She used to work for a local Arabic family for over 3 years... She highly recommended her and didnt want to let go off her but she wanted change of employer. Going back to her old posts, clearly she didnt indulge using her employers stuff ! So I am guessing she has taken me for granted. She is very good at her work and minus this incident I cant really fault her anywhere.

Ladies need your thoughts... I recently discovered that my barely 4 month old maid has been donning all my clothes, bags, sun glasses, etc and taking plethora of selfies... Plus she has emptied my cupboard and posted pics of random things like my treasure box of over 20 perfums, or my box of watches or my camera etc And if its not my things then she is putting up pics of branded bags like MK or LV or rolex watched etc... And it doesnt stop there ! She posts them on FACEBOOK... So my wardrobe, my house is all over facebook... Its all in Filipino so I cant quite understand and translation doesnt work coz I believe she uses slang... But I did pick up her telling the price of the bag as 250reyal... I confronted her and she cried, howled, apologized & begged for another chance. This happened about 10 days back. And today I again checked her wall and she had put pics of the clubhouse with another child. She should have been playing and monitoring my kids instead of doing her photo ops ! I cant quite get over the multitude of pics she has taken in my stuff & off my stuff ! Should I take off all her wifi access, ask her to delete all the pics, etc Should I send her back ? Should I let her continue with her photo ops and keep monitoring day in and out ? Coz clearly she is obsessed with taking pics, selfies etc Should I put cameras ? Can I trust her not to touch my things in future or would she just be careful to not leave proof behind ? Did any one of you have such an experience ? Care to share how you dealt with it ?

Go to the closest health center with the baby's passport. They will give you a green card and the vaccines & meds are for free.

Your maid can travel inter-GCC provided she is traveling with her sponsor. So if your husband is her sponsor then he must travel along. The passport and Qatari Resident Permit should be valid for more than 6 months upon date of travel. And do carry her contract papers. You won't need this but better safe than sorry !!!

Same nationality maids are not allowed in Qatar. So you cannot employ an Indian maid. Just email me on the same id that you saw elsewhere and we can chat-on… :) Or leave your email id here and I shall pop an email to you. edited by Butterfingers on 27/06/2013

I don't think you need to worry about accommodation. Its best if you move into company provided acco initially. That way you are not diving into any commitments. Just get the feel of the this place, schools, etc and then decide if you want to move out independently or live in company provided acco. QA rules are funny and mostly irrational with absolute no consistency ! So if you build up your case as to why you want to move out, they will surely give you the move-out letter… Have seen so many people move out. So its no biggie. At the same time, if you get AKG, its not a bad deal considering you have kids. AKG is loaded with kids of all shapes and sizes. This is a family compound. Schools - Sorry ! But havent reached that milestone yet. Don't worry… You will make lots of QA and non-QA friends here :) edited by Butterfingers on 26/06/2013

@Niggly - Exactly why I asked about experiences with docs here… They just seem to avoid discussing or considering reflux issues. @kiwispers - Aaah… I didn't think that oats could cause problem. On the contrary, I presumed that oats would help him deal better… Well, my body type is such that it gets very heaty as summer sets in. I am acidic all day, and I really have to watch what I eat just so as to avoid stomach upset. In winters, I do great with any kind and any amount of food.. So its natural for me to watch out for my twins's diet likewise… Rather safe than sorry !

My 9 month old DS twin is still reeling with reflux. Usually they say that infants who suffer from reflux at early months outgrow as they reach their 1st bday. Are there any other parents who have had their infants suffering from reflux ? How has you experience with the docs in Qatar been ? I am giving lanzoprazole but that is from a prescription back home. Also what changes can I do in his diet to help soothe the stomach irritation ?? Especially with heat setting in, chances of stomach irritation are more….

