I work in a school and I know this a big problem! Some of the mums in the same situation have driver or a maid who picks up the children and they either get a taxi or use Careem kids. Hope you get sorted.

We don"t have a maid at the moment but I think I may have to employ someone. The bus will drop her off outside the villa so just need someone to pop out and collect her. Thanks for your help ladies.

it says in the regulations that someones must be there but just wondered if that is actually what happens! I spoke to someone I know who is a nanny on the bus and she says they are not concerned when they get to Year 6 and Secondary but that might just be that school! :-)

Rachel Abbott books are real page turners! Also loved reading Diane Chamberlain-The midwife's confession. Also if you like naughty- The list by Joanna Bolouri. ;-)

They are both really good schools but I would go for DBS. I have friends in both who are very positive about both schools but DBS has a secondary school attached. It is very difficult to find places for that age group. That might seem a long way off but time goes quickly! :-)

In a word No! Last time I took my DD there it was awful. I had to get a pair of scissors and level it up when we got home. That was a long time ago though!

Both my husband and I are also upset she has gone. She was a brilliant head and made some really positive changes. It is such a shame. She will be really missed.

Hi! Was looking on Dubizzle last night for something else and saw there was an ELC dolls house advertised. My girls have the same one for their Barbies. It was in the children's furniture section! Found the link http://tnydu.biz/DXiVJU edited by copster1974 on 06/09/2012

Our UK house is insured by AA. We already had our house insured with them ( contents and buildings) so we just told them that we were going to live in Dubai and we had to fill in a couple of extra forms. So it might be worth asking your current insurers. Also we found out if you have a mortgage on the property you also have to get the mortgage company to give their permission too. edited by copster1974 on 24/07/2012 edited by copster1974 on 24/07/2012

No we didn't go to Hikkaduwa apart from driving past it! The beaches look lovely though. I didn't realise before we went how much that area had been affected by the 2004 tsunami. Yes we went to Pinnewala, elephant orphanage on the way to Kandy. From Beruwala you have to go all the way back to Columbo and then the road to Kandy. The roads are quieter to Galle but a couple who we met on holiday said they wished they hadn't stayed in Galle as they felt a bit stranded as everything they wanted to see was at the other end of the island. Anyway where ever you decide I'm sure you'll have a great time!

We just came back from there! We stayed in Bentota. We did quite a bit of travelling around whilst we were there but I didn't realise how long it would take to get anywhere. It takes about 3 1/2 hours to get to Beruwela from the airport. It is not far but there is so much traffic! We had to get up at 4.30 in the morning to go the elephant orphanage-well worth it though. We also hired a driver to take us to Galle-stopping off at Kosgoda turtle hatchery, boat trip around the mangroves and a moonstone mine. The road to Galle is very quiet in comparison to the Columbo road so it doesn't take long to get to Galle-Even though it is further away! We both said afterwards that we wished that had stayed in a multi centre or twin centre holiday as we would have been able to see more of the country but I think that Beruwela is a good compromise. edited by copster1974 on 31/08/2011

Hi I used to do mall walking before I started working full time. It's really good and I met loads of really lovely people. You have to decide how many laps you want to do -most people do three! Most people also take a small rucksack with water/ car keys and cash as they all go for coffee or water afterwards! Enjoy!!
