Oh I have been watching this thread hoping that someone would reply :) Definitely going to try the one without tea - sounds delicious. I have also been following this thread with great interest and will give it a bash. I don't drink any hot drinks (never beean weaned!) and am trying to wean myself off diet coke addiction but am bored with Robinsons squash and fruit juices... so if anyone else has any other non-alcoholic everyday drink suggestions I would be most grateful.... Was a huge relief today - was so worried they wouldn't be big enough but they're getting there now! Not sure whether you're trying anything else to support IVF, I'm doing acupuncture which is great to help counteract all the side effects and my therapist also gave me a meditation cd which is brilliant if you're feeling a bit low or stressed. I'm not the meditating type but it's really working for me :-) might be good to help you through the waiting bit. Another hurdle jumped... you're ticking them all off ;0) No, I'm not doing anything else- silly in hindsight. Stupidly also not getting much support- I told 2 friends here the details: one is great and would be there if I asked, the other is disappointingly self-absorbed and so FA use. Don't really want to bother people at home about it as there is so little they can do from a distance. That's why I have found peoples' input on this forum so helpful. Would defintely do it all differently if I had to do it again but please God I won't need to... ;)

Hi TubeStrike! x Dubai 71 - glad to hear the transfer went well, I bet it was amazing seeing them on screen. My scan went really well - 15 follicles and all around 10-14 so a few more days for me and an increase in meds. Think my egg retrieval will be on Thurs if all goes well. Sorry to hear your mum and brother aren't well, are they in Dubai? Wish you all the best with the next few weeks, good idea about taking it easy for an extra day, think I might do the same when it's my turn! x Sounds like they're devloping nicely nicecuppatea :) Good luck to you and TubeStrike for your retrievals. x

vjdubai- I am very sorry to hear of your loss. It is really difficult and my heart goes out to you. My Dad died at 49 when I was 17.. . I am now 39 and still miss him. Time definitely helps ease the pain but there will always be a hole there but it will hurt less as time passes. As for your friends, I do not understand and I am disappointed for you. I seem to find myself in a similar situation and so can sympathise. Try concentrating on your DH, LO and making new friends. Take care.

Hi girls! I'm in my first round of IVF too (at DGFC) and on day 14 of stimulation. I've been fine up until now but the last two days have been really uncomfortable, i feel like i've got a corset on after a big roast. I'm definitely ready to have the eggs taken out now!! Had my third scan this morning and a blood test so going in later today to find out when the retrieval will be - hopefully in the next two days :) The biggest was 20mm! Good luck with the next two weeks Dubai71 - the wait is going to be so hard, but so exciting.. fingers crossed for you and all of us xx Hello TubeStrike Nice to have someone else! Mine varied between 18 and 22mm when I had the retrieval so it sounds like you're there. I stopped the shots a day before the retrieval. Good luck. My stomach feels really tender, trying not to read too much into it. I also feel really tired but I don't know whether that's my brain trying to shut down as there is so much going on at the moment with this and my Mum and brother not being well. Am just going to laze on the sofa and cheer on Murray! x

That doesn't sound too bad, thanks - feel much less nervous now! Really hope your transfer went well today, did your doc tell you to stay in bed for a few days or can you carry on as normal? Did you see the embryos on screen? How are you feeling and when can you test?! Stimulation's ok thanks... although the doses are pretty high this time (I've done 3 x IUIs with injectables before this on lower doses). Been feeling ok just a bit tired and bloated, my husband does the injections, I'm too much of a wimp to do them myself :) Going for a scan tomorrow so am hoping my follicles have grown a bit more and we can do IVF this time Take it easy 71 x Morning Hope the scan goes well today... keep me posted. They transferred 3 yesterday- seeing them on screen was pretty emotional. I was told to take it easy yesterday but I am going to take it easy today also as want to be careful. Also my tummy is slightly tender, which I am, of course, hoping is a good sign. I have been told no *** or exercise for at least 12 days (implantation time). I was told no exercise in the whole stimulation phase so irrespective of whatever the outcome I am going to be fat! Good luck... x

You must be so happy that 4 eggs have fertilized Dubai71! Good luck tonight with the results and I hope your transfer goes really well. I'm at DGFC in healthcare city - pretty happy with them, how about you? What was the egg retrieval like? I'm ridiculously nervous about it, my doc said I'll be sedated and 'asleep' but I'm still worried that the actual procedure itself will hurt...! Wish you all the best for tonight and tomorrow x PS Does the 71 stand for 1971? In that case we're roughly the same age too :-) I thought the retrieval was ok. Didn't know anything about the procedure itself due to sedation. Afterwards for me it was a bit like having a sore period but the next day I felt grand. Am sure you'll be fine too. How's the stimulation going? Are you injecting yourself? Thanks for your wishes. x (yes, 1971!)

Hi Dubai71 I'm in the middle of my first IVF cycle too, finished 2 weeks of suppression and now doing stimulation so I think we're about the same stage. How's it going for you? :-) Wow! Hello nicecuppatea. So lovely to hear from you :) How's it going for you and which clinic are you going to? I have had a pretty roller coaster time but if it works will be worth every moment of it. I have my transfer on Saturday. Apparently 4 eggs (out of the 8 retrieved) have fertilised and they were undergoing genetic testing today- results tomorrow night. Really, really hope it all goes well for you. x

Your biggest problem is laminated flooring. Not nice under the best circumstances ... maybe she did you a favor? :D LOL Perhaps she did not even realise laminate is not proper wood - in many countries you tip an bucket of water on a wooden floor and scrub Indeed... some of those modern laminates look "almost" wood like rather than nasty plastic... "almost". Frankly I think the maid has done a very gracious act and spared the OP being stuck with ghastly (in terms of appearance and seemingly practicality) flooring, now is a good excuse to change it. Can maids get given awards for heroic actions rather than just "BBB"?? ;)

Thanks, I've been tapping her on the nose and saying 'NO' but she continue. It's not real biting as it's quite gentle but as I have 2 small children I want to atop it now before it becomes something else. As far as I understand it when you tap them on the nose they think you are also playing and so it doesn't discourage them...

