Have you tried www.backtobasicsuae.com. Maids load their CV's on there and some even have the odd picture. Personally if mine left now I would only take one who had never worked in Dubai before.

I don't think there are really any bad nurseries around its all about what fits you. DD goes to Blossom in Um Sequiem and is really happy there.

Definitely do the Burj Khalifa. It bored me ridged but my mum really enjoyed it. I took my mum for afternoon tea at the Burj, it is expensive but she just loved the experience and the amazing views.

Welcome, You don't say how exactly how old your boys are. I know that Star International do not have places for FS1 or FS2 this year ie., September, but they may have spaces for Year 1 and upwards. Star is a relatively new school in Dubai its about 2 years old but getting very popular.

I understand and agree. We are sort of on a budget, because this move is very quick and spontaneous due to a family emergency. But we are not planning on coming back to dubai.. so we want to do some stuff. And also... another question. What is cheaper to buy here than there? What should we bring? Where are you going to to?

Dr Loubser at Infinity is fabulous but can be difficult to get an apt with, if we can't get in to see him we see Dr Sean Petherbridge at Infinity too, he is a GP and very good too :) I second all of the above.

Another happy Jim will Fit it Customer. Expensive if you don't have alot for them to do but definitely worth the money. Plus they tidy up after themselves and turn up which is a plus here in Dubai.

Ladies, after looking for a full-time housemaid to stand in for one month recently, I now have 3 lovely Sri Lankan housemaids available and looking for full-time work. All of them are highly recommended - either by myself or by close friends. They all speak good English, are great with children and good around the house - more like family than housemaids. One has her own visa and the other 2 need to be sponsored. Call me on 050 6558224 if you want more details or an introduction as it is so important to find a good lady and more important that she is recommended by a friend. Cappie, Just wanted to add its illegal to hire a maid who has their own visa.

Have a look at this website www.backtobasicsuae.com they have a selection of home help on there. I've just been searching - they have to fill in a questionnaire and it tells you whether they have references or not.

Thanks babyrat, Am I obligated to see her out of the country within 21 days after her visa expires? In any case, it looks like I need to pay her an airfare home- is that right? So she can't come back as a tourist if I cancel her visa and she goes to Kish? Thanks again. Your obligations as a sponsor finishes if (a) she finds another sponsor or (b) you send her home as I understand it. It would be much better if she finds another job as that way you save yourself her flight money back to wherever.

Have a look at www.backtobasicsuae.com. I've already mentioned this website. I came across it at the ExpatWoman Education Fair I went to the other week. It has tips on getting maids, visa requirements etc and there is also a section for maids/nannies looking for work. Take a look.

Have a look at www.backtobasicsuae.com this is a website with info on home help etc. I purchased a book from here for my nanny which is a guide to first aid. I also booked the nanny on the first aid course. The book comes in dual language. Having a Filipino nanny I obviously got the English/Filipino version! I find about this at the Expatwoman Education Fair which they held recently.

We love Dr. Loubser at Infinity. He's always busy, but will always take his time with you and do the checks and answer your questions. Sometimes it makes him late, but I've found it's always worth the wait. Definitely second Dr. Loubster at Infinity Clinic. He has such good bed side manners, pleasing to the eye, never rushes and always asks when you stare at him blankly if you understood what he was staying. The other really good doctor there is Sean Petherbridge, his a GP but is really nice. Have always been happy with the doctors - the receptionists well they are what you would expect from your local NHS surgery in the UK!

I've had two live out nannies in the past and got one of them from the Classified Section. Her package in total came to 2700AED. She worked 5 days a week. She came to me for 8am and finished at 6pm but if she babysit I paid her extra and a taxi home. If you live near public transport than you could pay her slightly less for transport.

1. She needs to go back to her own Country 2. If she goes to Kish she will need someone willing to sponsor her to come back to Dubai on a Visit Visa. 3. If she is still under your sponsorship then you will have to cancel her visa and pay for her to to back to her home country unless of course she finds another employer in that period.

I have had endless problems with Du reception, texts not being received/sent etc, etc etc. I've been a customer for 4 years! Luckily I have no mates so it doesn't matter too much, but I'd never want to rely on my phone in a crisis! lol

I sold quite alot of our furniture at the beginning of the year from Ikea using Dubizzle. I did put pictures up as well. In answer to your question Yes second hand does sell. I suppose it is all about timing. I had those book shelves which I sold for 150 each. It's better to sell them cheaply then not get anything for them at all.

Dont worry- its no big deal since you are applying for a residence visa for her. If you transfer the visa in country without exiting- it will work out at AED30 a day - so the fine will be a total of 450 dhs for 15 days whihc they will add on when they stamp.... It's 100AED per day - I cannot imagine the price going down!. Last May when DH had his visa sorted out and I'm not even sure how it happened but we got charged 500 AED cause DD's who was 2 years old at the time visa was overdue by 5 days.

I got most of my things from Party World in Motorcity. They have another branch on Jumeriah Beach Road. They have these little colouring/sticker books which cost 6AED each. They have lots of reasonably priced party favours for the goody bags in my opinion.

I live in an Apartment in Motorcity and absolutely love it. Lots of kids of DD's age to play with she 2 years old. I love the fact that we can walk to the shops etc. Each building has two entrances and there is always a ramp for push chairs. DD loves using the ramp for going down on her scooter. It is very family friendly. There is a nursery in Motorcity and a Child's Enrichment Centre on your door step. Rent is also very reasonable. If you move her try and get a property owned by Union Properties as that way you will have a service contract and Serve U the maintenance company on site usual comes within the one hour. I don't think you can go far wrong in moving here.
