Absolutely - if the agent is only contacting you now perhaps they have on their books that it's still on a 30 day notice period otherwise why didn't he contact you at 60 days advance! I would go back straightaway and ask for a reduction and repairs to be done. Then start looking to see what else is out there and available and be ready to go if they won't negotiate. If you hve been in the property for 5 years though you are presumably paying a pretty reasonable rent if the LL stuck to the rules of the rent cap - if he didn't and increased the rent substantially year on year then you must try hard to get a reduction. good luck!

Hello ladies... Does anyone have any info on al barari. Such as - is the community fairly vacant or are a number of peope moved in already? Is it a construction zone or pretty mch completed? Is the community village open? And how long is the drive from al barari to moe? Any info is welcome. Thx everyone -) I know a number of people who live there - a few moved in during the summer so have been there quite a while now. It would be a good 25 minute drive to Mall of the Emirates from there. Not sure how many are occupied so best to go up and take a look around.

Maybe you could join a medical agency if there is such a thing and work through them until you are back from your trips.

Most of the well known photographers here will do them. Stu Williamson does our school photos but they're not reasonably priced!!!! I like Stu but i really have not been impressed by the school photos, tends to be pot luck as to what you get. Think that depends on who takes them - it's not Stu......

not used them myself but have been to parties where both have done the catering and I personally thought Marta had the edge. edited to add they catered different parties - sounds like they both catered the same party which is not what I meant! edited by Clairehdp on 15/01/2011

I'm pretty sure that the other sponsors get their deposit money back once the visa has been transferred over. Check that with the guys at immigration when you all go in there.

I have to add, a will is the last wishes of someone. To go against this is not right either. Now I am in a tizz and almost backtracking, as on one hand, It's horrible that your elder daughter is upset but on the other hand your MIL has a right to decide to whom her most sentimental things go to. you are right - she has every right to decide to whom her things go to - but......it is then really up to the recipient to do with those items as she wishes and if she chooses to share with her half sister - then that would be a nice thing to do.....

To add, doesn't sound as if we are speaking about valuable estate jewellery here though.... she has the guts to tell you beforehand though? yeah I was wondering that - perhaps it's her way to provoke a response/reaction. I think I would tell her it's her stuff to do as she pleases - if it was me and I inherited lots of jewellery and my sisters were left out I'd share it with them.....hopefully your other dd will see that it's not fair and all will be sorted out after your MIL has departed these shores.

Absolutely not - I would rather wait a few weeks and go back to the original hairdresser if you are happy - I would never risk a trim at at a cheap salon.

Checked with hairdresser. He's Lebanese and not too confident about the fact that he can deliver the structured haircut that the girl wants. She has longish hair and wants it to be shorter i.e. Above shoulder length. How odd........I think in that case I would ask some of her friends where they go and book into one of the hairdressers that her friends use.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have a related question...is there a limit to how long maids can be out of the country for when going for a holiday and still on a valid visa to return? 28 days? I think the exit pass from the Polo office is valid for 60 days but I'm not 100% sure - best to check with them.

Yep have started down the road of getting referred to an ENT specialist as I think its time she saw someone too. She has also recently been diagnosed as asthmatic (childhood asthma) so I think it must all be connected. Its scary for her when she gets dizzy and she just clings on to me and cries. Awful Poor little thing. The good thing about here is that it's not like in he Uk where you have to wait to be referred so pick up the phone make an appointment and get her seen today if you can. Best for them to see her when she is suffering from these episodes than trying to explain what they are like.

Time to be referred if not already to an ENT to see if she needs grommets or if there is a link to the ear infections from something like swimming. It maybe she needs to wear a nasal clip for swimming or have some sprays to help keep her eustachian tubes open/dryer , they could be a bit narrow and infections are not clearing. Best to get her referred to an ENT. edited by Jumeriah Jane on 15/01/2011 Just interested why do people get referred here when you can just ring direct and get an appointment? I don't go to the dr here to be referred as you just pay them to tell you need to see a specialist - cut out he middle man and go direct - that's what I do with the kids. Yeah but if you are backwards and forwards to a dr for ear infections there comes a time to call it a day and I would, if I was in this situation, go to a specialist now it's gone into a different league. This would save the insurance company a dr fee too! Well that should all be changing soon (going direct to a specialist). The problem with going direct is that patients are not doctors and a lot of time is wasted by specialists seeing patients who should be being seen or good have been treated by a GP. There will be move soon to change this as insurance companies will refuse to pay if you go directly, well that was the recent info published in the press. If you have a good GP you should go to them first for a referral to the right specialist.

[b'>That is very sad that the MIL did not think to leave a token for the eldest[/b'>. I would certainly let her know how you feel. I cannot understand SalsB why you would tell your daughter something that would only hurt her more? I would think when the time came that you receive the jewellery and split it between the girls without either knowing the actual truth. I agree. Surely SOMETHING to show that MIL acknowledges the older DD as part of her/her son's family wouldn't be too difficult? If she only gave socks at Xmas she's hardly going to leave anything worth having anyway. Sounds to me like she's bitter about something with her son and this is her way of getting at him. Childish and hurtful for all but at least they know and should move on and rise above it be the bigger person.

