Yep we have used shop and ship for quite a few years it's fabulous. Just watch the weight our average delivery charge is usually around 75 dhs and less

Check what is on on the date you want to go because hampton court often hold special festivals which are amazing. The flower festival is on at the moment my mum is going there today. They also hold a Jazz festival too so I would choose Hampton court over hever if there was something on

Breteuil it's funny how people say that Arabian ranches is far from anywhere. I have found completely the opposite! It's the same 15 minute drive to moe we have the much bigger and better spinneys 5 mins away. There's the golf club and the polo club on the development. We used to live in jumeirah islands and i felt it was handy but having moved to Ar we see so much more of Dubai because everything seems to be 15-30 mins away. We often do a night out at souk al Bahar it was a real hike from Ji to there for a night out. Since the new flyovers have opened and the roundabout has gone Arabian ranches is a fantastic location to get to most places and..... If there's bad traffic you have far more options sheik zayed, al khail, emirates road nd the 611. We have loved our time on Arabian ranches, indian cooking classes, thai cooking, baking demos, book club, cocktails and canapés competitions, dips and drinks, dessert club and that's just what I get up to there plus the nicest group of neighbours for amazing dinner parties and casual sheperds pie in the garden!!!

lol oops.. sorry 600,000 aed .. Husband can work from home... so again, not tied down anywhere. Would anybody choose Emirates Hills, Palm Jumeirah? seems these places have the houses in those price ranges but maybe Arabian Ranches is better? I wouldn't choose either of those (they are lovely) if my kids were being homeschooled. You will end up being a taxi driver all over Dubai! Al Barari would fit your budget but I don't think you can beat Ar for giving your kids the opprtunity to meet kids and do lots if activities without you having to drive so far. Forgot to put golf on the let of things or them to do too. My little boy met lots of different kids there all going to different hoos. Rattan villas are the largest oneson Ar.

You have so many questions. Therevisca search button above and if you out in key words you will find amazing info on here you'll become completely hooked!! There are loads of leather sofas here. Ltsof great furniture stores too but will depend on your taste and budget. Very popular is the one, marina, ikea, home centre, homes r us, home decor, etc, etc As your kids are so young you might find it easier to be in a villa without a pool but live on a community like Arabian ranches where they have a large filled and heated pool with tennis courts, playgrounds. We lived right opposite the pool and swam more there than we did when we had our own pool! They have shaded toddler pools too and you'll meet people there and make friends very quickly. Hoe this helps. Feel better soon and enjoy Dubai. We came over or 2 years stayed for 5 snd are leaving next week. My kids were the same ages as yours it been a fabulous experienc for us all .

Thanks cp! Watched the container leave the villa yesterday so have been a busy bunny!! Bmap would have loved to sell it to you but we leave on 15th and to buy a car here you need to have your insurance in place ready for transfer of registration so sounds like it's not to be. It's ipanema sand, never been off road i(in fact my dh travels so much hat its hardly been on any road!!!!) its 1 year old, immaculate. We had 1 person look and they want it they are out of the country at the mo but have e mailed to say yes they want it so if they don't come over by Monday I will get back to those who have expressed an interest (three have been quite a few!) . My understanding is you can't get 2nd hand lr4s at the mo they're too new so hardly anyone is selling them. It's such a fabulous car that I have one on order in the Uk and heard yesterday that it's built and ready for my collection (very excited). So....watch this space for updates.

600 aed! You'd need to buy a tent and find a nice piece of desert! 600k I'd do the same as cyclone. Lovely villa with pool on Arabian ranches and bank the rest. Your kids will have so many other kids to play with and there are lots of after school things on Arabian ranches so they'll meet friends quickly and not feel left out from not attending a school. Ida do football, join arabian knight rugby, brownies, rainbows etc

Definitely Karama I get my teenage nephews abercrombie ones and my sister tells me they wear them all the time. I go to Bon Dutch as the quality is superb and they was really well.

When we came over to Dubai we felt that our 2 cats would not cope with the heat and they loved being outside climbing trees and chasing butteflies so we made the hard decision to leave them in the UK with a lovely lady who moved into our home to cat and house sit. After 3 years we got a call to say that one of the cats had been run over. It was an accident that could have happened any time and although we were really sad we knew that we had made the right decision keeping them in the UK and we had all our holiday time with them over the summers. When we went home that summer after george the cat had gone we realised that Mildred was really really lonely and missing him. After being there for a couple of days we made the decision to bring her over to Dubai and keep her indoors. So we completed all the forms, got all the shots used a great company Airpets in the UK who organised everything for us and Alison at the Dubai Doghouse to get her sorted through here and she arrived safe and sound and started her new life as a Dubai indoor cat. She has been fantastic and it's been so lovely having her here with us - she settled in within a day and apart from the 10 days she decided to go missing a few months ago - she's been happy to be an indoor cat. She is now at the vets being prepared for her flight back to the UK. She's 14 and there's no way on earth I would leave her here. The vet has checked her over and she's fit and healthy - in fact he couldn't believe she is such an old cat she looks so great. She leaves on Saturday and is booked into a lovely country cattery until we arrive back home and we will pick her up and she can retire back in the garden and up a tree if she can get up a tree!!!! I think I would dig deep - and bring her over - they are part of our families. I have loved having Millie here and so have the kids. But......if it's a real financial issue there are lovely cat lovers who will offer your cat a loving and caring home. I know because the lady who looked after our 2 loved them like they were her own and they were beautifully looked after and groomed. good luck - it's not an easy decision.

