Thanks bsamara … where we live is pretty much dependant on the school. I've read about the Outstanding Schools Programme but am still unsure what it means in reality for it's members/pupils. Outstanding schools briefly are schools which are well known for their great academic records/achievements in their home country and with an agreement form the Ministry of Education were allowed to open up in Qatar to provided that same quality education too the Qataris and Expats. Such schools are usually granted already built school plots and spaces to open and operate. Other private school need to purchase their own land and build their own buildings. Currently I think there are around 6 or 7 such schools

In regards to school boh are good schools and both have waiting lists specially in the junior years. Only issue with DESS for me is that it is till year 6 only.Doha College has the advantage of preschool to year 13. There are newer school with good reputation you may consider exploring too . These school belong to the outstanding school program Sherbourne Qatar International School of London Kings College Doha Royal Grammar School Guilford- Qatar Good luck you r choice may depend on availability if sot and where you decide to love.

Your choices may depend mainly on which schools have open slots and where you plan to live. The next academic year will see the opening of 2 schools in the outstanding schools program following British Curriculum King's College Doha and Royal Grammar School Guilford in Qatar. In addition there are the Sherbourne Qatar and International School of London. Gems Wellington Qatar is also a good choice.

Both are good schools. Sherborne belongs to the outstanding school program by the Ministry of Education. It opened a few years ago Doha College has been well established in Doha since at least the 1990s. The westbay campus has been opened around 3 years ago and is only aprimary school. Both have great extra curricular sports and other clubs. For me both are great choices. At the end you choice may be influenced may be influenced by where you live to minimize traffic and school timings and if you have other kids do you want them all in one school and finally of course your budget. Good Luck

Yes schools are quite expensive here!!! You mentioned that your husband will be working in the airport so I am presuming something to do with Qatar Airways or its affiliates. They opened a school for their staff this January Oryx International School http://oryxschool.qa/
