You say you are already paying 40 k more so you have a strong case for no increase I think it would b a hard on to ask for a decrease. I'd send a letter to the ll stating you wish to renew at the same rent in accordance with the rear guidelines. Attach the rera table

June 19th this year and there is a place to enjoy it http://jumeirah-island-club.blogspot.com It's a lovely clubhouse - it should be it took so long to open! I had a lovely lunch there with friends when it first opened. I wish them welll. You might want to get the spelling of jumeirah on the blog put right....

Can't believe you are leaving us. I still remember on my first post on schools, yourself, Spongemoney and Smokey Seven (now Boomerang in her nth EW life) were the first EWs to respond when I was tearing my hair out. Best of luck Clare, dont forget that cat!! :) No worries - Millie the cat is all ready - her pet passport is up to date all her jabs are done - she's booked into a beautiful cattery in the country to wait for us to return home and then she can go back to climbing the trees in our garden and lying in the grass!

the KHDA rule is that fees are due at the start of term but......very few schools follow this rule and when you contact the KHDA about it they don't give a toss..... I think the way around it is that the fees are paid with post dated cheques - is that what the nursery are asking for - if not - then offer them that.....

We dealt with Alison at the Dubai Doghouse. she's very helpful. she collected our cat from the airport and delivered her to us. she works with most of the vets here in Dubai and is well known. She will be able to help you clear your cats in Dubai . We used airpets in the Uk and they were superb. you need to read your contract as often you need to give notice that you wish to renew. You also need to check that you have a renewable contract. If you signed a non-renewable contract then you will have to move...... its usually 60-90 days notice to renew so if you have that in your contract you needed to have informed the LL of your wish to renew..... Pull out the document and go over it with a fine tooth comb. If you have not followed it to the letter he could well use that to either try to get you out or put the rent up. You should be fine if you have only been there 1 year you should be able to stay at the same rent. Let us know and we can advise you once you know what you have signed......

We did a digital photo frame - we scanned in lots of old pictures from their wedding day and then kids christening and kids wedding photos then the arrival of grandchildren etc etc and important family pictures it sits in their lounge on random so they get to see so many special photos each and every day reminding them of the 50 years they spent together. We uploaded photos from their golden wedding celebration after the event so it was completely up to date.

I have just crossed my fingers and bought 2 Vouchers of Siamin Thai Restaurant by dealgobbler. Just hope I dont regret it! The food is lovely in there. I did a thai cooking class there with the chef - it's a really nice little restaurant.

Dubai Laundry are fantastic - they deliver and pick up from Jumeirah Islands so I'm sure they'd do DG. don't ahve their number handy but do a search on here as I always recommend them. Have used them for 5 years and they're excellent.

You don't say how old he is. I do a photo montage but get it done on canvas at Le Cadre in Satwa and the kids love it - a lovely reminder of their time with their friends from their time in Dubai.

I was given a sample pot of Placenta (yes placenta) eye gel to try yesterday. It is meant to penetrate/re-hydrate/encourage natural collagen and so plump/firm up the eyes. (Some top stars use it apparently). Cant comment on how good it is at the moment though as last night was only night 1. ooooooh that sounds gross!....

Just checked as I thought I was going completely bonkers! I am right! Same uniform in year 1 as reception. boys still wear the polo soft shirt. they go into the cotton white shirt in year 2 and only introduce the tie and blazer in year 3. If you go onto the school website there is a uniform section with a full list of al the items each year requires.

Yes, its the same for girls. Boys need a cotton white shirt and tie for year 1. No - they don't wear ties in yr 1 in fact I think the first time they wear ties is in year 3 - I don't remember my little boy wearing one in year 2.

Who is letting their child play for 5 hours without protection? I thought the OP was asking about ten minute breaks at school, most of which is shaded? The OP asked opinions about playtime at school, she did not state 10 mins, most breaks are far longer than that. Most schools in reality do not apply sun screen to your child or have fully shaded play areas. Not all schools encourage drinking of fluids or encourage the wearing of hats with neck covers. A poster on here said she did not see a problem with children playing outside............maybe she should have clarified her response a little better. Heat stroke is a real threat with children and parents have every right to find out from their school what the summer playtime protocol is and make requests for their own children is felt needed. I am amazed that in Dubai no one encourages the use of sun glasses, blue eyed children should be encouraged to wear sun glasses to protect their eyes. In other schools in the ME the use of sunglasses is very much encourged for out door time. Which school in Dubai has 5 hours of play time - what are you paying school fees for. Boomerang you need to look at a different school if your child is playing for 5 hours!

Just been through this buying a similar sized diamond. I specifically wanted a GIA cert as the jewelers at home recognize it as being the best - lazer inscription being the clincher. The diamond has since been valued at home for over double the price paid. Having said that, my own ring isn't GIA but I think still fabulous. Some of the jewelers in the G&D park have GIA certified diamonds but many don't. I was lucky that my guy had the diamond already - I would be wary of ordering one in as some shops were asking for a 10% deposit. It would be advisable to see the diamond first before you hand over any money. Hope this helps Can you let us know who you used please AF.

to be perfectly hionest I don't think they work so well. I had a friend who bought one and her little boy slept through the alarm...... When they are little it's just training and reducing their liquid intake close to bedtime and then getting them to go to the loo just before they go to bed. If they are older and still bed wetting it should be checked out as there could be a problem.

If it was reptured they wld of course, but this is not its accute - as I have mentioned several times But acute can rupture at any time - my friend had that and like tally ho - it ruptured whilst she was on the operating table...... I'm not sure how a dr can be so sure that it won't rupture... good luck and hope you are feeling better soon.

By law he can claim that he needs the property back for his personal use, so if he is looking to revenge on you for taking issue over the rent likely he is probably going to use this route. Makes it really not worth disputing the rent if they have this option I think. Sorry for your situation. He has to prove he needs it back and if they don't move in he has to pay you compensation...... Our LL told the rent committee that he needed it for his own personal use and the rent committee ruled that we were allowed to stay for up to 3 years in the property. Our LL was told to speak to him own LL. Of course, it turned out he didn't need it at all...... the rent committee can see through these scams. Yes, maybe so but it leaves the OP with yet another battle to take up with the rent committee I guess Honestly - it's no big deal - the Rent Committee are really fair and if they see that a LL is being unreasonable they deal with them for you. If he's trying to evict during the course of their newly renewed tenancy contract I'm sure the rent committee would be very happy to put him right! When I was there I heard one of the guys at the rent committee get on the phone and tell a persons landlord in no uncertain terms what the rules and regs were.
