I've definitely seen these here but can't remember exactly where. I think it must have been one of the more upmarket boutique stores. Try the little baby shop in the mall near the big Magrudy's on Beach Road (Za Ze Zoo I think) or Favourite Things maybe?

What on earth is offensive or distasteful about a pregnant belly?! I wore my bikini whilst pregnant and felt great. It honestly didn't even occur to me that other people might not like the view!

It can contain salicylate salts which has been linked to Reyes disease. Bonjela Teething Gel doesn't contain these and is safe to use. It's just the Bonjela formula for adults (or any that contain the salts) that you need to avoid.

I looked at a villa there almost 2 years ago now and wasn't impressed at all! It seemed to be sandwiched between rows of endless pylons [i'>and[/i'> flanked by two main roads?! I couldn't see even one green thing from any window either. Not good though the villa was actually very nice!

Quite understandably you must feel very hurt. Even though it is hard to think about I'm sure your DH does too. Talking to find a solution is not always easy, especially for men. Perhaps a practical approach could work for you. Can you play the part of a happy, kind wife for a while? You will probably be pleasantly surprised by his response. If one person takes it upon themselves to change their behaviour then the whole dynamic of the relationship can be different. Consider your DD and how important it is for her to grow up in a healthy, happy environment. She's worth making the effort for, even though I imagine you would like it to come from DH. I'm sure you would benefit from time on your own without the constant responsibility of DD. Organise care for her and do something just for yourself. Preferably leave her with DH so he can start to appreciate what you do. I've been very unhappy and lonely in my marriage (though we are in a good place now) so I really sympathise with you and hope things can get better soon. Hugs. x

When DS insisted on dropping his daytime nap we had to make bedtime much earlier to avoid afternoon meltdowns. If I know he's going to have a late night I give him plenty of advance warning that he'll be going for a nap which seems to do the trick (along with the threat of withdrawing the afternoon activities if he makes a fuss and doesn't sleep ;)). edited by BrownEyedGirl on 31/03/2011

It's pretty much the same in our house! If I insist that Daddy does it then invariably it results in late bedtimes and tears anyway but I like to persevere! I think you should too - I can't imagine finding the energy to put 4 to bed after a long day!? One of these days it'll pay off.....:)

This post could almost have been written by me afew months ago! DD has always been rather all over the place about sleeping/feeding. Inexplicably sleeping through the night sometimes and waking frequently at other times. I stopped b/f her at a year and up until then always fed her at night. Her teething was certainly a problem at times but on reflection I think the issue was overtiredness. With her being my second I was always busy running around with DS and found it impossible to get her to sleep twice in the day. Now she's well over a year and can manage with one nap the situation is much improved. Like yours she was at least happy to settle herself off to sleep at bedtime. Hang in there....:)

Shame that they don't do it here. I personally can recommend it. Both water births second one induced. Water softens the area and reduces chances of tearing. I don't want to sound arguemnative but the water does not reduce the risk of tearing (research based evidence) Hi Jillp. Would you mind posting a link to the research as I'm interested in this. I always thought that birthing in water reduced the risk of tearing. That was certainly my own experience - DS was a big baby but I remained in tact! Thanks.

thank you for your suggestions BEG - where is Bookworm shop located? and Cilek - is that the one next to Cite Des Enfants? There's one in the Meadows town centre, and one next to park and shop umm suqiem There's a Cilek at Ibn Battuta mall and I think there is one in MCC too but I'm not sure where, I'm afraid.

will be staying for the summer - my first desert summer - am I mad...? Have a 4 year old, will have to get creative... Just a question, but the people who do go home for the summer, or go elsewhere, where do they stay? Do they still have homes in their home country? We never owned ours in the UK so we have nowhere to stay, and friends and family are scattered all over the place and have no room to put up a family of 3 for any length of time. How do people manage to stay away for so long without going bankrupt? Or am I doing something wrong...?! Lol! No, just different circumstances I guess. We rent out our UK property and stay with my parents in the summer months. Mostly, everyone that I know does the same.

I agree with other posters that 2 is too young to get the most out of Kidszania or Cite des Enfants. A trial lesson with Mygym or similiar would be age appropriate though. Great books for a 2 year old: - We're going on a bear hunt, Michael Rosen Dear zoo, Rod Campbell The very hungry caterpillar, Eric Carle Where the wild things are, Maurice Sendack The foot book, Dr Suess Dressing up is great fun for this age. H & M have some cool stuff - spiderman and fairies/butterflies too or the Early Learning Centre. I don't know if it's convenient for you but Cilek have some traditional wooden toys that would be lovely for 2 year olds. Happy shopping!

Hi DC, I have a second hand mothercare jive stroller (navy) for sale. It's actually only a few months old but wasn't expensive too begin with. It's in reasonable nick, though the stitching has come apart a little at the top but it doesn't affect it's functionality. 50 AED.

Before someone more knowledgeable answers I *think* it's between 3 - 5,000 AED for a birth doula. She will meet you several times before the birth to discuss preferences, provide information and answer questions and be available for telephone support leading up to the birth too. She will of course attend your actual birth and be on call for that event for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your due date. Bargain!! edited by BrownEyedGirl on 21/03/2011