Like some of the babies below, my DD also went on milk strike for about 2 weeks.. I panicked and the only way I could trick her to have bottle feed was to trick her while she breastfed. Quietly removed my breast and sneaked the bottle. Sometimes I got caught, sometimes she would have the whole feed. And then she got over it on her own and is back to her normal milk consumption. But I do agree that it is a sign that babies give out when they are ready for solids. So go with the flow. As a mom you would want her to drink milk, so try and trick her or let her go hungry a little longer than you normally would. She will/should guzzle the milk when hungry.

Am a mom to 6 month old twins… I had pain around my pelvic area. I consulted my gynac and he told me its common especially in twin deliveries. The area around hip/pelvic gets stretched a little more than singleton pregnancy. There are cases where the hip bones get displaced. So either consult your doc and get your xray done ! I did my xray which showed everything as normal, and in time the pain went away. Now 6 months later, I don't have any pain there. Of course back hurts like crazy with all the time spent behind 2 monsters leaving no time to lie down to get a breather !

Wow ! I really forgot to add my email address… Oops ! @Kiwispers, I dont think DS is hungry coz he refuses bottle. Have noticed he actually looks out for the pacifier. And my DD, she loves to snack a little before she falls asleep again. I don't want to do CIO coz I really don't have the heart or patience to see them crying their lungs out. I rather take it slowly with other methods as long as I know there is a possibility of they putting themselves to sleep on their own ! @Ginnee, wow… I really needed to hear experiences from mother of twins… Can you please forward me those emails… Wish God sent them with operating manuals <JOKE> edited by Butterfingers on 31/01/2013

Hey Kiwispers, Can you email me the pdf as well… Struggling to sleep train my 6month old twins !!! My DS wakes up crying 2-3 times each night and the only way he will go back to sleep is either with a pacifier or if I hold him in my arms and put him to sleep. And both of them wont put themselves to sleep. I have to rock them…. How do you sleep train twins ? !!?? They wake each other up… And CIO just won't work with twins… Am exhausted !

My twin DS is sleeping a lot past 10days… Initially I thought it was a growth spur, but now I am getting worried coz its quite some time… He barely stays up for about 6hours in a stretch of 24hour span… He wakes every 3hours for a feed. From 12midnight till 12noon, he just wakes up for feed and sleeps off immediately after feed. The 6 hour of staying awake is inclusive of his waking up for milk, crying, playing, bathing etc… And this 6 hour is obviously in installments throughout the day. Is this normal ? All the babies around this age I know are know to be non-sleepers but mine just sleeps...

My DD has a flat left side. Noticed it about a week back. Since then have started to massage her head such that I do round circular movements around her hand, rub a little more on the right side and try and get her to sleep more on right ! And I do notice that the right side does not look as elevated as before. You can do nothing about the flat side, but you can compensate by working on the elevated side

@Ayten - :) Quite honestly, what you wrote is what I wanted to hear.. Wanted to know that am not the only one going through it or rather what is happening is a little common and not my incorrect way of doing things ! Just got back from NICU. Right after replying to kiwispers, I had to admit my DD in the NICU. She had infection in her blood. 10days with antibiotics via IV…. Worst phase of my life. DD in NICU, DS at home (though he was in good hands) :( MY DD refused to take feeds, squirted poop & water, and was drowsy for over 24 hours. Just for all other moms who keep looking at the poop and play guess work; here is what I was advised - Very hard stools, watery stools which they throw out in projectile manner, or blood in stools are the times when you must panic and stress your doc out ! Drowsiness, not taking adequate feeds, watery motions were my DD's symptoms. Anyhow back home :) And am forcing my breast on them, they tire out sucking as I have milk but it doesnt really flow… And then after 40mins of vigorous mouth exercise, I give them 90-120ml of topfeed ! Burp them tirelessly ! And watch their poop like a hawk ! Thanks ladies !

