You could ask any builder if they could put up this sort of thing (possibly on a smaller scale). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2933115/The-man-turned-house-feline-fantasy-Builder-creates-utopia-14-cats-complete-ledges-tunnels-soothing-music.html <em>edited by Daza on 06/05/2015</em>

Really...[b'> i never thought being active could bring all these complications[/b'>.. anyway will go to my gynae if I don't get my period for long due to work out... maybe i will shift to just walking if that would mean healthier hormonal life for me...! Being inactive can bring about a whole lot more complications! How much/what sort of exercise are you dong? Do you feel like you are overdoing it?

Pregnancy is not an illness! Just like at other times, exercising when pregnant helps to keep you healthy in mind and body. I'm not talking about running a marathon (unless that's your thing) but it's good to keep active for you and your baby if that is want you want to do. My first three pregnancies I kept active, my fourth I couldn't due to a bad fall early on (and no, I wasn't playing tennis at the time). My body, and mind, coped far better during and after my active pregnancies than for my inactive one. As for not telling people you are pregnant until after the first trimester, well that is a totally a personal choice but I'd rather have company in my grief if I was to lose a baby. This article offers a good perspective: http://www.dailylife.com.au/life-and-love/parenting-and-families/is-it-time-to-end-the-threemonth-dont-tell-pregnancy-rule-20141020-3i90l.html Grittt1, I have my fingers crossed for you that you are pregnant :)

I hope when I'm in my 80's I'll be doing a yearly world tour! Third vote for The Farm. They also do dinner and it should be cool enough to look at the beautiful gardens even if you still eat inside. I haven't been myself but a couple of people have told me that the butterfly garden at Miracle Garden is amazing. It's indoor and air con'd although I'm not sure if it's open all year round.

If your son thinks you are tough Silk1970, he'd [i'>hate[/i'> me. I agree with Chewit, you need to keep things tightly controlled as long as you can and the older they get the harder it is to do. My eldest is 9, we have no screen time at all during the week (apart from if needed for homework) and they have to earn screen time for the weekend up to a maximum of one hour. I probably sound like a strict ogre but I've found that for two of my children the more screen time they get the more they want and their behaviour deteriorates. Also, at the moment they don't use it to socially apart from the odd email so they aren't actually going to excluded from anything by not being on it during the week. Once they are older and using it to communicate with their friends I'll have to reassess.

Of course an 8 year old is not an adult. A child doing chores, you see a maid in the making, I see a confident capable adult in the making.

My daughter is 8 almost 9 and we have a chore list and certain expectations that she has to comply with before she gets her pocket money, the chores mainly consist of making her bed, hanging out the washing, clearing the table and polishing the lounge, if she doesn't do it there is a deduction from her allowance. In regards to expectations, as I work I expect her to have had a shower by the time that I get home, her homework prepared for me to do with her, she has to be polite and considerate to the driver and nanny, go to bed on time and so on. This works for me but may not suit all, some of her friends are getting in excess of 1000aed A maid in the making - poor child..... .....or a capable adult confidently able to look after herself and her home. Parents who send their children out in to the world without even a basic understanding of looking after themselves and their home are doing them a huge dis-service.

Our eldest child is in Year 4 and we've never been asked to buy a tablet or pay for usage of one, it's all included. We don't pay for books either. Between our three children at school we pay over 150k a year in school fees, I'd be pretty unhappy if we had to pay for IT or books on top of that! I'm laughing because the word YET is still very possible as you know.........lol Haha! I thought that as I wrote it too. IT and books could definitely go the way of lunches and all ECAs ;)

I was thinking about this very thing this morning after the Nepal thread. I've never used the down thumb and try to ignore it but it does add an overall negative feel to the forum. At least on facebook groups people have to own any negativity they bring to the discussion but on here people can just anonymously down thumb. It gives an atmosphere of nasty playground whispers. With the all the criticism of general chit chat a while back, closely followed by the introduction of the down thumbs, I'm finding myself coming here less and less. It's not nice getting an anonymous kicking or seeing others get one and it puts me off posting. I'm all for different points of view, lively discussion and disagreements but not the form it takes with the down thumbs. They seem to be totally against the intended spirit of the forum.

Thank you Daza, I just feel a bit useless, as I am not working and can't be bothered driving them to things every day, although it's manageable :-( After the summer I will cut down on the ones they aren't that in to at least. Don't feel useless Silvstet! It can be exhausting spending all your time ferrying children around on these roads, especially when it's hot. And then there is the cost......yeesh!

I've never stopped exercising for periods, the endorphins released when you work out really help with cramps and grumpiness even if it can be a bit (or lot!) more of an effort to make yourself do it. It would be a lot of missed exercise time if you stopped during your period.

