A little shop called Golden Point in MOE, ground floor in the same block of shops as inglot and carters. Had been looking for nice leggings for ages, I think I paid around 150aed but they are superb! Thick, feel nice on the skin and have washed well. Although Marks and Sparks do good leggings too.

Hi ladies, you may have read my previous post a few weeks ago about fracturing my femur (the biggest, strongest bone in the body) usually people break this bone in a high impact accident like car crash or skiing etc. However I fell in the kitchen slipping and twisting over a toy but couldn't break my fall as I was holding a microwave oven ( was trying to move it to another place in the kitchen). Anyway so since then I have had a few tests and scans done with one of them being the Dexa scan and have been diagnosed with Osteopenia, I'm only in my early 40s. Do any of you ladies have Osteopenia? I'm scared to death of another fracture, as I've already fractured something so they say that takes me up to high risk. I'm four weeks in now after the op, and using crutches as the bone heals. Any advice will be helpful, if you have it, what symptons do you have? What precautions do you take and what have you incorporated into your diet after your diagnosis? And at what age did you find out you have it? Thank you. edited by desertrose on 18/11/2014 edited by desertrose on 18/11/2014

Hi ladies, I'm selling a pair of F1 tickets with all concert passes. Please look at classifieds for info, as im sure im not allowed to put the info here. The only I'm selling them and dropped the price considerably is because I fractured my leg and can no longer go.

The waiting for appointments and then results is just awful, I feel for you. Please don't worry, I know it's easier said then done but I'm going through something similar ( I'm also having tests, scans done for something) Sending you positive vibes and hugs. Hope all goes well.

Hi ladies, I fractured my femur bone last Friday and had surgery the following day. I now have a metal rod and several screws inside my leg to mend the broken bone. The complete recovery can take up to a year, but have been told that by week 12 I should be able to walk around again unaided, that will be end of January. I've been home for just 3 days from hospital and apart from the pain and having to take pain meds along side other pills, I'm getting restless and frustrated. I have a walker (Zimmer frame) to use for the bathroom etc, other then that I'm just stuck on the sofa where I must also sleep for the next few/several weeks as I can't walk up the stairs. It will be a long healing/ recovery process and I'm grateful that with time and good physio I will learn how to walk again. The reason I'm writing all this here, is because I wanted to know if any of you ladies have had any experience of broken leg bones whereby you were not mobile until it healed. I guess what I'm looking for are words of comfort, how you managed to get through everyday and what your progress was. At the moment I can only take one day as it comes, but not being able to go to the bathroom unaided is slowing drowning me in tears everytime. I have 2 small kids who are totally confused why mummy can't move or take them out, my kind friends have had to either come over to help or take the kids out. As a family we were so active and now in just one swoop our lives have changed. Please if any of you have gone through anything similar share it with me here, how did you cope? How did you manage to stay positive? I just need reassurance that life will somewhat go back to normal once my leg and bone have healed, because at the moment I can't really imagine being 'normal' again. Thank you edited by desertrose on 26/10/2014 edited by desertrose on 26/10/2014

I feel exactly the same way towards Home Grown as Giggles does. It's a wonderful, nurturing and happy place for the kids to be. Very professional but very personable. Everyone is always approachable and the communication between staff and parents is excellent. My son went there until last year and my little one is starting HG this Sept. I can't wait for him to go there and enjoy it as much as his brother did and I can't wait to become a HG mum again.

If they look like fruit flies and are mostly in your kitchen or bathrooms (any place where there is a drain) then they are mostly likely to be drain flies. the 8 years we've lived here we've never had a problem but in the last few months I've had to kill so many (could there be a problem with drainage because of all the rain we've had in the last several weeks?) Didn't know anyone with this problem until recently so there could be a mutual cause behind it. They seem to love one of our bathrooms that isn't used too often (guest room) the drain flies live, breed and feed of the scum in the drains, they can multiply quite quickly so you've got to be persistent in getting rid of them. The ones that were flying around I killed with pifpaf and then poured draino down the drains (the whole bottle) use draino every day in all the drains that are affected for at least 4 days this will kill the eggs and then you must keep pouring draino in the drains at least twice a week for a few weeks for maximum effect. I did the above about 2 months ago and didn't see any until yesterday, so have started the above process again. A pain in the behind but there's nothing else you can do.

