Believe it or not, dinner tonight is tartiflette! Less than 48 hours before we move to Dubai so need to take advantage of local offerings here... Should I post flight details so I can be greeted by the EW Forum Welcoming Committee? ;) the welcoming committee will only be there if you have tartiflette in your handluggage to share with us all!!!!! Have a good flight and good luck in your new adventure!

400 dhs shipping - that's daylight robbery! If you have a shop and ship account it will be way cheaper or see if a friend will let you use their account. If you have guests coming over order it and send it over with them.

some friends hired out the gym at Star School Umm Sequem - imagine you could hire that and bring in a soccer person. they did party games, but dont see why you could not do soccer. they had to be careful of floor, but took large mats and did food, etc on them, so there was no mess. worth checking into if you need indoor venue my little boy has been to a football party at Star school - I'm pretty sure it was run by the guys from IFA - worth calling them - it was a very good party - the football guy was excellent. Contact them on http://www.ifasport.com/

I have never wanted to carry on walking before though. I almost hated them and right now I am still not speaking to them. I have them pretty much 24 / 7. Think I need a break from my own children I think at some stage in being a Mummy we all need a little break away from them - we love them but we don't have to like them all the time......

I'd send flowers and a little note and most definitely the offer to send the bag to the spa......if it had happened to me I would be touched that you had tried to put it right even if it doesn't work. I think I'd also change drinking from red to white!!!!! <em>edited by Clairehdp on 17/04/2011</em>

Thank you lovely ladies. I have made my appointment at Ted Morgan. I will post another thread for Maroon 5. Also one more silly question, when getting your car washed in the mall do you tip the cleaner as they want the money before they work? MiniMax - thanks for the petrol station info. I am sure it will come in handy. I usually give them extra and just ask that they do a really good job - have never been let down.....so far.....

I am looking for a reliable online shop, in order to buy a bouquet of flowers for a funeral in the states. Has anyone done that from Dubai? Not sure how it works in the US but in the UK if you know who the funeral directors are they usually work with the florists or can recommend a florist to you. I always use a florist close to where the flowers are needed and do the same as the other poster and google for recommendations - and contact them direct or order on their own website.

Its 2 pieces for U.S: Always has been for economy: World Traveller Plus World Traveller Two bags 23kg free (up to 32kg at £40/US$60*) (see ba.com) This is how I read it, then I doubted my understanding - that's good news! I know people enjoy knocking BA but over the years we have flown with them a lot and have amassed quite a few air miles so this is actually a redemption flight. Last year we went to/from the US with them and enjoyed all the flights plus they are often so much cheaper than EK and as we pay our own tickets we care, big time, how much our flights cost!! CP - are you travelling world traveller plus - if so then yes - you can take 2 bags - if not......it's the good old 1 bag at 23kg

Its 2 pieces for U.S: Always has been for economy: World Traveller Plus World Traveller Two bags 23kg free (up to 32kg at £40/US$60*) (see ba.com) No - it's definitely only 1 bag at 23kg - if you are a gold or silver card holder then it's 2..... You have quoted world traveller plus but the OP states she has booked economy which is world traveller/euro traveller so it's just the one bag Here below is the full free baggage allowances for BA Free baggage allowances Free allowances for all flights EXCEPT Brazil, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria and connecting journeys between India and USA/Bermuda/Canada First Club World Three bags Up to 32kg BA will waive the heavy bag charge Same as adult allowance plus one fully-collapsible pushchair (stroller) and one car seat One bag plus one fully-collapsible pushchair (stroller) and one car seat. You cannot pay to take extra bags for an infant Club Europe Two bags Up to 32kg BA will waive the heavy bag charge World Traveller Plus Two bags 23kg free (up to 32kg at £40/US$60*) World Traveller Euro Traveller Domestic One bag** 23kg free (up to 32kg at £40/US$60*) British Airways Gold and Silver Executive Club members, American Airlines Executive Platinum and Platinum members and Iberia Plus Platinum and Plus Gold members can check in 2 bags in all cabins, on all routes, unless the cabin allowance is greater. British Airways Gold and Silver Executive Club members, American Airlines Executive Platinum and Iberia Plus Platinum members will be exempt from the heavy bag charge for bags weighing between 23kg and 32kg. I bought the teachers handbook for Jolly Phonics - it's great and has worksheets at the back that you can photocopy and use. It was exactly the same stuff that my 2 were using at school and it really helped me to understand how the programme worked. I now have 2 great little readers. If you'd like it you can have it for a song!

