If you are anyway going to Dubai mall, head to sisters rather than WOW salon.. They have European staff there which are nice and good.

Home centre might have some also, and dragon mart. I recently bought some nice shiny jewelry boxes with mirror glass from PAN homes. Sometimes they have pretty stuff :) Zara home?

I have already explored their webpage but they keep telling me different things. That is why I was wondering if anyone has done it recently. S

If you compare a 5 star hotel in UAE with a 5 star hotel in Egypt, you will end up disappointed.. just saying. keep that in mind while booking.

I would love to join but seems like all the mornings are in the middle of the week, so not possible for working people. Evening sounds great, will go to the next one when I am not on vacation :) thanks all

Good afternoon all beautiful ladies out there. Been willing to post for a while, and reading other threads daily now it is my turn to post. I guess there are many more in my situation out there, working/gym/eat/sleep and that is it. I can honestly tell you my work does not give me any kind of satisfaction as I am doing absolutely nothing 9 hours every day (reception work). After work I usually go to the gym and that is it. Biggest part of my friends circle are all still single and you might know what that means. Clubbing, brunching, ladies night, bars.. well you know something that includes alcohol of food. Which I am getting sooo tired of. It seems like everything here is either surrounded by alcohol or food, and I would love to do something else for once. Some kind of hobby, activity or what so ever to meet other people and be active after sitting on my a** all day ;) Don't get me wrong, i also enjoy a great night out and some lovely food, but there must be so many other things to do here in Dubai, I just don't know what. So what I am basically asking is which kind of activities are there around the city? I live in Down town Dubai (it takes me 20 min to reach home from work) so if there are any evening activities around the area, suggest anything! I am dying of boredom :) Also during weekend, husband is usually working weekends so I need to get out and do stuff.. All help appreciated! xo

I had a good experience with Gertrud Koster at Koster clinic in Jumeirah, she is experienced and Scandinavian which I thought was a benefit. A bit expensive but maybe your insurance can cover your visits. x

After I resigned I decided to look for a job with some better conditions (you know 2 days off in the weekend, possibility to take annual leave, annual ticket, INSURANCE) all the benefits I could not find with Alshaya. Now I have a position within admin/operations and even if I still love the make up this feels so much more stable and secure. Hopefully I could do some freelancing when I'm off, all in all i am happier with my new company :)

Hi there. I used to work for MAC here in Dubai and it is not like in other places around the world. First of all is MAC franchised by Alshaya which is a multi company with over 30.000 employees, which means mass industry. As a westerner it is really hard, the salary is low (7000 aed) 6 days a week and no benefits what so ever.. I would not recommend anyone who is used to working standards from Europe to work in a store in UAE, it is not worth it. Freelancing here is hard since you need to set up a business to do it legally, and there are already thousands of MUAs here. It is possible, but both expensive and complicated, especially if you are new to UAE. Best of luck anyway

Yes plum2, that is what I am looking for. From where I come from we have many 1-2 years courses which offers a CIDESCO diploma afterwards. Do you have any idea if there are any like that here? Maybe the market is not that good as a westerner?

Thank you for actually taking your time to respond. I would love to meet other western/European people who lives the life that i will enter in the future. I am trying to prepare myself day by day and I do understand that it will be a big change for BOTH of us since we come from very different backgrounds (I'm Swedish). I know most of the locals who says they are open minded are really not, luckily my future husband is. Anyway I know there will be a lot disagreements but that's just life. There is for sure money enough for villas and education so that will not be a problem at all. And as we already decided to stay even close to his family is not an option. May I ask what's your nationality and at what age did you get married. In which emirate are you staying as well? Happy new year to you all :)

There are no threads as far as I can see about getting married to an Emirati. And I am guessing the 2 of you are not from the UAE originally. Would you mind telling me a bit about how it was and how your life changed since you got married. Me myself as a european is curious since I might be emirati wife next year.
