Thanks for the ADVERT! Do you know any Conveyancers i.e. people who handle sale of property that are cheaper than lawyers at conveyancing who even answer their emails as well?

Why? They don't want to be in the European Union, it's like having unhappy employees in a company, without the negative impact I definitely think Europe will improve. Have you been to FRANCE lately? Strikes, Strikes, Strikes - petrol shortages too not long ago.

HI - You need to take tax advice from an accountant in UK. There are no international tax specialists in UAE. Even the larger accountancy firm such as KPMG in Dubai will probably tell you to take advice in UK. The reason seems to be if they give you wrong advice about Uk tax in Dubai you cannot get compensation. There was a similar thread about Canadian tax and people answered the same - ie. get advice back in Canada.

I work in TECOM and now that the area has changed name we will need to reprint all our Company stationary...... an expense we hadn't expected. Not sure what is behind the name change but lets hope there will be more investment so the landscaping can be finished rather than just patches of sand everywhere and unfinished pavements. It is about time all the massage cards left on car doors disappeared too! Lets hope it is a new beginning and the area improves. Here, here - this area was developed in a very ad hoc way in the boom times; such as shame - some buildings are very good other just look awful. With its quite good location ( some building have good sea views) it is high time there was landscaping and greenery and not just desert everywhere.

I do hope you resolve your situation A few years ago people used to just do a runner. I had personal experience of that when someone abandoned a Range Rover full of luggage in my paring space. I t was there for several months as the police did not want to take it away.

I believe you already sent this very same post to the 7 days tabloid.... That explains why you never respond back, and you are only an editor in 7 days or expat woman writing a letter just to spark comments.... How sad things isn't that much real! Oh really? Well spotted! So annoying - I think the post about "my husband..." may also be a wind up.

Most fine hair is quite fragile and cannot really stand too much processing with chemicals. You will most likely have to it cut off short and start again. The less this sort of hair is "handled" the better it is. You might like it short - less trouble in the hot weather and a lot less expense.

Now my balcony is full of birds poop .i clean it everydaybut still i feel its not healthy even . Does anyone have a way or trick to deter birds???did anyone get the green light by emaar ir municipality to close the secind floor balcony ,and how??? Btw its not only the normal bird poo its a strange bird that have a black seed like poo , i dont know what kind . Its also outside my windows , it must be an exotic bird?.help plz ladies?? You might be able to get a row of spikes along the wall of the balcony so birds cannot sit on it - that's what they use in other places to prevent birds sitting where they are not wanted.

I am shock that you are being considered "too old" at 39 in your field of work and with your experience and qualifications. Would they treat a man of 39 in the same way? I had to put up with a solicitor in London who was at least 80 years old. -man and did make mistakes. However, I remember a woman who actually made herself younger by changing date of birth on passport from *** 0 to ***5 - thus being 5 years younger - or perhaps the passport office made the mistake. I knew her at school so knew her correct age.

I do not know what the latest method for bags under the eyes is but the procedure used to be actually REMOVING a layer of fat from under the eyes which is what apparently causes the bags. The surgeon just cuts a line ( with laser mostly) exactly where the bottom eye lashes are - takes out a strip of fat from this area and the sutures up the cut. No scar shows because of the eyelashes hiding them. The bags do not come back.

The UK Home Office Travel Advice section has as its first item and still valid as of today 15/05/2016 that the British Embassy (in Dubai) has had reports of some travelers at Hatta being redirected to other borders to make the crossing from Oman to UAE and that if one is trying to make this border crossing one should consider taking another route and leaving more time for the journey.

Thanks, but the windows are the problem, not the walls. I need a solution for the windows and glass door facing the balcony. The walls are ok. You could try those very thick (and usually brightly coloured) blankets they sell at Carrefour - don't know if they will have them in the summer but you could try elsewhere. Buy one and hang it up against the window so you can to see if that helps. If it does you can get curtains made using the blankets as interlining in between the fabric and the lining. They do this interlining in country houses in UK to keep out the cold. I doubt curtain makers will have interlining fabric in Dubai and if not you could ask them to use blankets instead. It won't be cheap. You might be able to make them yourself using the plain cotton ones at IKEA as a base if you are good at sewing.

