Does he have anyone he could have taken or was it a case of go alone or don't go? No as far as i know he had no one to take along, it was a case of go alone or don't go at all. I think my mind is more at ease now to see how many of you would not have a problem with it, as mentioned before it was not a case of that i don't trust him or didn't want him to go but the fact he was going alone. To be honest it all stemmed from the fact that my mom said that this is something that is not done, that's it's not acceptable, but then again i suppose 40 years ago it was not the norm for a man to leave his wife and go gallivant in a new city alone. I have never been a jealous or distrusting person but since being married to DH (who is Arabic and somewhat jealous) i have become too, don't shoot me down but a little piece inside me wants to book to go alone somewhere just to see what he would say/do (although i would never) must just be my Scorpio side coming through :)

I wouldn't recommend acrylic from any salon, its more than a year since i removed mine and my nails are still buggered, weak and pealing. I have heard good things about Gelish though, apparently better than biosculpture

I had severe pain as well after the removal of both my bottom wisdom teeth. I lived off very strong pain killers (think I took brufen!) for the first few days. How long ago did you get them removed? For the second tooth, I sat for 48 hours with a packet of frozen peas attached to my jaw! - it helped tremendously with the pain and the swelling and the recovery was much quicker. After the initial first few days, I then found the stitches really painful as I had a reaction to them (they didn't give me dissolvable ones). They were very sore until the came out 10 days later. Hope you recover quickly and feel better soon. I had them removed on Monday and due to have the stitches removed tomorrow, however its not so much the pain from the swelling or stitches but more like a toothache pain from the rest of my teeth, as if they all have cavities or abscesses

I know exactly the brand you are talking about!! Its hideous & bitter, I think its Barkat or something like that, get in C4. I find the packets of baby spinach from waitrose the best, you find them in the low fridge by the fresh herb plants

I had all four removed as they were ingrown. Yes it will hurt. I was actually on T3s back in Canada so I would ask the dr if maybe he could prescribe something stronger. Also have you been squirting the area with water?? Try also gargling with warm salt water. I am rinsing with warm salt water about every 4 hours, and also tried tea tree oil but nothing is helping,I think I will need to ask for stronger meds. Thanks

Yes, it is. When I had mine removed it hurt me non-stop for 2 weeks. Removal of bottom wisdom teeth is much more painful than for the upper ones. Mine didn't stop bleeding so I had to visit the dentist again. What did you do to help the pain subside?

Thanks for your replies ladies, the agent we are dealing with has POA for the LL, he has advised that we deal with him and not the LL directly. This additional cost(paperwork charges for 1000AED) has not been stipulated in the contract from last year, thats why I think he is trying to pull a fast one. Just wanted to know what i should say when i call him now, as this was said this morning in an email. edited by candyfloss on 17/07/2011

Hi Jampoos, I had a Amnio with Dr. Farah a while back, I can only give postitive feedback, I felt no pain at all only slight discomfort. (my DH on the other hand almost passed out from the pain of me squeezing his hand) But She was brilliant in every way. Dr. Mirza was there as weel but did not carry out the procedure, which in a way I was happy about as sometimes his bedside manners are less then desireable. The 1% chance of miscarriage is really small and she will tell you that they have never had a case where someone has had a miscarriage due to the Amnio procedure at FMC. I had a 1 in 4 chance that our baby was downs, hence the reason for our decision to take the Amnio, I was willing to risk the 1% against the 25% chance of having a Downs baby. The days following are the worst, but just keep positive and surround yourself with friends and family, keep busy and the time will fly by. Goodluck!!

