Oh dear, sorry ladies, you can tell this is my first few days on a forum! Apologies if some random empty text boxes with my user name have appeared.
Julie, I'm asking the same questions also, please let me know if you hear anything! I can't have a driver live-in though.
Good luck with your search and thank you ladies for the helpful replies!
Many thanks!
Hi
I was just wondering if anybody has any information on drivers in Doha, how much they charge etc? I was looking for a driver to take my daughter to school at the Compass International Madinat and take me to work, then pick us both between 1.30 - 2pm and return to Mirage Compound in the Soudan area.
Any information would be appreciated
Kind regards
Julie
Lalala, you post made me smile, I have to admit reversing if you've missed your exit is fairly common place here in Dubai! Maybe it isn't so bad in comparison after all. An Emirati colleague of mine sent me a You Tube link to something i think was called Arab Driving School...I laughed until I cried. Might be a bit tame compared to the antics at Doha airport though kiwispier!
Thank you AEB, yes a limo service sounds very grand (!) but sounds like the way to go on arrival!
Many thanks ladies!
Hi Ladies,
There is a possibility that we may have to relocate to Qatar in the summer. My husband travels around the Middle East so most of the time it will just be me and my 9 year old daughter. Needless to say, I am a tad apprehensive as we have a wonderful support network of friends and colleagues here in Dubai. My two big questions and concerns are
...1) driving...the Qatari drivers clearly make their UAE neighbours look like kittens on the road! I think it's safe to say I won't be driving for a while..respect to you girls out there on the roads! So, would I be able to hire/sponsor a non live- in driver? I can live without a maid(ish!) but I'll definitely need someone to get me to and from work. Taxis here in Dubai are cheap but at busy times when you most need them there are too many 'no shows!' I mostly relied on a reliable cab driver who got me and my daughter to where we needed to be on time. I hear in Qatar it's a similar scenario? How much should I expect to pay for a driver? I would of course provide something akin to a military sized truck...
..2) stables. My daughter and I are mad keen riders. If we're to sell Qatar to her she will need a place to have horse riding lessons etc! She rides three times a week and is a member her local Pony Club branch which really connects her to her stables back home. I would really appreciate any inside info from pony mothers...because as you might appreciate this is a BIG thing.
Any help with these two queries would be hugely appreciated.
Many, many thanks in advance. :-)