Circle (Jum Beach Road) has H&H bagels. It's great in there isnt it. They also do the best carrot cake in Dubai in my opinion!

Very good 2nd hand market if you'd been here in the next week you could have had our 1 year old land rover lr4! My prado is being sold tomorrow. It's an easy process too so I've been told will post if it's not but I'd use that 42k to stay in lovely hotels in the region and eat in some amazing restaurants and not give to a Lessing company or.......spend it in one hit at the gold and diamond park!!!!!

Juan Salon 04 4389570 They did pretty bad blone highlights (or rather chick-yellow), which i had to re-do later in another hair salon. But then, Juan himself only did the cut (nothing great either) and another stylist did the color. Overall-waste of DHS650. But still, most people seems to be really happy with his work. So maybe you really should book with Juan himself and no one else, if you decide to go there. Good luck:) You should have called Juan and gone back he would have done it for you himself. I only ever have Juan for cut and colour and have dine for the last 5 years. The great thing about Juan is it's his salon and his family are here so he's here for the longterm so many hairdressers here are here for a year and youre back to looking for a new one.

Picked up my canvas pictures from Le cadre in sawa the other night and wow! The photos wer had taken on our shoot in the desert are absolutely amazing on canvas and will be hanging all over our home in the UK to remind us of a fabulous early morning in the desert. Our next thing to do is a lunch at the highway man inn 18dhs all u can eat!!!!!!!! When we arrived we saw it in our first week and vowed we would go (I think it was 15dhs then!!!! ) will report back!!!!!

Went to the Zabeel Saray hotel the other night - stunning stunning stunning - definitely worth driving down there. We booked dinner at the Indian restaurant there and it was absolutely amazing - so glad it was on my bucket list - think we will probably get to do it one more time before we leave!

Live as close to work as you can because the travel/traffic can be a nightmare. So - if you are based in internet city - you would be close to The Meadows, The Springs, 10/15 mins from Arabian Ranches, victory Heights, Jumeirah Village, Green Community Motor City. If you were working at the airport you'd be better looking at Mirdif, The Villa, Cedre Villas, Podium villas at Business Bay. Hope that helps. As you have a small baby I would recommend moving to a community rather than a stand alone villas as you might feel quite cut off. Most of the communities have fabulous community facilities like playgrounds, pools and you'll meet peiople very quickly.

If your kids are happy at WIS I'd leave them there and move to Arabian Ranches - it's a super easy run now the new flyovers have opened through Al Barsha - and your DH will have a super easy commute to work too - AR is such a lovely community to live in. We were in Jumeirah Islands before we moved to AR and I find AR far far more central - we see far more of Dubai from here turn left and you get new dubai - turn right and you get old dubai! Good luck with your plans.

I know quite a few people whose children go there and they are very very happy - I know a couple of parents who moved their children as they were not - like most schools in Dubai - you can't please everyone but generally I've only heard good stuff. we took the tour before it opened and it sounded great but we chose a different school and we were very happy with that choice. If you have a good feeling when you go there, your child seems to like it and you think it would suit - go for it!

The antiques museum is probably one of the best places if you don't want to pay top money. Be prepared as it's not a museum and there don't seem to be any antiques!!! but it's the most fascinating place. I take all my visitors there and they love it. I've bought lots of lanterns there over the years and they are a good quality. Be warned - it's filthy dirty in there so don't swan in in white linen!!!! Great place to spend an hour rummaging around. It's lots of warehouses all together. I'm due in there in the next few days for my final bits to take back with me. Enjoy it. BMAP - it's an amazing place......

Can you get them to bake some cupcakes with you and when they are out of the oven get them to decorate them and then they get to eat them..... Homemade playdough is always a great time waster. My 2 loved putting all the chairs together and draping a sheet over to make a tent and spent hours in there - I'd serve all their meals in there as they seemed to eat more for some bizarre reason! I also always buy the big roll of paper from Ikea and we have a big box of crayons, paints etc and they can spread the paper over the floor and draw and paint as long as they like - that gave me an hour or so to myself! They also both love doing home made pizzas - I would buy the ready made bases and put out little bowls of lots of different ingredients and they would get creative. Very funny if they put faces on them too with peppers and olives etc - and best bit about that was they would generally eat them all up to! sorry your little boy isn't doing too well. I always put petit filous in the freezer with a lolly stick and on days when they werent too interested in food especially when it's hot they would lick and suck on this thinking it was a lolly but at least I got a fromage frais into them! I also freeze those frubes - same idea. Hope all returns to normal soon.