We had this problem but not in a villa. Eventually we just moved the bed to the opposite wall. We had men in to try to adjust the blowing/temperature - but nothing worked. We really had to move the bed because we found water actually under the bed in the other position - whether it had pooled there from cleaning the floor or from condensation we did not know; there was mold there as well. That spot on the floor is also freezing cold. We turn off the a/c at night as well most of the time.

You only have to be back in uk for 90 days..you don't need to be working. Also, if you have young children that rule can be waived. My friend returned from Australia and went straight to UK citing about to have nervous breakdown etc...her benefits commenced virtually immediately...not that I am recommending that BUT if you are desperate it is an option. Other issue, if you can support yourself for three months then benefits will kick in till such time as you find employment. Once you find employment you will get tax credits taking you up to a reasonable monthly income. It is do-able... Tnx I was thinking about it. My main problem that my kids are 3 and 5 so It will be difficult for me to find a suitable job to manage schools etc.. yes I have relatives in UK but they have they one problems so I don't think they could help me. Actually we all have our own problems so the fact your relations have them should not stop you from asking or insisting they help you for a few months - do they want you to be on the street? Regarding work with your 3 and 5 year old could you try to work in child care, creche , nursery or school as the hours and holidays should be the same as the children's? I knew a woman who did this when she left her husband.

I spoke to the lawyer and he was very positive about my situation. I also considering to go back to uk however I don't think I can apply for any social benefits there and council accommodation as I left uk for more that 90 days so I probably lost all residential rights there. To go back to the system I need to work for at least 3 month and pay taxes in the UK/ At the moment my husband continues dating with ladies plus does not sleeping at home couple nights per week. We are not talking anymore coz I have no idea how to talk to him after his actions. Well done for going to see a lawyer.! Try to keep up your self confidence and sense of worthiness. Try to stay cheerful. Is it because you are a naturalized UK resident that you have to work for 3 months or have rules changed for everyone? I know one used to have to be resident for 3 months before qualifying for any benefits; not that one had to work and pay tax but rules have become stricter since the economic crises. Others may know more. Do you have relations in UK?

I'm returning in a few days so hopefully I'll be passed the 30 + 10 days rule. Why did they not stamp my exit on 12th May - will that be a problem? Sorry - I clearly cannot count - already passed the 40 days - I think!

Very sorry to hear of your situation. You do need correct legal advice. Do you have any relatives or friends here or in UK to either live with or help/support you? In UK you could probably get local authority housing and social security benefits if you are homeless as you have young children. Don't "give up" on the property in UK either - it seems to be the main asset..

You do NOT need to live apart for five years. I have only officially been apart for a year. My ex is refusing to divorce but my solicitor reckons it will be done by Dec....I am actioning this on grounds of unreasonable behaviour. Yes - there are grounds for "quicker" divorces including adultery but these would be different cases from this one as described ( the husband presumably would have to prove Mrs N had "unreasonable behaviour" etc which might be difficult). She could divorce HIM for adultery with ;proof quite quickly too if she wanted, of course. Sorry for any confusion.

Dear ladies, please advice what to do. My husband wants us to separate. Because this goes for while, he has another woman, I was very patient but today I replayed to him - ok. You file the divorce. he agreed. We have 2 boys 3 and 5 years old. I cannot support them financially myself. WE are both British. He is by birth. I am by naturalization. What to expect? Thanks in advance for any advises. A husband can get a divorce whether the wife "agrees" or not. However, in UK if one party does not agree the couple have to live apart for 5 years. Would he agree to a divorce taking place in UK if this is possible as you may not want not want a UAE divorce? If you can get a settlement order for a lump sum of money and/or a property into your name you then won't have to worry so much about him working in another country and trying to get regular maintenance..

Your first consideration would be having a child when not married as this is not allowed in Dubai although some people have not had trouble with it. Then if the father's name is on the child's birth certificate you would probably need his consent. I wouldn't say the first piece of your post is true. It's have a child out of wedlock HERE! If the child has been born to unmarried parents elsewhere, it's not their business. I know plenty of single parents living here, who came here with their children, were never married and never had any issues. So long as all the paperwork is done, there shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the clarification FD - i have always thought it was a grey area.