Sounds like she needs to see an ear nose and throat specialist now. There's a really good paediatric ENTdr called dr Bhagat in jumeirah. I would get her checked with him especially if she is having multiple ear infection. Hope she feels better soon and you get to catch a few hours kip edited by Clairehdp on 15/01/2011

If a child has frequent contact with their bio father and his family then yes, I would assume they would be in the will of their paternal family, but many children have no contact at all with their biological fathers/family at all. Many of these are living with another man assuming the role of their father, who treat him as a father and who gets treated as the father's child - no distinctions. In this case I think it would be very upsetting to go through life calling a man 'Dad', to have him act as your Dad only to find that [i'>his[/i'> parents think it's a title in name only. edited by Sanddy_Dogg on 15/01/2011 Sd I completely understand that but just putting another slant to how this lady might be viewing this. Could you please tell me which company and how much it cost? I've said!!!!! It's the Dubai Doghouse! Can't remember what we paid but she did all the paperwork met the animal at the airport, cleared her through and brought her to our villa door. Lovely lady and easy to deal with. Would highly recommend them. They know how to get the animal through the process quickly. Some I kow have done it themselves to save money but it took them a long time and going from pillar to post at the airport. We chose to use this agent from recommendations from here and we were delighted.

They now do a pregnancy test a part of the medical so I doubt that there will be a big time gap. Why not just get it done a week before you plan to renew. You don't have o go with her. I always pay for urgent and it's done and dusted and it means i can get the whole process done in 2days.

Although it sounds mean and unfair and your eldest daughter is feeling very hurt........you say she is not the biological grand daughter so maybe yr mil is just keeping her stuff within her blood family. I dont know the circumstances but if yr daughter was from a previous relationship she has a grandmother from that fathers side. My dh has a half sister and there is no way on earth that he would expect to receive anything or be mentioned in his half sisters fathers mothers will.

I was just going to start using them as I saw the van on our development yesterday, now I'm a bit nervous. If they lost DH's work shirts he'd be furious. Anyway - I'm sat here looking at the flyer they gave me (when I flagged them down). It has all manner of phone numbers on them. Do you want some alternatives? Hopefully it's a blip as I've used them and recommended them to many and I've only ever had positive feedback from those who have used them.....

Hmmm... Fingers crossed you get them back soon. Thanks! It's not like they are valuable just work shirts, was just interested to see if anyone else has had the same experience of the company, maybe the man was sick last week and not doing the deliveries. I've used them for 5 years and only once was a suit a day late coming back - other than that have had faultless service and I always recommend them. Have just looked at one of the slips that came with my DH drycleaning and it has this number on it 2859273 and 2850653 I only ever call my delivery guy direct on his mobile number so have never had any reason to call the office number but those are the numbers listed as the office numbers on their paperwork. I know what you mean as you get to know the delivery guys. Hope all works out OK for you.

Yeah - there are 2 green communities. The original one - The Green Community - is the one where the Greenfields Community school is - this is the one that can take a while to get off - I can still get a bit stuck there but it does move. the other one is relatively new and it's The Green Community, Motor City - which is right next to Arabian Ranches and sandwiched between AR and Victory Heights. That is lovely too. The Greens are close by the Emirates golf Club near the Sheik Zayed Road and are apartments. I would get a school trip over booked asap - there are some great schools here - you really need to see which ones suit your kids best. Loads and loads of dogs being walked on Arabian Ranches. Happy to answer any questions you have as I have similar aged kids and they love it here.

We ended up bringing one from Oz and are now glad we did - saw the same model (although without the wok burner - so not as many bells and whistles) at the garden centre on SZR for approx twice the price! It was a Beefeater. Something to think about: one drawback is that if you want to use the small gas cylinders that fit underneath, you actually have to drop the empties off at a place in Karama and then pick them up, re-filled, from somewhere else (Al Quoz if memory serves). I'm not sure if that same thing applies to gas bbq's bought here or just ones from overseas... You can always go the big cylinder option if you have the room for it - we didn't... You don't have to do all of that hassle. We brought our BBQ over with us and our gas bottle guy sorts out our refills no problem you just need to find a good gas man most jest can't be bothered. Thru had to fit a new regulator but its so easy to just call and get it changed.

Dont know why they bother publishing this as so many places are standing empty and not being rented. Sorry Landlords....it's a renters market! I think that a lot of these empty apartments are owned by people that don't really need the money. A whole other discussion but they are not desperate to rent out the place. Many are also empty from defaulters too

We are on AR and my husband works In Internet city it's an easy 20/25 min drive. Is the same /similar time from victory heights and again similar from the green community but it can be a nightmare getting off the green community in the morning rush so you would need to factor in at least another 10 minutes just to cover getting off the development. You have not mentioned The Green Community in Motor City which would be a good option for you for green fields comm school and Internet city it's beautiful there. Your kids will make lots of friends very easily in either of these communities they are all very family orientated. I have friends who are super happy with gems world academy so don't choose your school based on the comments here! My kids go to Repton and if you believed all you read on here you'd run a mile but we are very happy there and both kids lve it and have super friends there. You must visit the schools yourself -only you really know what suits your children. Good luck.