My children do two or three each but they have to be at a time and location that I can manage. If it's totally impractical I say no even if it's something they really want to do. I don't think its lazy in the slightest to restrict their activities, it's good for them to know that the world doesn't always revolve around what they want :)

I don't know if you are reading too much in to things or not. It may be that he is just asserting his independence to choose who is goes to or something may have upset him. My two year sometimes going through stages of being all about me and not wanting my husband to help him with anything and sometimes it's vice versa. It doesn't mean we've upset him, it's just him making his own decisions about things. Whatever the issue is, I certainly wouldn't be asking my toddler to kiss someone who has only been around for such a short time. I [i'>really[/i'> strongly believe that affection in this circumstance should be initiated by the child. When they are happy and comfortable they can choose to hug or kiss but they should never be told too. Just my two fils worth :)

Hi Cherpie, My daughter is 33 mos. She's day-time potty trained, even naps without diapers and wakes up dry. I'm too scared to lose my sleep due to night time potty training. If she is regularly dry in the morning, don't overthink things, get a waterproof mattress protector and just give it a go. If she is normally still wet in the morning maybe wait a bit longer.

I didn't mind GB and don't mind Aylissa. I'm finding the whole tone a bit more relaxed and enjoyable now, it sometimes seemed a bit forced between CB and GB. No matter how much you've moved on it can't be ideal having to work so closely with your ex five days a week. All the divorced couples I know would have cracked long ago in the same circumstances. All in all it's a thumbs up from me

If my 2 year old hits his older siblings I tell him 'gentle hands' then focus my attention on the child he has hit. I don't make a big fuss, just something along the lines of 'Are you ok? I'm sorry it hurts. Kiss, cuddle. Normally while I'm doing it my two year old will follow my example and come in with a cuddle and a sorry. At his young age if he's particularly tired and belligerent and doesn't come in with a sorry and cuddle I don't force it from him, it doesn't actually make him sorry it just proves that I can force him to do something he doesn't want to.

I have a dryer wickedangel! Got it from Sharaf DG recently, Samsung, 8kg, condenser dryer. I think it was around 2700. I'm pleased with it although as it's new I can't vouch for it's longevity. Prior to that I had an AEG dryer, it was great and lasted about 15 years.

OP, before you start panicking, of course there are dryers here. You don't need one and in the warmer months clothes dry quicker outside than in a dryer but plenty of people still have them. I dry clothes outside but bed linen and towels in our dryer.

I have read that they don't use DRYERS in the UAE? WHAT IN THE WORLD? How do you dry your clothes? People generally have clothes drying lines attached to the back of their cars. It's a good idea to bring pegs with you as there is often a shortage of them here and if you don't peg your pants securely they can end up on the windscreen of the Bentley behind you. Most embarrassing. Some of the less adventurous people use clothes racks or lines in their garden or balcony. ;)

Apparently you can't drive in the UAE with a UK licence if you are a resident. You need to get your local licence. We have a hire car that DH is taking to work and is sitting in the staff car park all day while I have a million and one errands to run! You can drive a hire car on a UK license, you just can't drive a privately owned car. Double check with the car rental company but unless things have changed you should be fine.

Could be fb, although fb was nowhere a few years ago. The bottom line is the same: if you do not belong, you are ignored. I don't know anyone on here off this forum (that I know of). If I see a question I can answer, I answer it regardless of who asked. There are a few lovely women on here who go out of their way to help new posters, some of the answers given on here with regards to schools/cost of living/leisure etc are far more comprehensive than I'd ever take the time to do. In saying all that it is dull as dirty dishwater on here now. I used to come for a chat and because it made me laugh, now I come because sometimes helping with the occasional question from an adult on here is preferable to answering the ten billionth question of the day from my toddler  I also find in order to not have your posts deleted you do need to watch what you write. I'm not saying I'm a scintillating conversationalist in real life but honestly, sometimes on here my posts nearly put myself to sleep

I'm sorry to hear this Cowboy. I find mother and baby mornings [i'>awful [/i'>and was terrified before my first one. It can be really hard to pluck up the courage to go so well done for doing so. I didn't enjoy my first one either but persevered and went to a few coffee mornings when I first got here to meet people. I completely avoided the competitive rabble and gravitated to the other women looking like deer in the headlights. It was so worth it, through the coffee mornings I met three woman who along with their families have become life long friends. Once we'd all met people none of us set foot in a coffee morning again :) Try to forget the total cow who commented on your baby (whom I bet is utterly gorgeous) she's not someone who you would want to be friends with anyway. I bet there are some women there who couldn't care less when your baby did what and what you are doing to ensure they are a child prodigy. You'll find them and it will be worth it :)

Hi Artemis! Turf (or carpet grass) is real grass, cut in to sections and rolled up which is unrolled on to prepared ground and laid like a carpet. I'm pretty sure you can do it all year round although like any planting it would probably take a bit longer to take in the hottest months. You have to keep off it for the first week (maybe two?) while it is bedding in and water it a lot. I've used it twice and it's been great. In the morning you have a big sandy plot, in the afternoon beautiful garden, voila! We've been using the same gardener for years, a few niggles from time to time but overall reliable, easy to deal with and has always done a good job. Mohammed: 050 464 8851

I've sold a couple of cars to notes on the windscreen people. Probably got a couple of thousand less than if I'd done it privately but it was worth it not to deal with Dubizzle. Got an envelope stuffed with cash on both occasions, felt like a total gangster but it was all legit.
