Morning Ladies, Some practical advice needed, please. We are shortly about to move and our Helper is coming with us. She has been with us for nearly 4 years and has always had her own separate accommodation (large bedsit, on site with sep kitchen). Now however, sadly she is having to downgrade to a standard maid's room and I want to make the transition as easy for her as possible. Can I ask how you arrange the practicalities re cooking? Do your helpers have their own cooking facilities? I know some people set up cooking outside. How does that work? What do you all do? Thanks

PS apologies for the random full stops. My Samsung seems to feel the need to pop in, whenever it feels the need!

Our situation was similar in some ways. We decided to.let our son.do FS1 at his nursery, whilst we were still searching for an FS2 place. How different could it be, right? Surely FS1 is FS1 regardless of where it is. Right? We finally found somewhere that we wanted.him tp go, starting FS2. unfortunately, thry could.not guarantee him a place the following Sept, as priority, obviously would go.to.existing FS1s. BUT, they had some FS1 places for.THAT current academic.year, if we wanted we could join. So he started at that school after a term of FS1 at nursery. I cannot tell you how glad.we are we decided to do that. i truly believe he would have been at a significant disadvantage at the start of this year (FS2) had he not done FS1 at a ’proper’ school. He was familiar with the routines, the behaviour expectations, the educational principles, everything and is doing well. FS2 would have been tough if we had stuck.to our plan & where he was v comfortable, having been at the same.nursery for a couple of years. Just our experience. Every one, every child & every school is different.

Just an update on the Black & Tan Chihuahua I found running loose (Spinneys DSO). I did manage to track down where he lives although sadly, it seems that he is a latchkey dog & he is frequently seen out on the streets, by himself. Some very nice neighbours offered to take him in, as he knows them well, (the maid seemed utterly uninterested & didn't even know he was gone). They said they will speak with his owners again. So, for now, he is safe

Do you know about the Ribbon Campaign in Support of UAE Federal Law No. 16 for Animals? This kicked off a couple of days ago & The Tree is already covered in ribbons. For more details, location map to the Tree & photos see: http://www.facebook.com/nadvethosp#!/media/set/?set=a.516873531688856.1073741826.103269863049227&type=1&comment_id=5501863¬if_t=photo_album_comment (hope that link works, otherwise see www.facebook.com/nadvethosp) We want this to be a peaceful & respectful, yet very visible, show of support for the implementation of this law. Please feel free to take your own ribbon (maybe even write a message on it, as many have done already) & tie it on. Alternatively, please contact us & we will do the rest. xx