My mother in law came to visit us back in 2011, and needed dialysis 3 times a week, we paid 900aed per session at American hospital. I called every hospital in Dubai and only the private hospitals take international dialysis patients, so unless its been changed since then, you can't get treatment at governments hospitals if you are a visitor from abroad needing dialysis treatment. You need to do lots before you can book the sessions, the patient has to have blood tests done 2 weeks before they begin their treatment here, also they will feed to fax or email over all their medical history regarding their dialysis treatment. You can save some money, if the patient brings any vaccinations they might need during their treatment, my mother did this, and saved about 2000aed. Her doctor has to give her permission to take the vaccinations abroad and the hospital here has to pre-approve, which was all done by phone for us. It's expensive but for us it was a worth it, my mother in law had the best vacation of her life. Also she was treated very very well at American hospital, I would definitely recommend them. Good luck

Hi, first of all congratulations! I was in the same boat last year, pregnant during ramadan and first full summer spent here. I always carried a bottle of water with me and had a sip whenever I needed, no one ever said anything and I never received any bad looks. They're quite understanding toward pregnant, the elderly and young during ramadan. Pregnant and drinking water in public is fine, no one will say anything as long as you don't walk around with a big juicy burger in hand! There will be a limited amount of restaurants and cafes in the malls that will stay open during the day with closed curtains where you can sit and eat, some will only serve take away though. To be honest it was so HOT outside and my feet with this pregnancy were swollen so did'nt really go out too much, if I did it was in the evenings when everything was open after Iftar. You will be fine, just enjoy your pregnancy and stay hydrated, it really does get very very hot in the summer. :)

Jumeirah pest control are really good, ( I guess they might only work around the Jumeirah area though) We used them when we moved into our villa last year, very professional and friendly. We have a huge drain just near our front door, and it took them an hour to open it, it was jammed shut! My DH even said at one point to leave it and not bother opening it, but the guy in charge insisted and got his team to open it. I thought that was very thorough of them and job well done. Its a good job they did because about a million cockroaches came running out!

We purchased our tickets online with another company and where sent electronic tickets. Written in the email they sent, its says that there are NO reserved seats. Depending on which tickets you bought, its first come first served for each price section. So that solves that problem out, as for not having your tickets, just take your receipt and explain what happened and hopefully they will understand. If they don't understand just start crying...I'm not kidding you, it really seems to work here! It makes me mad when things like this happen because you can never get to speak to the right person or department until its too late! Good luck

Hi ladies, I posted a few days ago about my maid, in 'would you keep her' We had a discussion with her to try and figure out if things would/could improve and her attitude is she can never do the things we ask of her because its in her 'attitude to not change, she is what she is' Her words. Anyway, we are cancelling her visa and now i'm left with no maid. I have a toddler and a 9 month old. I feel like crying because I just dont know what to do now and how to find a good maid. I intereviewed so many and she was the best of the bunch. So how do I even know for next time, its all the luck of the draw it seems. Do anyone one of you know a decent maid avaiable for a job? I'm so down even thinking about going through this whole process again, if my children weren't so young it wouldn't matter so much, but with small children, its so difficult to find a maid who is pleasent, trustworthy and reliable enough to work with kids. Please if you know anyone decent do let me know. Thank you thank you thank you! edited by desertrose on 08/06/2013

Hope everyone else is doing well too....time is getting closer for most of us, I'm not due until end August (30th), hoping it will come a little earlier lol. Bit fed up now, especially with heat and feeling heavy and uncomfortable. Suffering a bit with carpal tunnel in my right hand/arm and have had a few painful sleepless nights because of it, anyone else suffering with it?

We were in the same boat as you with our Range Rover, loved it so much but in the last few months cost us too much in repairs for different issues that had never arisen before! Having test-driven most of the 4x4 in the last few weeks we have settled on a 7 seater Ford Explorer (2nd baby on the way, so need space for 2 car seats and always have guests over) The Ford looks good, drives superb, very comfortable and the space inside is excellent. Feels really solid too. We get ours delivered early Sept InshaAllah and I can't wait! Go and test drive the Ford Explorer and you will feel how solid it is but its a very easy and comfortable drive.