My bubs are 27days old. And so its been 27days where I am still struggling with milk. For starters, I have unusually large aerolas and my nipples are just not attractive enough for my bubs. At the hosp, even the LC struggled to get them to latch. So I was told to pinch and pull my nipples till they are formed and to use breast shield. With c-section done, I was not quite upto giving them my breasts with nipple shield. So they took on bottles from day one. Did pump milk but hbarely pumped 50ml both breasts. Since pumping, my nipples are more or less formed, but obnvi milk flow is less. Have to force them on my breast, and they drink and sleep. But in an hour they wake up crying and hungry ! I knw less milk, not regular breastfeeding and easy access to top feed has caused this. My problem is they are cranky, hungry and harfdly have sound sleep with top feed. Besides I take easy an hour per baby as I have to burp them every few sips. My DS pukes in sleep and DD has projectile milk throwup. Can't stop crying!!! Barely sleep 5hrs inspite of fantastic support at home. Dnt have time or energy to skim thru posts/forums to see how other moms performed. Any moms out there who exclusively top fed their bubs ?!? Were they cranky and slow drinkers like mine ? Would they puke if not burped every few sips? Would they poop as soon as bottle hit their mouth ?

Well, luck does matter ! I guess you know there are 3 rounds and I hope you are confident and comfortable with the parkings. That is where usually quite a few of the lot gets dropped off… The examiners expect to see the drama - like making sure you actually move your head to the left and right and up to the rear view mirror before turning, slowing, etc And mostly they will make you go through the min 3 day course if you flunk your 1st attempt. The training course is their USP and they try and make you spend money on training.

VLCC for weight loss or for beauty treatments ? I tried their facial once and I swore never to return back… And I have kept my word. They start selling you products from the moment they have wished you Good Morning/afternoon at the reception !!! Sigh !! The lady who was doing my facial kept explaining me how 1 facial will do no good and I need a whole package. The fruit facial which I opted was plain cucumber based massage cream which they explained comes under fruit category (they advertise papaya, etc). And the most awkward thing was; once they knew I was there for facial, each and every staff probed me as to why I was not signing up for the slimming package. It made me wonder am I so out of shape ?!? But this is my experience…

@lalala - yep !! Its daily massage after your delivery… The ladies who do this actually massage the baby and mom ! Well, you must know more about which area is delicate and which area needs more attention in the baby and the mother… For example, for the baby; massage a good quantity of oil in the "soft spot". It is the area on top of the head where the bones of the skull have not quite joined ! @ccdoha - Any luck with your contact ?

Totally agree that not all online degrees are looked upon positively ! But look at this Teaching course… Its available by 1-2 universities as online course. So if you want to pursue this then you really don't have too many choices. But on bright side, since only these univs offer course, you have a good number of people doing them thus making them popular in this region :) And ccdoha, you nailed it when you mentioned that Teacher's job is also available to people without Ed degree. Good for them and a little unfair to parents who pay a pile for good education. Am not undermining the newbie Teachers as I am one of them !

@ kelbucko, Ain Khalid is a great compound if you have kids ! Infact quite a few friends of mine moved out coz they thought it was flooded with kids. I stay in Ain Khalid and have pictures of the apt and around to share.. Send in your email id so that I can share them with you. There is a small grocery store which caters to almost all the things you would need on an urgent basis and they home deliver :))) We also have the Qatar Airways preferred laundry which your husband will totally love ! I know friends in other compounds who have to drive out to give and collect their uniforms ! Like Sam mentioned, there is Eldertree nursery, Costa Coffee, excellent gym with trainers, 2 swimming pools again with a swim instructor available. This summer they had plethora of activities for children (music, swimming, aerobics, etc) Villagio Mall, Hyatt plaza Mall, Aspire Park, hypermarkets, Doha Montessori school, Park House school, etc are all just 5-10mins drive away… All in all, it is a great compound ! And he refused to give me a cut 4 months later saying that I still don't need a cut. And this again was confirmed by Ginger@Dados. She too told me that my hair looks good and I can wait for the hair cut.
