Not quite Marina......but near enough in JLT: DMCC/Concordia have placed recycling bins at the exit of each cluster. I'm sure there's one for paper, maybe someone else in JLT can confirm. Sorry I don't know about Marina.

Its super! I love it! :D I did let people know on here, sometime back but somehow (raised eyebrow) the thread disappeared after a few hits. Note, I don't work for low-cost dubai......LOL! I just know a bargain when I see one. :) Its one voucher each (buy one get one free voucher) hence the name 'mini-book', yes excellent for visitors or residents who don't want to buy the big book ;) Its a nice small book you can keep in your bag. The only thing missing from it (for me!) ....... is my lovely 'PAUL'. :( <em>edited by Diamante on 14/05/2011</em>

You could even try this book: http://www.lowcostdubai.com/Mini-Book.htm This one is a no-brainer, most of the favourites and JUST FOR AED 99. Note: Saffron in there too. 2 lots of of my visitors bought one each for their 1 week stay. I have one too. Plus the books they left behind since they only used saffron, aquaventure and 1 or 2 others ;)

The black points are against his license, not the car, so I wouldn't have thought it would be an issue, so long as he has paid the fines. Agree!! with chocs01, it won't be an issue when transferring. I had no problems selling my vehicle and I have points on my licence :(

Try Fish and Chip Basket in Dubai Marina.... Just up from the Yacht Club. I'm addicted...And the mushy peas are to die for. Its not been open long but its definately fish and chips homestyle.. Captainjacky........I loved it! I have to agree with lal1 though, I found the cod batter a tad bit greasy but the cod was melt in the mouth and although there was a lil skin on some of the chips, the chips were also melt in the mouth. Mmmmm!! Yummy! The best I've had so far :) I WOULD go again, unless I find somewhere better. The great thing for me was, its minutes from where I am in JLT. I walked over the JLT metro bridge and was there in minutes and walked some it off, on the way back :)

I used to get a monthly email with this pdf showing which offers were available for that month (the offers changed each month) but then the email stopped coming. So I called the other day and was told the offers were stopped a while ago apart from the 4 I listed (and the coffee places lal1 pointed out). Do you know if all those places in the pdf you posted are still taking part? No I don't, sorry, but I know the Nail spa & cinema is still valid.

I want to personalise a trinket box but have a name engraved in Arabic. Anyone know where I can get this done? Also, if anyone knows of any childrens toys with arabic letters etc, wooden puzzles etc, please can you let me know where I can get these from preferably in a shop in Dubai rather than online.

For anyone wondering, the only places still taking part are Tony Romas, Al Jaber Opticals, N Bar (or maybe Nail Spa, can't remember what they said) and the cinema. Yes, dairylea..... 'Nailspa'. For more info, here is the pdf: http://www.ibnbattutamall.com/Uploads/Ibn%20Battuta%20Mall%20Tuesdays.pdf ;) <em>edited by Diamante on 10/05/2011</em>

We've had to this several time. I usually call the Ticket Office as below and they do it all over the phone or go to the Emirates office in the Dnata building on SZR and they'll even re-issue your ticket there and then. It costs £75 per ticket to change the flight date. Only if you booked your flight from the UK, flights booked from UAE with EK can be changed free of charge at EK @ DNATA, or so i was told and have changed many tickets. ........but then you pay more for tickets from Dubai, so I guess thats why its FOC. :)

Ladies, I am writing to bring to your notice that the Entertainer Auntie Anne's voucher is only being accepted for pretzels. I went to their branch in Deira City center yesterday and was surprised to be told I wouldn’t get a free sausage roll (despite the voucher clearly saying Main Menu Item). This is was very disappointing and misleading and , if this is the case, then the voucher should only say ' one complimentary pretzel when a pretzel is purchased'! I know some may feel this is a petty issue but we buy the book - its not for free! Just thought I would let all the sossie-roll lovers out there know.. Not petty at all!! These guys need to be told, they think they can advertise their brand and then turn round and offer a measley pretzel ( I do like Pretzels btw :D). I just get really annoyed when they change the T's & C's as & when they wish. Is the sausage roll not under 'Main Menu item' in the Menu. Or haven't they got it listed as that? Agree with Dubaicat, let the Entertainer know. <em>edited by Diamante on 09/05/2011</em>