I agree the Oman dive centre is lovely but it has got very pricey. Their website say it is High season until 30 April and a double occupancy hut is 82 O.R. (approximate 820 dhs) for half board. Wow - I'd pay 820 for half board for 2 it's such a stunning stunning location. Might book it myself now!

I always used Howdra and they were slightly more than other agencies but their girls were very well trained and they would send me the same person every week so I could trust her and give her a key. I used others before finding Howdra and they were much cheaper and not at all good......

I can guarantee she is very close by unless someone has picked her up and taken her home, hopefully with the idea of finding her family. Has she been microchipped? knock on everyones doors next to, in front of and behind and ask to look in their gardens. Put something of hers by your front door so she can find her smell. Contact Feline Friends and put up her information in the lost and found section of FF www.felinefriendsdubai.com there is also a section there wit ideas in finding a lost animal. Thanks SueB, I've d contacted feline friends and posted on their FB and their website. She is microchipped but I have to find her little book with the number to give to FF, and for the life of me can't find it today. Stressing out about this wee thing as she is really sweet and I don't think she knows what she's doing. If you call your vet they should have her microchip number on her records. Also let the vets know with an e mail and photo - I found the vets to be really helpful when we lost our cat.

We have a Fisher and paykel with Gas hobb and electric oven. The oven is easy to control, but does run 25 degrees too hot - so I just adjust the temp down. (When it says 175, I set it too 150). Got it from Betterhomes? When we were looking only found 2 that were Gas hobb and electric oven - Electrolux and F&P...though there probably are others. Cant remember what mine is but its not one of the ones you mentiin we got ours from carrefour or geant cant remember that either!!!!! Really push the sales guys as they do exist and its great to have electric oven so if you run out of gas your dinner is not spoiled!!!!! edited by Clairehdp on 16/04/2011 <em>edited by Clairehdp on 16/04/2011</em>

Mods, Please keep this on the main board for a little bit, my poor wee kitten has gone missing this morning and she's only a baby and not very street wise. My Kitten went missing this morning/last night Saturday 16th April 2011, she's quite young, and is short hair black with two white patches on her tummy. She went missing from Springs 6, but she could have gotten anywhere. She is wearing a light blue collar with a pink name tag which has two phone numbers on it. If you see her/find her please call me on 050 4568789 She is really friendly with us and visitors but not sure how she would fair out on the streets scared :( If you find her please let me know thank you. Get a picture and make up a poster and start dropping into all the villas in your area. Give to the maids and gardeners and get the security guards on board too. She cant be far away and is orobably hiding as shes scared. Dont give up looking for her. Ir cat was missing for over 10 days and we found her thanks to our leaflet drop. Get out and call her fingers crossed she'll come out for you xx

A crowd of friends are holding a wedding breakfast in one of our friends homes. We are all dressing up in our now defunct "mother of the bride" outfits, nibbling canapes and sipping champers while watching live coverage on TV! One friend has her own wedding stationery business and is supplying little horse drawn carriages filled with "favours". Our DH's are hitting the local pub LOL!! sounds lovely Joyce! I was in the UK last week and there's such excitement about the wedding - shame we are not there for it as it would be fab to have another street party but......I think the Polo club bash should be loads of fun - we have a great table with great friends so should be a day to remember. I know all the kids can't wait to celebrate an important piece of history.

Clare, was thinking of this how do you go about booking it (Polo club?) and also do you know how much it would cost for 2adults and 2 small people. I heard its 100aed a car? and then someone else told me it was around 450 per adult/ TIA I think it sold out ages ago but I may be wrong....... Just checked for you - yes - the whole brunch part is sold out but you can go to the polo for 100 dhs for the car and then stay on for the after wedding party for 50 dhs per person...... Here's the link with full details for you - http://www.poloclubdubai.com/en/events/event-cat/royal-wedding-polo-cup-2011-2.html hth

grosvenor house is nice and it's got the Buddah Bar downstairs which is great and the bar at the top which is fab - great indian and Gary Rhodes Mezzanine but.....if I was late 20s I'd stay in Al Qasr/Mina A Salaam and take the abras to all the bars and restaurants there - would also do The Address or the Armani hotel and then spend time in downtown Dubai. I'd do dubai mall and then do cocktails and dinner by the fountains and then back to some of the most gorgeous bars for late night drinks. I'd also book them the Burj Khalifa tour to the top. If it's a once in a lifetime trip I'd book afternoon tea at the Burj Al Arab too.......