Congrats to all those that posted after me! Yep all very quiet here, its defo the heat, I'm feeling really heavy, hot and tired these days, and the sleepless nights have kicked in, no matter what I do, just can't seem to get comfy. hugsys, gosh you've had a bad time of it, I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly for you! samie10, hope the pillow helps, I have never used one, some women swear by it, and some women just don't see/feel the benefit....it would'nt work for me as i don't like the feeling of a pillow against my belly. Getting a bit anxious about the birth now, my first one took over 30 hours to grace us with his presence!!! The longest 30 hours of my life!

I totally understand what you're going through. For the last 6 months my DS who is just over 2 years old, has had colds, fever and dreadful coughs. Just a few days ago I finally had all the tests done in case its an allergy to something, waiting for the results now. Its scary when they are sick so often, mine is better for a week then back to being sick, its a cycle that never seems to end. Sometimes he coughs so much and so violently that he vomits, which is another issue because out comes all his food and water, almost every day! Just an hour ago he did this, and now I can still hear him cough, which means another sleepless night for my poor little baby. I just don't know what to do when he coughs throughout the night :(

Hi Ladies, We are looking for a villa anywhere in Jumeirah, 3 bed plus maid's room. I'm due at the end of August just when our lease ends in our current apartment and that will not be an ideal time to move. So our landlord has agreed after very long and somewhat tiring conversations over the course of 2 weeks to let us leave by mid July and give us the months rental back. Now we are desperately looking for a villa, before he can change his mind again!! Please help if you know of any compound villas anywhere in Jumeirah, umm seq, safa, al wasl side, I'm also searching every possible website!! Edited to add that we don't want to pay more then 150. I had my first DS at Latifa hospital two and half years ago, and my experience was a positive one, we didn't have insurance back then to cover maternity and thats why we went with them, however this time around (2nd baby and 30 weeks pregnant) we have 25k to use for maternity and I still chose to go to Latifa, even though I can now go to any private hospital. The staff at Latifa are friendly, and I have been lucky enough to see the same doctor in the last 5 visits. Everyone from the doctors, to the midwives and other nurses seem so competent. I have been to private hospitals for various other illnesses and always seem to find them less friendly and less conpetent, its all about the money. If anything serious should happen or any major complications arise with you or your baby, the private hospitals will end up sending you to Latifa anyway, because they are more experienced and better equiped to handle complicated and serious cases. With my first baby I was lucky to have a shared room with only 1 other lady for the duration of my 3 day stay. And a bonus, once your baby is born you can just pop along to admin downstairs and get the birth cert done there and then, and they give you a babybook for all his vacinations and the first appointment for the baby is already made for you before you leave the hospital, all you have to do is pay for their healthcard. I was so happy to recieve up to 25k to spend from DH's new insurance for the pregnancy that at first my hubby thought it would sway my decision but it hasn't I still chose Latifa over a private hospital.

There's something called the Belly Bandit, which is supposed to be excellent. When I was searching for it 2 years ago they had limited stock of them at favourite things in marina mall, I didnt buy it because it had been 4 months since giving birth that I thought of belly binding and it was too late by then as you've got to use it within a week or so after giving birth to get maximum results. I hope they still have them as I would need one soon too!

We have been here for 6 years and never lived in a villa, but now that we have a toddler and a baby on the way, we are looking at moving into a villa this summer. Like apartment living because: Cheaper DEWA Security is very good No dust No garden to maintain No insects. Hate apartment living because: Nightmare to bring shopping up in lift Doesn't quite feel like home (having lived in a house with a garden all our lives) Scared of the balcony (kids safety etc, no matter how vigilant I am, have hidden all the balcony door keys, I still worry like a crazy woman) Also I'm now petrified (after all the fires recently in buildings) if there was a fire in the building, it would be an absolute nightmare to escape and if you can't get away the fire engine rescue ladder only reaches upto floor sixteen of any building! Would love to live in a villa because: Garden to relax in after a long day Kids can ran around and make a mess Easy to bring in Shopping Better chance of escape from a fire if God forbid it happened. BBQ, friends over, easy to entertain in garden ( we love going to our friends garden parties) And will hopefully feel more like a home. edited by desertrose on 05/06/2012

