Hi Carrera, you could try the Refinery Beauty Lounge located at the Waitrose on Al Thanya, it's close by to the nursery. My son also starts at Dovecote in Sept :) Thanks! What age group your son will go to? We are second last - my DS will be 21 month in Sept. My son will be almost 23 months in September :) Can we talk offline? edited by Carrera on 19/08/2014

When I saw the list mine was almost the youngest.

Helps if we know where Dovecote nursery is, for those of us without children :) Sorry, https://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=embed&hl=en&geocode=&q=25.14932,55.21052++(Dovecote)&aq=&sll=-37.552712,175.926721&sspn=0.013779,0.01929&ie=UTF8&t=m&ll=25.149325,55.210505&spn=0.011654,0.028925&z=15&iwloc=A - Al Wasl, Al Manara area

I am using laprairie cellular-revitalizing-eye-gel for more then 10 years and will never change it to anything else! Costly, yes, but works perfectly for me! Although, I use it for night only - they say that you should avoid sun after application. And you may feel tingling a bit after application - I can stand it, but a few ladies I know stopped using the gel because of this. It's all very individual - ask for sample and try. I adore it and when I go to sleep late (I have 19 month baby :)) I do not worry much about morning reflection in the mirror - my gel does magic!

Thanks, will start looking, any idea on costs of DEWA in an apartment The electricity itself is AED 0,23 for kW (just looked at my bills) until you reach the certain limit (am not quite sure how much is it), then the price is higher. However, you need to add Housing fee, which is 5% of your rent divided by 12 month and is added monthly to your actual consumption cost. For 2 bedroom our actual consumption has never been higher then AED 200-250.

Miele showroom is in Sama Tower at SZR, between Fairmont and H hotel, just opposite World Trade Center - you should take the service road after Trade Center roundabout. I am not sure if they sell vacuum cleaners, but the showroom is there. http://www.miele.com/international/enint/company/Locations_United_Arabian_Emirates.htm

It's all individual, but with us Aptamil Comfort caused constipation. I switched to normal Aptamil. 3 days is too long - I am sure your pediatrician will recommend you to use glycerin suppositories. Rush can also be a result of constipation. But see the doctor first!

I'm starting to wonder if this is an advert for the nursery. May i suggest you two ladies communicate via email to each other? Why would there be a sleeping room that is not utilized? No, this is not an advert. If it was, I think, we would be posting messages in this thread ONLY. I know some forums have an option to send a "private" messages, but I was not able to find this option here. However, I think that this particular correspondence may help others to understand what kind of questions and concerns must be raised with the nursery. In the meantime, Lolacat, do you know any nursery with utilized sleeping room? Please share (TIA), because not even every nursery has nap policy! At least the ones I was looking at. By the way, Lolacat, if it is an advert - you have also contributed in one of the messages below ;) They are owned and managed by the same group. Why not visit and ask lots of questions and see if it is the right place for your child as such decisions are very personal.[b'> I have only heard positive feedback about this particular nursery.[/b'> edited by Carrera on 05/06/2014 edited by Carrera on 05/06/2014

The class teachers are British. Nannies are mostly from Philipines. Don't know about other staff. Kids are of mixed nationalities, they told me. I'll check with them on Sunday how they tackle language barriers, although I feel your DS will be fine. I can't express enough my gratitude to you! It's so difficult to make a decision in respect of nursery, but it is much more difficult for me being out of the place. Understand, that you are seriously considering Dovecote as you want to see them again? I am reassuring myself with the idea that we have to start with something, and after we have certain experience we'll be able to understand the system better. But whatever I've read about Dovecote was positive. Also Repton primary schools is referred as very strong. I do not look further....

Thank you very much! I am also thinking that being in community he will not want to sleep at his usual time and we'll change the routine! In the meantime, just if you can let me know what is the staff nationality? And kids? Being Russian without any English language I am just a bit concerned how my DS will manage there..... Although he listens to English songs and plays games in English on his iPad....