Ladies, is there any particular reason you are posting everything about your flats but not the price? I would be interested in prices, as I am already living in JLT and I think I am paying too much (75 k for 1 fully furnished bedroom flat) Do you think I will get a 2 bedroom for that price? Thanks Yes, the reason being ............that the thread said 'JLT any towers recommended or to be avoided' and the original poster in her post didn't ask for a price and just wanted opinions/recommendations... so thats why ;) But since you ask for price.....here goes... (ref made to you apartment), its fully furnished so its probably a good deal, I don't know, as I've furnished my own apartment. Generally for a good quality 2 bed I would say 70'000 + (thats unfurnished). If anyone knows any different....... <em>edited by Diamante on 09/05/2011</em>

We are in Lake View tower by Damac, we love it. The building is always clean, great pool and BBQ area on 1st floor, men and ladies gym. We are in a 2 bed apartment and it is huge, about 1500sqft. Blacony is big enough to entertain about 40 people at one time. Worth a look :) We're in the twin: Lake Terrace by Damac, same facilities as above and agree if more than 1 bedroom usually the balcony is huge; great for entertaining. Love it here! 3rd year! Oh and we get our own mailbox in the building too (FOC). ;) Oh and only thing is I would have much preferred a sectioning off from the kitchen,; its fully open but then its great when DH is in the living room and we can still talk to each other when I'm in the kitchen. :) <em>edited by Diamante on 09/05/2011</em>

The only thing that annoys me a little are the threads that start with: "Where can I buy.........." "How can I........" "Has anyone......." Like some kind of drumroll.....(SURPRISE! You wouldn't be able to answer the question anyway, but thanks for checking in to my post!).... Why can't they just finish the question in the subject line. I think it ONLY annoys me cuz I'm friggin stupid enough to check what it might be.......cuz I might JUST be able to help. Ha! Ha! :D <em>edited by Diamante on 08/05/2011</em>

forget the mall and park in souk al bahar instead. much shorter walk straight through the souk, which is small, to great view of the fountains. Agree!! I always use the souk one, for when I do visit Dubai Mall, that way I can remember where I parked my car. Its defo the best car park for a short walk to the fountains.

whenever i go for mani and pedi, regardless of the type of saloon, i am always suffering afterwards! the skin of my hands specially leaves around nails and pains for many days afterwards and as for toes well they have bled sometime or nails cut too short not to mention burns on ankles due to excessive scrubbing... SO dubai parlours a big no for mani and pedi!! Whoooaaaaahhh!!! :\: Where do YOU go?

There was a big hoo-ha in the UK recently about Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter. Yes, seriously. Apparently it's the best thing since sliced bread and makes your skin look years younger. I have yet to get my 32-year-old face over to Waitrose to buy some, so I still look 32, but if I do ever get there and start getting asked for ID I'll let you know. Yeah, I heard the same too, so googled it and found that it's been either 1) EVER so popular since 2008, 2) or the Daily Mail, are running out of things to put in their paper so revist their archives and drop the article in again a few years later. :D In 2008: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-560636/Supermarket-stampede-women-slap-2-49-baby-butter-faces.html In 2011: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1348125/Baby-Bottom-Butter-creme-la-creme-face-creams.html

I'd love to say, "I don't know why you're acting as if you're so much better than me, it's not as if YOU can afford to shop in here." (But I never would.) I've been lucky with the attitude, but I hate the shadow following me around the store. The next time it happens I WILL ask them if they have good reason to suspect I'm going to steal from them. If they say No then I'm going to ask that they stop following me as if I have THIEF tattooed on my forehead. If they say Yes however, then I'll really be stumped :) What if they did say yes??? LOL! :D :D :D

Yes, I've been. But just for waxing! They're ACE for waxing. They have a BIG clientele though, very busy, very popular. DO see all chairs taken up in the mani/pedi section. But unfortunately, I can not recommend how good they are for this as dont use this service of theirs.

Sorry everyone if this is a stupid question but it is something that really worries me. Are there any breakdown companies here (e.g RAC, AA etc) that we can be a member of incase our car breaks down ? I am terrified incase i breakdown on these busy busy roads because i wouldnt know wot to do. thanks anyone for any advice! I know some credit cards with certain banks offer roadside recovery service as part of the package. If you have a credit card, check the benefits and see if thats included.