When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. ... Whenever I was "bad," you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?" -- but then you'd relent and roll me over for a belly rub. My housebreaking took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed and listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs" you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day. Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love. She, now your wife, is not a "dog person" -- still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy. Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement. I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of my time banished to another room, or to a dog crate. Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a prisoner of love." As they began to grow, I became their friend. They clung to my fur and pulled themselves up on wobbly legs, poked fingers in my eyes, investigated my ears, and gave me kisses on my nose. I loved everything about them and their touch -- because your touch was now so infrequent -- and I would've defended them with my life if need be. I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams, and together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway. There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and told them stories about me. These past few years, you just answered "yes" and changed the subject. I had gone from being "your dog" to "just a dog," and you resented every expenditure on my behalf. Now, you have a new career opportunity in another city, and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. You've made the right decision for your "family," but there was a time when I was your only family. I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said "I know you will find a good home for her." They shrugged and gave you a pained look. They understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog, even one with "papers." You had to pry your son's fingers loose from my collar as he screamed, "No, Daddy! Please don't let them take my dog!" And I worried for him, and what lessons you had just taught him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility, and about respect for all life. You gave me a good-bye pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to take my collar and leash with you. You had a deadline to meet and now I have one, too. After you left, the two nice ladies said you probably knew about your upcoming move months ago and made no attempt to find me another good home. They shook their heads and asked "How could you?" They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I lost my appetite days ago. At first, whenever anyone passed my pen, I rushed to the front, hoping it was you that you had changed your mind -- that this was all a bad dream... or I hoped it would at least be someone who cared, anyone who might save me. When I realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far corner and waited. I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end of the day, and I padded along the aisle after her to a separate room. A blissfully quiet room. She placed me on the table and rubbed my ears, and told me not to worry. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, but there was also a sense of relief. The prisoner of love had run out of days. As is my nature, I was more concerned about her. The burden which she bears weighs heavily on her, and I know that, the same way I knew your every mood. She gently placed a tourniquet around my foreleg as a tear ran down her cheek. I licked her hand in the same way I used to comfort you so many years ago. She expertly slid the hypodermic needle into my vein. As I felt the sting and the cool liquid coursing through my body, I lay down sleepily, looked into her kind eyes and murmured "How could you?" Perhaps because she understood my dogspeak, she said "I'm so sorry." She hugged me, and hurriedly explained it was her job to make sure I went to a better place, where I wouldn't be ignored or abused or abandoned, or have to fend for myself --a place of love and light so very different from this earthly place. And with my last bit of energy, I tried to convey to her with a thump of my tail that my "How could you?" was not directed at her. It was directed at you, My Beloved Master, I was thinking of you. I will think of you and wait for you forever. May everyone in your life continue to show you so much loyalty

Dally I think our friends out did yours...We got married on a wine estate in SA, after leaving the wedding to go to our honeymoon suite we discovered: Frogs in the bath, our bed on bricks, mud in our pillow covers and smelly blue cheese on each bedside table. Oh what champagne does to to people :) we laughed as we had more of a party than a wedding, we always laugh about it now. Still waiting for our revenge though ;)

My 1 day employment So after landing my new job as an Harvey Nicols greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than a day...... About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance. As I had been instructed, I said pleasantly, 'Good morning and welcome to Harvey Nics. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?' The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, '**** no, they ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other one's 7. Why the **** would you think they're twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?' So I replied, 'I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am, I just couldn't believe someone slept with you twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Harvey Nics.' My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work edited by candyfloss on 12/05/2011

I usually buy the bran muffin mix from Waitrose, from there instead of using full fat milk i use skimmed, instead of sunflower oil i use olive oil/canola, not sure about the sugar content already in the mix but they do turn out yummy nonetheless. Bran also helps to regulate your 'body' systems so its a definately better than other cakes/muffins edited by candyfloss on 10/05/2011

Candyfloss, your boss sounds great. My last job in the UK was like that, too, as you say, it makes sense to act and be treated like adults :) Respeck, innit. Erme, does there happen to be a job going there for a 55 year-old woman who's good at googling? edited by simpleasabc on 10/05/2011 edited by simpleasabc on 10/05/2011 :) Its all about respect. Also wanted to add that my boss has a wife and 3 kids so he understands that life is not all about WORK and the amount of unproductive hours put in at the office. he actually makes us laugh sometimes, he calls in 'sick' in the morning, and then follows with an email to say in all honesty i am bunking and will be working in my garden with my boys today...and dont ever try this with me cause i know its bullsh1t. Gotta love him, and thats why i love my work.

Thought i'd add my 2 cents...I must work for the best company on earth by the sounds of some of your stories. Start at 9 but no one ever says anything if you come late, get a 1 hour lunch break to do as we wish, this can also be taken at anytime of the day you feel you need or can get out the office, as somtimes you cant leave during lunch hours cause there are tight deadlines for other countries. As for home time...supposed to be at 5:30 but it depends on the amount of work, if nothing to do, we can leave early, my boss has a vey 'open door' look on life/work. Often says if you find yourrself on Facebook, then go home and be with your family/kids, cause when get busy and sh1t loads of work comes in, he knows we are more than happy to stay late or come in on weekends. Makes sense really, its a give and take and a RESPECT for people as hi-umans and adults. Its sad to work under such conditions as you ladies, its worse than being back in school!!

I usually crack a raw egg on a burn. Sounds gross but it really helps. You use the egg white, leave it and let it dry, when the egg dries it forms a layer of 'skin', it eases the pain but not sure it helps it heal. edited by candyfloss on 03/05/2011 edited by candyfloss on 03/05/2011