Dear Carrera, I don't remember seeing any proper beds. I'm not sure if there's a separate bedroom or not. It's a good question though. I'll try to contact them to ask. I was going through the fee structure. It would be AED 10,500 for three times a week and non-refundable registration fee of AED 500. It doesn't say anything about medical fees or fees for books, uniform, etc. Do you have any info on that? No, I have no info regarding medical, but web site says they have nurse on site. If you manage to find this out, as well as for bedroom, please share! All in all I decided to register my son with them - lady Cristina, whom I am corresponding with, advised that they still have places for my DS age (1-2).... edited by Carrera on 04/06/2014

Our LL still takes and gave us discount too. He owns several buildings in Dubai so money is not that big of an issue to him. We have been living in the same apartment for the past 15 years and are good tenants and he knows it. Appletiser, may I ask the LL name? We are thinking to move next year to be closer to my husband's office, which recently relocated to another part of the city and it is now a huge run! We also live in the same building since moved to Dubai (4 years, just changed 1bedroom to 2 bedroom in the same building due to baby arrival). We also pay 4 cheques.

Regarding feedback - this is what they have on the web site: Reporting and Assessment You will be invited to regular parents meetings to discuss your child’s progress. At the end of each day parents with younger children will receive a ‘Day in the Life’ sheet which gives you a brief summary of what your child has eaten, how long they slept for and other relevant information. They will also capture any key moments of your child’s day to share with you. I am surprised, that the gave you different information....

Momtastic11, thank you very-very much! I also still do not give my DS burgers and stuff like that. He has very gentle stomach and I take very special care of what I give him. This is another minus to Dovecote for me.

I did an online research and initially had three nurseries in my list - Dovecote, Little learners and Child's play. LL is feeding for GEM, Child's play - for Kings. I decided that in order to make the process of entering school a bit easier I need a nursery, affiliated with certain school. Child's play is also very nice (pictures, at least) and fees are very reasonable, but Dovecote is a feeding nursery for Repton school, which is IB curriculum school - being an expat in Dubai, we understand that we may move to other place one day and in my understanding if a child is following IB it's going to be easier for him to adjust himself in new school (correct me if I am wrong). I like their timing, the fact that they have "sleep time". My DS is an early bird and his day sleep may start at 11:00. They confirmed that I can stay with him initially until he settles. Understand, that not all nurseries allow this. My DS will be one year and nine month in September and I plan to send them to nursery for 3 days a week only, at least to start with. GEMS also has IB schools in Dubai, but they are popping up here and there almost like MacDonalds and I am not sure that high teaching staff level can be maintained in all branches, when there are so many of them. The latest news also do not add optimism in respect of GEM. http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/education/no-grade-10-class-in-dubai-school-1.1339590 Thank you very much for Dawn Ventures - will definitely contact them as soon as we are back to Dubai. Repton is only IB for the final two years of the secondary school. The Primary school is British Curriculum, the senior school does IGCSEs and then IB Diploma. Thank you, plum2. In this case - any idea of IB licensed PYP school in Dubai? TIA

Dear momtastic11, would appreciate a great deal your feedback about Dovecote. I am out of Dubai now making a research on which nursery I would like my son to start attending in September. This particular one is number 1 in my list. However, I have not been there personally and it will be great to hear your thoughts. They do not have pool, which for me is a limiting factor, because my DS adores water and I would like to encourage him for swimming lessons. But on the other hand, we can always do this outside. Anyway, in anticipation of your feedback. TIA

We drive Volvo S80 for three years. Cannot comment much on parts prices, but the service we always like - they are fast, few times they changed lamps for free. Considering second car XC90. Understand, that service level is also very important in Dubai.

Sorry, not able to help much with the issue, but would like to ask a question, if you do not mind - living in bilingual environment when your kids started to speak? Am concerned about my DS, being almost 1,5 years and not speaking much....
