The doctor who encourages natural birth is Dr. Rosalie Sant. She is an independent doctor based in Healthcare City and does deliveries in three different hospitals, the 2 you mentioned your insurance doesn't cover fully and another one, which I can't remember but it might have been Welcare. She is a bit strict when it comes to diet and so one, but this is all to your benefit and I was glad afterwards. It might be worth checking with your insurance.

I've heard that they are reserved for the Locals who have to vacate their houses in Jumeirah due to the Creek extension. Not sure though if that's true.

I love the carrot cake from LimeTree café and was wondering if there is a chance of getting the recipe for it? Have they published them or does someone by any chance have it?

why not just check on etsy and purchase printable files... you can then get them printed at a local print shop like desco! :) edited by HorizonMum2 on 16/02/2014 but can you do this also onto icing or rice paper?

Why not go to IKEA? This way you don't have to spend a fortune but still get something decent. Why buy cheapish stuff? A maid can use some comfort as well. Buy what you'd get for yourself. Because the last one managed to ruin absolutely everything within 3 years including the ceramic toilet cistern and it was all decent stuff. So this time I'm not going to make the same mistake as I don't have money to just through out the window. I started of with stuff from dubizzle myself, so don't see anything wrong with cheapish stuff for the maid.

I would also terminate her contract. This is most of the time also the norm with normal company employment. If you decide to keep her, then maternity definitely is up to her. Most medical insurances in this country no longer cover this area so why should you...unless your conscience tells you otherwise.

I completely feel for you. We endured the same with ours and I know for sure I will not be as friendly with the next one as I was with this one as they just take you for a ride. Ours had the same attitude with me and as soon as my DH came she changed and was the sweetest little thing... She worked for us for 3 years and the first year was great. We couldn't fault her at anything, praised her, gave her little bonuses on special occasions and then it went downhill. The 2nd year her attitude became like yours and the 3rd year she thought she can work like 4 hours a day and help herself to some extra cash from our wallets...which we only have found out now. She is now back in the Philippines and I keep wondering...was it really worth it! So be happy that she decided to leave and good luck on your search.

Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Zoeller? I am considering to have acupuncture done, but don't fancy driving all the way to Healthcare City. She sounds competent but I've never had acupuncture done by someone else but Chinese. Any feedback would be very welcome.

Tavola does the gel cake colourings which are far better than the liquid ones from the supermarket. Even though they are a bit more expensive they will last you a long time as you only need a tiny amount to colour stuff.

We recently used National Pest Control and found them to be very good. They came in the morning and we were told to stay out of the house for about 5 hours. When we returned in the evening all was fine. We have a 3 year old as well as animals and none got affected by the treatment at all even though they did use some spray. We just made sure that everything got cleaned properly the next day.

There are horror stories with every hospital if you start to look for them but the same works the other way around with the success stories. The best thing is to find a doctor who you are comfortable with and then the hospital doesn't really matter too much.

It is illegal, so that is the end of that. Why would it be illegal when they are legally married? Our maid's husband is here, we asked her for the marriage certificate at the beginning and now he comes at the weekends and stays overnight then. We actually really appreciate him as he then does all the odd jobs in the house. However, our maid is on the older side and falling pregnant is definitely not an issue anymore. What you're doing is double illegal. He is not allowed to stay in your house as you don't sponsor him plus he is working for you illegally. I would not allow it it can get you into serious trouble. I don't see why it would be doubly illegal when it's helping not working. It would be illegal, when one pays money for the work received. I find it quite amazing how little freedom one allows the maid and on the other hand expects everything in return. One always sees very clearly the right and wrong with maids but eyes are always closed to the laws relating to madam and sir.

Because only your family and those you sponsor can stay in your house. yep legally here only people that you sponsor or your own close family members can be living in your house otherwise its illegal. I would only class it as visiting if the husband stays at weekends only and if this is classed as illegal in that case friends and family on visit visa would not be allowed either, or is that incorrect.

the only one I know of that can be used without the usual membership is on the Dubai Bypass Road. It's an Olympic size one that does not allow children below 18 I think it is. Prices are something like Dhs 15 per visit And you need a letter from your doctor to allow you to use it. Really? I've only ever been there right at the beginning and that wasn't a requirement then...what's it supposed to say on the letter? Cleopatra is a brilliant swimmer and can be let loose?

Avoid wooden beds as they tend to squeek and make noise with movement and wake up the kids. Learned that lesson the hard way. Surely not all wooden bed's are the same. May I ask you where you got yours from?

There's a children's furniture store in Ibn Battuta that should have exactly what you're looking for. It's across from The Little Gym and just down from Babyshop between Homecentre and Paris Gallery. Personally, I don't understand the wisdom of a bed with a slide--isn't the bedroom supposed to be for sleeping not playing? My 3 year old would be up half the night playing if he had a slide in his room! Thanks a lot and I'm completely with you. However my 3 1/2 year old is very good when it comes to sleeping times and the slide is there for playing during the day or as a quick access route when he needs the loo at night ;)

I'm looking for some nice children's furniture that is good quality as well as good looking. The bed should be the size of a standard single and be a bit different like with a slide etc... I had a look at Homecenter and Pan furnishings, but they just look cheap and I don't think they would withstand my little terror. Any advise appreciated

I boil up 4 tins at once so I have spares in the cupboard. Boil for 3 hours topping up the water. Make a graham cracker crust by blitzing digestive biscuits with melted butter and pressing into a pie tin. Bake for 5 mins then cool in the fridge, allowing to harden. Or you can buy pre-made crusts in baking aisles. Pour the caramel in (usually you need 2 tins as they are smallish), cover with sliced banana then whipped cream, then grated chocolate. Refrigerate before serving. When you boil the tins in advance, how long can you keep them?

We bought several cars as well as sold several cars through Philippines/Manila Showroom (I know they change from one to the other, but can't remember which one they are using now) in Ras Al Khor. It's probably the biggest showroom there in one of the corners. Of course you will probably see less on what you would get on Dubizzle, but if it has to be quick it might be an option.
