Definitely GHD. I bought my on-line with ship and shop. Found that it was much cheaper than the one's you get out here and I got to choose the colour as well!

How many do you need? I've got a packet left over and there is 10 in a packet. They are silver in colour. Live in Motor City if you want to collect them. No charge either.

It seems busy enough but I wasn't that impressed when I viewed it. To me first impressions count. I disliked the fact that no one ever answered the phone and you always had to leave a message on the answering machine.

Hearts of palm for starters (or of course, oysters!); Coquilles Saint-Jacques for main; Coeur a la creme in heart shaped mould for pud, or heart shape palmiers with pears, ginger and chocolate. ETA: I'm on my own tomorrow; the above are just suggestions for what I might have done :) edited by simpleasabc on 13/02/2011 Feel free if you want to cook for me cause I'm on my own as well. DH is in Doha!

Babyrat - which Blossom does your DD go to? This is one of my options.... She goes to the one at Umm Al Sheif. It's the original Blossom Nursery. It's not everyone's cup of tea but DD absolutely loves it there.

We have rented a few places in our time here in Dubai and not once have I come across having to repaint the property. We normally just fill in the holes and leave it clean and tidy.

Browneye, I know someone who has a 2 bed in Sports City available for rent. She only asked me on Friday if I knew anyone who was interested. I do know that it is partly furnished. I'm happy to pass their phone number on to you so you can contact them direct yourself. Another alternatively is to move into one of those serviced apartments but you will have to put your things into storage.

I'm a full time working mum but I do have a full time maid as well but DD goes to Blossom Nursery which caters for the working family. They have early drop offs 7:30am and late pick ups which the latest is 6.00pm. Snacks, lunches and afternoon snacks are included in the price. They have summer camps etc. It works for me. It's only when DD is sick that's its handy to have a maid around. I actually now have a live in maid but the two previous maids I had before both lived out. You pay a bit more to have a live out maid cause you end up having to give them money for rent and travelling expenses.

Yes you should definitely warn them. The Landlord doesn't have to live with the noise but the new tenant does.

Been there typed that many many times, amazing how frustrating these little people can make us......good news is things do get better a word of advice always mean what you say, stick to your guns be the adult, take charge and NEVER EVER give in...... That is so much easier said than done! At times I feel I'm such a **** mother cause I give in to DD so easily. I have this guilt thing that cause I work and can't spend as much time as I would like with her I just want to make her happy all the time but I know deep down I'll just end up creating a brat!

Have a look on Dubizzle. When I was looking about 3 weeks ago I know there was an apartment in Goldcrest Tower which was only a six month let but that was because it was rented by a company and the company was basically resubletting with the Landlord's consent. They are out there.

SAHM has car - non negotiable! In an ideal world you both would have a car but if you only have one then it should be with you. If he makes you guys move to Dubai then he should bite the bullet and get on the metro and use taxis where possible. It is not feasible for you to do that well not with taxis anyway. What about car seats etc etc. Also, say to him if there was an emergency with the kids he wouldn't want you waiting around for a taxi or bus would he?

I've been following this post closely as this is where I've put DD down for FS1. When I went for the tour around November time the headteacher actually informed us that the swimming pool would be ready for Sept 2011! As regards the auditorium I don't think that would be anywhere finished in DD's life time at the school as far as I can see its just a big shell. Personally I think that as soon as everything is up and running their school fees will shoot up as well. edited by Babyrat on 04/02/2011

Simple answer is No. I don't get a clothing allowance from my employers. I did offer her a uniform when she started and she said that she was more comfortable in her own clothes. Saying that sometimes when I see offers buy one get one free I do think about her.

Out of the nurseries you had done I only went to see 3 of them which are Children's Oasis, London & Paris and Blossoms. All very good nurseries in their own way. It is very much a personal choice. Another good nursery is Rising Star. You will know once you have found the one.

Fullymine, to rate it a person would have had to have had experience in each, which is probably going to be tough ;) I am sure Blossoms is a fabulous place, but am also sure it closes for long periods during school holidays (Spring break, Christmas, Eid etc + half terms). Blossoms gives you the choice of an academic year and also all year round. They are closed for I think 4 weeks of the year two of them being over Christmas.

My LO is with Dr Loubster at Infinity Clinic. With Infinity Clinic they do not do direct billing as far as I am aware. DD has Bupa International so its a lot of form filling I'm afraid. In fairness to Bupa they always pay up quickly.

Hi, Personally if DH will be looking for a job then I would just get them over on visit visas. They can then do visa runs together until he gets a job. Everything else can be in your name ie., tenancy contract. I think you will find it will be much easier for DH to sponsor his son than you. DH and I are on separate residential visas. I know only about the sponsoring situation as I at one stage going to have to sponsor DH as he had been made redundant last year. Anyway good luck. You'll love it out here. Expensive but nice.

I just wanted to add no country's medical practice is perfect but I think the NHS is amazing. Doctors are only human and yes they do make mistakes. My father last summer was diagnosed with cancer of the colon. Within 6 weeks from the time he went to see the doctor who then referred him to consultant he was treated and back home. Unfortunately for us it has returned again and this time he has again been seen quickly and is now in St Thomas London undergoing treatment. The doctors and nurses work very hard are underpaid, long working hours, conditions etc but they still soldier on.

As a rule of thumb it is normally woman who work in those areas including teaching, bankers who can sponsor their other partners. They also normally require you to have a salary of a certain amount. Hopefully you have a degree certificate as well. It can be done but some Emirates are a bit more lax with paperwork than others. I am not sure about your partner's son though. If both your partner and his son have European Passports they could do visa runs which is not ideal but people do it.

I really am in shock. I can't believe it. 1) I have to pay 500 for connection (DEWA, DU and Showtime all seem to manage to connect you for 100) 2) I have to pay 1000 for a deposit 3) Then I have to pay 50 dirhams standing charge [b'>every month[/b'> 4) Then pay for metered gas consumption on top Lootah BC Gas seems to have a monopoly as no one else is allowed to supply gas to Jumeriah Village. I'm soooooo angry. In 5 years I've used 2 medium sized gas bottles which cost 80 each. What to do? Lootah BC Gas seems to be taking over everywhere. They have now taken over from Royal Gas who used to supply the Palm Jumeriah. They knocked my door last week saying that we had an unpaid invoice dating back to September so glad I kept the receipt slip confirming payment.

Elizabeth Driver is a qualified midwife in Dubai. She was at GMC in Green Community about 2 years ago. I know she did ante natal classes at I think its called Canadian Clinic on Jumeriah Beach Road. I'm not sure how big the demand is for midwives is in Dubai as majority of people have insurance and so are seen by the Obs. Anyway good luck. I think its a fantastic career.

What about a Mont Blanc pen with his name engraved on it? Or a nice evening meal at a really posh restaurant, cufflinks, Massage for men at 1847 (great mens salon), Swim with the Dolphins at Dolpin Bay Atlantis Hotel with you and him. Skyride on a seaplane over Dubai? Shisha pipe (if he smokes)? Tickets to a comedy club? It gets harder by the years trust me! Mine turns 40 tomorrow.....I had a tough one with that. Happy shopping and hope this helps. Yeah I like the Mont Blanc idea as well.