We also adopted a street cat... they're fun. By nipping, I assume you mean biting? I have spoken with quite a few people (inc vets) about this and it seems it's a sort of young street cat thing that they do grow out of. In the meantime my advice is to scream loudly when she does it so she knows she has hurt you and also to pick her up by the scruff of the neck and put her in a dark room (a bit like a "naughty step") to have a wee think about things ;) Good luck.

you know what bugs me about the maids here? When you tell them something they did wrong, even if you tell them in a constructive way, they cry. And we are not mean people! It's happened twice to us! If anything we are too flippin nice aka the pushovers. I asked my friend who has a live-in maid (we have one who comes twice a week for a couple hours) and she said her maid cries all the time too when she brings something to her attention that she did wrong, even something small like mopping the floor wrong. 'I'm sorry madam' sobsobsob If I cried everytime a boss gave me a criticism I'd never have a job...is this a defence mechanism or are they just kind of pathetic?!? I think it is a cultural thing and find your comment insensitive. They are also probably a lot more vulnerable in terms of job security than most of us and also need the job more than most of us. Also, the way I see some people speaking to their maids here frankly I would be in tears. edited by dubai71 on 26/01/2011

I've got a good one for you...yesterday a labourer at work was riding his bike balancing a very large can of white paint on the back. Predictably, he dropped it and all the paint spilled out. Another co-worker told him to remain in place and wait for help getting it cleaned up. Instead, he retrieved the can, took it off somewhere and hid it then went back to his place of work having pretended to have delivered it to its intended department. Shortly thereafter, I come driving through in my brand new shiny black car, drive straight though the paint which splashes up all over the side of my car. I do not notice but someone else does and comes to tell me. By some miracle, they manage to get it to the workshop on time to wash it off before the paint dries which would have been a disaster! When security and HR track down the culprit, they want to a) charge him for the cost of cleaning/polishing or b) terminate his employment. I just couldn't do it to him and begged them to let him keep his job despite the fact that he had run away and concealed his mistake. Thank goodness it didn't happen to some of the less charitable ladies on this thread!

Presumably it was anticipated that Michael may go away to university or the likes when JJ was purchased in 2003? I think trying to palm him off somewhere else now is irresponsible. Dogs are not just for Christmas or, in this case, until your child leaves home... :\:

Have you ever made a stupid mistake at work? I have. Have you ever tried to gloss over, fix or hide a mistake? I have (especially when I was young and scared of the reaction of my boss). Have you thought about how much 3,000aed is to your helper? Potentially it is 2 months salary. How would you feel if you or your husband made a mistake, albeit stupid, and lost the equivalent of 2 months salary? I would be devastated and it would affect my ability to meet my commitments at home. [i'>Good points in other posts to consider: It could have been someone else and she found it You should have insurance She may genuinely not have realised the likely damage[/i'> Please let your anger at the situation subside before making a final decision. Hear, hear

No I don't have insurance and yes I have explained to her from the first day that she must not use a wet mop on the floors. Must dry the mop completely when mopping up. Told her lots of times to not wet the floor. Even if there are drops of water on the floor I have explained to her that she must not leave it to stand on the floors as it will damage them. I just did her visa in December so its not easy to just send her back. Are you for real?? You would seriously have contemplated terminating your maid's employment for a simple mistake? I am glad I don't work for you. As SueB said, sh!t happens. AED3,000 is an awful lot to a maid but I imagine a lot less significant to you. Don't forget you have also made a mistake here by not getting insurance (glib at best but when you employ a stranger in your home it might be considered downright foolish). So, 2 mistakes and in my view you should take it on the chin.

Wolfies is good but expensive, I think there are alot more options now and def Decathlon is worth a check out, they are good quality and prices. I got mine (road bike) at Rage ? in DFC and love it, but it was nearer 2000 AED, but that was before Decathlon arrived :-( Anyway it is a fab way to get fit, after a few days cycling out my house and round Mirdif I was addicted and love it, all that fresh air - enjoy ! Unless you're a "serious" cyclist Wolfie's prices are unnecessary. Great if you race and want a carbon frame etc but not for keep fit.

You poor thing. As I said I would listen to Dr Walid (I was randomly assaulted 11 years ago and as a result my front teeth are crowns), I *sadly* have had quite a bit of experience of dentists in London and here (have had all sorts of problems and crowns replaced 3 times) and REALLY trust him. Close to the sinuses sounds like a problem and therefore a last resort. Go see him again and talk it through when you have time and no distractions, he is very helpful and not a dentist-cash-monster, in my experience he has his patients' best interests at heart. Sleep well and good luck. edited by dubai71 on 25/01/2011

For all you ladies out there with IVF experience.... I had the egg collection yesterday, they got 8 (I am 39). Apparently 4 of these have fertilised. This seems low to me.... Can any of you advise please? We have been advised to do genetic testing as previous miscarriage due to genetic issues so am just praying that at least 3 of the 4 are genetically sound... The transfer is on Saturday. I would also be grateful if you would advise how little you did post-transfer and for how long. MTIA edited by dubai71 on 25/01/2011 Anyone....??
