Renewed my driving licence at Al Manara Municipality in July 2012. Paid Dhs100 for eye test (took less than 5 mins) which is a ripe off, I think. Result of eye test is then sent to RTA online by optical shop. Apparently, not all optical shops are allowed to provide this service, so do check first. UAE ID is required for licence renewal.
I must comment that the whole renewal process at Al Manara Municipality was quick!!

He will enrol in a language class. In the meantime, we will continue looking for part-time jobs that pay some allowances.