Just a note about the Metro (train) There are 2 classes of travel - you need to get prepaid gold or silver swipe cards. The silver class gets very crowded most of the time - carriages for either only men or only women and children in silver (second class) . Gold class has seats and is mixed sexes but there is only one carriage - either at back or front of the train ( it also gets crowded).

It might sound very obvious but have you visited the school recently to get your own feel of the place? Ask the Head how long he/she is staying etc. Schools can go up or down sometimes through no fault of their own. I knew someone whose child went to a lovely Swiss private school - one of the masters was accused by his wife of child abuse - he went to jail for some time and of course the school went "down" . It was later decided the wife had made it all up but I don't know if the school ever fully recovered.

If you want to be able to walk to many shops and restaurants your best options are the apartment communities like the Marina or JLT, or the Greens for something quieter and quite lovely. The Springs/Meadows have town centres that you can walk to but it does depend exactly where your villa is and your tolerance for walking certain distances. You might be close, you may not. I don't know what your budget is, but the older communities such as the original Jumeira and Umm Suqiem are the best places if you want a villa and be within walking distance of many shops and cafes (along the Beach Road), the beach itself, or several supermarkets. To make the most out of being walkable you still do need to be somewhat careful where the villa is specifically located. Second the Greens and with it the Views next door. It is mostly flats but also a few villas. If you are not working and don't have a car it has the advantage of being a small bus "depot" - where bus waits all the time so you don't have to take a taxi although it only goes to Mall of the Emirates ( but from there you can get the Metro easily.) Also it has a very relaxed feeling - people wear what they like.etc. LOTS of toddlers.

Let's face it - there are not many places where anyone can guarantee to be "peaceful" unless it is right out in the desert. Sadly there does not seem to be any easy way to save for children's education. Ask the FA if the deposits you make are insured against losses as you are not willing to make any.

Is Pashpaley Pearls in MOE closing? It had boarding up last time I passed by there. I think possibly some of the cheaper pearls, the cultured ones .have had the oysters fed with some sort of glass(?) bead because they always seem much heavier than the more expensive ones - I don't know what they do exactly but I was given a Mikimoto necklace years ago and it is light to wear. The cheaper ones - though they look good just weigh you down if you have a multi strand necklace. Can anyone explain the difference - any pearl experts?

Hello all We have put in an offer on an apartment but the landlord wants to keep bills in their name could that be a problem for us in any way? I think some landlords do pay the DEWA - which includes the Land Tax which can make up most of the bill and can be quite high. Presumably he needs the bill in his name to pay it?

How exciting to see this thread! i am coming to visit Dubai from Florida & California and explore expat life for my near future plans. Arriving May 5th, 2016. Would love to have tea with some local women expats since I am by myself this time.... AFTERNOON TEA is my thing every time I travel somewhere. And lingering over a cuppa with marina views would be more memorable with NEW friends, I hope! I looked up the suggestions here and I sure would love to go to both tea rooms during my one week visit. If there are other suggestions and places that any one would like to join me to try/or enjoy, I welcome the company! Please, pretty please?! :-) You may not find much company to go about Dubai because most women are either working or have young children - but every one is quite friendly and going anywhere alone is OK - better to do things alone than not at all - also it gives you more self confidence!

I think you can install a local phone service on your mobile while in Dubai - to reduce your bills? That's why I mentioned going to a DU ( phone provider) office. The one in Mall of the Emirates is just outside the exit from the metro. Don't be worried about "touring alone". There are "Big Bus Tours" of Dubai - you may know the "Big Bus" company - its also in London. You can pay for that at Mall of the Emirates ( I sound like an advert for the place!). If you don't know it - it's maybe the best way to see Dubai - you can get on and off it at the various places where it stops. You'll get a good impression of Dubai from that .To go further afield you might want to hire a car - so bring your full driving licence. I think there are buses that goes to Abu Adhabi and elsewhere.

An estate agent has told me their company does their own conveyancing "in house". They call it "sales progression". I am not familiar with this way of conveyancing. I thought at least one party should engage a solicitor - them being independent of the whole procedure. What I do not understand is - how can there be safeguards for the buyer's money if it is passed through the estate agent's own employee - even the final payment? What if the company went bankrupt when they were holding money or some one stole it? I presume the seller would not be damaged so much if this happened as the property would still belong to them? But the buyer would have lost his money?
