Hi, Thanks ladies! I am assuming you have a buyer and are looking to cancel the registration and ensure you have the correct documentation in place for the sale of the boat. Procedure is slightly different depending on whether you are registered with DMCA or FTA. You will need to ensure you supply a deletion certificate and bill of sale for the new owner, as these are the documents they require from you to register the boat. Let me know what you need assistance with and I can advise you. Or give me a call. My number mentioned below by Buster.
Are you looking for help selling the boat or deregistration and transferring the ownership? If it is a small boat (under 36 ft), the best place to advertise for free is Dubizzle. This is where most smaller boats are sold. If you are looking to transfer the ownership, we can assist you with this when the boat is sold, to ensure you have the correct documents and you get your transponder deposit back. You obviously need to get the transponder removed and cancel the registration, once you find a buyer. When you sell the boat you will get a bill of sale and deletion certificate from the NTA. When the boat is de registered you can submit your documents, to get the transponder deposit back. Currently it takes about 3 months. Let me know where your boat is registered and what size it is and I can advise the best way forwards.
Hi, You now have to take the boat to the coastguard for transponder and safety equipment inspection and there are now additional documents required. There is also a new rule on DP stickers, so all old ones have to be changed. It will take a weekday morning of your time at the coastguard and additional time for the card to be issued. So depends how much time your husband has.