I have been interviewing maids for the last two weeks now, and out of several liked two. Was deciding between the two today and one of them calls me to say that her employer needs her for another 5 weeks and the other tells me that she has to go back to Sri Lankan in August for a month!!! When both of them at the interview were ready to start mid June. Arrrrgggggg, I have a toddler and a baby on the way in August and on top of all that our lease ends end of August so we'll also be moving. Really need a caring reliable maid and it just seems like a never ending difficult process. I honestly felt like crying when they told me (hormones and all) but seriously and then during the intial interview process some of them don't evern bother to turn up to the interview after we decide a date and time and I call them to confirm, they don't even bother to call or text to say they won't be coming, when I have cleared my schedule to accomodate them! Thinking I might just have to go down the agency route now but did'nt want to! I'm absolutely seething....Rant over, thanks for listening ladies

Thanks for the replies. Booked a massage at SensAsia at the Palm for Tuesday and can't wait! Anyway just to let you know they have an offer on for May. You can get the Mummy massage for 199aed insrtead of 375aed if you book and pay on the phone before the massage, terms apply so you can't cancel your appointment, however you can change the date within May for another 100aed. Still works out better then paying 375!

Whatever you do, don't cancel your visa, its a longer process to renew with the new company. You can put the family members visas on hold for a 5000aed refundable deposit and transfer to new company once your DH has his visa with new employment, that's what we done just before DH had to cancel his visa with old company as required. Hope that makes sense.

I just found the best tailor in Dubai, The shop is called Panache ladies tailors, located in Barsha, the shop is just behind Centro-Rotana hotel, the number is 043990696. Have had 5 suits made in the last few weeks and they're amazing, perfect fit and exactley how I wanted them made, this one tailor in particular knows all the latest styles/trends that are current in pakistan at the moment.! Don't go to any tailors in Satwa, they might be some pakistani tailors there, but I have seen friends outfits made by these tailors and the style is not pakistani but more indian, which is completey different to the up to date pakistani trends.

You will also need to take your recent DEWA bill with you, they work out from your DEWA number which clinic you can register at according to the catchment area, rather then which clinic is [i'>actually[/i'> nearer to where you live!! Umm Sequim is closer to our home, but we our registered at Safa clinic (very annoying).

Hi First thing is first.... 1. Go to the relevant MOL and immediately seek their advise on exactly what has happened and what to do next. If possible try and manage the process at the MOL rather the DIFC Courts (less supportive to employees). The MOL is near Terminal 2 in Dubai. Speak to a guy called Tariq who is somewhat well versed in these situations. They are helpful and open to discussion. 2. Immeditely seek Legal advise. note if you can get free advise take it ...nothing to loose, otherwise they can charge AED 1000 per hour. 3. [b'>Do not [/b'>sign anything by the employer. 4. Say you will need time to review your options and the termination conditions. 5. Take their termination proposals, your contract and your labour contract back to MOL and Lawyers for their opinion. My DH has recently been made redundant unfairly. Fact = there is no longer a job or a process of reconciliation, therefore start planning your exit stratergy to maximise the benefits you can get i.e. shares, gratuity, holiday entitlement etc. Legally they will/should pay what is legally due when calculating the end of service pay out. Over and beyond the legal statutory payout, you can file for an unfair arbitary dismissal. the maximum pay out if you win is 3 months. The courts will favour the employee rather then the employer. Its not a nice situation to be in, we now have no job, a 2 year old and a baby on the way...Stay strong. Good luck with everything, you are in my thoughts, and I'm really sorry for your loss. edited by desertrose on 08/03/2012 edited by desertrose on 08/03/2012 edited by desertrose on 08/03/2012

Yes there is fog, but there is also something on fire in the marina or jbr, fire smoke looks and smells different to fog.
