Thank you ladies for your replies. Most helpful. Managed to speak to another Orthopaedic surgeon here who seems to agree with the other consultant in Dubai and we feel happier with the approach now.Thank you also for your recommendations.

Hi Ladies, We've just paid deposit on a villa up at the Villa so have finally decided to take the plunge. Thanks for all your advice. Will be moving in end March. Garden needs landscaping so any recommendations there would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks Ladies. Eli I will follow up on your suggestion to contact Helena, much appreciated. (BTW I think I met you when we were taken to view a "landscaped" house at the weekend by an agent. Thank you for your honesty about your LL and the situation. Good luck with your move to the next place!).

Thanks ladies for all your information. We have decided to go for it but are going to wait for an A3 to come up. Took the kids to see the A1/2 to day and decided we could do with a little more space. Apparently there are some A3 due to be released in the next month, hopefully they won't be too expensive. If anyone knows of an A3 or B1 coming up for rent I would be interested to hear about it. We need to be in by end of March.

Sorry not really sure we were looking at 5 beds but I think there are some smaller as I spoke to one resident who said hers wasn't as big as 5 bed but whether they do 3 beds not sure.

Thanks for your feedback really appreciate it. With regards to the Mazaya pools what is the best plan - fill it to see if there is a leak or ask for re-grouting before it gets filled as it has been such a big problem?

Hi Ladies, We currently live in a compound in Barsha and have been here for almost 4 years quite happily HOWEVER I'm hankering after more garden and a quieter enviroment. We have teenages at school in Jumeriah and dogs to consider. Went house hunting yesterday and spent time at The Villa. Really liked the A1/A2 layouts (B1/2 lovely but problems with access for the dogs to the garden and we think A1/2 will actually be fine for us). The issue is will we regret moving so far out for a garden, pool and relative peace? I accosted a few residents who were out at the Villa and interestingly not one of them regretted moving there - even the teenagers who said like mine they did not want to go at first but now liked it. Have tested the road out onto Al Ain and into Safa past Meydan and it doesn't seem too bad but at the moment it only takes 15 minutes to school. Any advice from The Villa residents would be appreciated. Also have heard comments about leaking pools in Mazaya - anything else to watch out for? Thanks in advance!

Personally I would wait for Moorfields unless it is urgent. We have always found their service excellent for the kids and adults. Perhaps you could get a cancellation? Could be worth asking them.

My DD and DS take the RTA bus from school when I cannot collect them. It goes from school to very near our house. They have been doing this since they were 15 and 12. My maid used to collect them by taxi which I thought was fine until the children told me that the beeper (i.e. for speeding) was going off for the whole journey and my maid hadn't said anything. I actually prefer the bus for them as there are other teenagers travelling and they obey the speed limits. I usually do everything possible to avoid DD getting a taxi (lift-sharing a lot with other parents) but if she has had to she h it is not alone and she phones me with the taxi number (making sure the taxi driver hears that she is calling her Mum with this information). I have also told them what to do if the driver is speeding etc. I do think we tread a very fine line as parents between keeping them safe and letting them have some independence. My daughter could be at University in 2 years living completely independently with us not even in the same country so I do think I have a duty to "train" her up to cope safely with public transport. My suggestion would be to start slowly and build up over the next year or so. Agree a plan with your husband as to what you feel comfortable with. You said you have told her not to get into taxis with her friends just be aware that this may mean she is left on her own if this is how the others are getting home. You need to decide what is preferable in each situation. Hope this helps.

You can have it removed here but it is not licensed for insertion. I had mine replaced in the UK as they wouldn't have been able to put a new one in here. If you contact Dubai London Clinic Dr Barbara told that it could be removed but I'm not sure if they do it there or would refer you somewhere else. If you are returning home and can wait I would as they are obviously more experienced at the removal although it shouldn't be complicated. Hope this helps.