Hi Claire, I was in Satwa looking for Le Cadre today but couldnt find it. Can u give me directions to it? It's opposite the side of west zone supermarket. Turn left into satwa from Iranian hospital and turn first available left and Le cadre is about 3 shops in on the left. They close around 1.30 til 4 most days be warned. Open til 9 pm

So do u people go round with your ears and eyes shut?.....not listening to the news/tv radio/facebook or look at the papers...As they have all been discussing it this morning. I have to watch a final when its happening thats why its exciting. I can never watch it the next day espically sports like tennis football etc. Yes - if it's something I want to watch I don't do news/tv/radio or facebook and I never look at the papers here anyway.

Thanks, Claire. I think his GP is very much on the ball - he arranged the initial blood tests and after saying Dad should go back in a week for the results, called him within a couple of hours, and then after the first scan didn't wait for the hospital to send the results and called them instead. He seems to be keeping the momentum going, for which we have to be thankful. Thanks for those suggestions. I'll bear them in mind in case we need them. Sounds like he's getting the best care he can get - thinking of you and hope next week is not too hard for you.

Mum shopped at Asda last week and apparently they have this new thing whereby if your shopping would have been cheaper at another store they refund 10 per cent of your bill, and for that particular shop Waitrose would have been cheaper so they gave her a voucher for a couple of quid! :D Waitrose cheaper than Asda. No way!?:\: Yeah they are doing a price comparison and matching thing with all teh other big supermarkets - brilliant!

We are moving next weekend and dont need the cooker and dishwasher in the new villa but do need them until we move....couldnt work out when to advertise them or how much to sell them for. Dubaicat - I think going home and trying to attend some of the appointments with your Dad is a good thing to do. It sounds like he's having great care - I think a lot of this depends on having a great GP and a good local health authority - sounds to me like he's got both. We have had experience of both ends of the scale - long drawn out tests and diagnosis and quick turnaround of tests and quick treatment. I wish him all the best and hope you can get him the right help and treatment. If he is diagnosed with cancer there are lots of excellent support services in the UK. Macmillan Nurses, Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie Trust. Sending you a big hug xxx

we're going home but it would be cheaper to stay...going to spend more on groceries, and the price of fuel... o m g.. eating out costs more and takeaways (if we can even get them lol) are loads dearer... given the choice i'd say stay, unless you have loads of family to visit which is really our main reason for going... Where will you be going to? If it's the UK go onto the money supermarket they have loads of money off vouchers for places like Pizza Express and Zizzi's.

There isn't a second hand shop as far as I am aware which is why Dubizzle is so good. Raj ships the stuff out of Dubai and sells in a different country but I'm sure he'd sell on. He's a really good guy. He's picking up my oven and dishwasher and delivering to my friend and he's taking her old stuff - he's been over already and agreed a price etc. When you get here call him and see what he has available and come to an arrangement. Not sure I would go to a second hand shop and hand over any money here..... Do you have a date now for coming over? when I see Raj this coming week I'll mention to him that you might call him......and tell him to look after you!!!!

How does one do it?! I must admit that I have buried my head in the sand as I am so daunted by it all. When, for example, do you sell your cooker and fridge as I think I need those until the end? When do you sell your bed? My questions are endless. I'm so bewildered by it all. Don't know how to start. Any advice? I have come across a great little man who will come over - take a look at your stuff - give you a price and collect it onthe day you move out.....now can't guarantee completely but....he cam over - agreed a price on my fridge freeser and paid me half already and will come on our moving out day next week with the the balance. Reaching out to the helpful masses :) My eldest sister, OH and DS (2 and a half) are considering making the move over to Dubai from the UK. She is a hairdresser, with around 20 years experience (pretty much all she's ever done :)), Toni & Guy trained and all that biz... We're thinking that the best route would be to set up mobile here (licenses etc. no problem) but would like to get a feel for how many people would use a mobile hairdresser, how often and what for... Would very much appreciate any feedback or experience that anyone can offer so we can try to make a plan. TIA Is she coming over with her OH and his job or is she thinking she will be able to come over and sponsor him and their child? When you say she's T&G trained ....did she do her full apprecticeship with them or just take a course at their academy - and all that biz as you say - that's a big differnence. If she's an amazing hairdresser she should contact Ted Morgan Hairdressing on The Palm - they take on excellent Western fully qualified hairdressers and give them the full proper package.
