Anybody living there? Are they any good? I have friends moving to Dubai soon looking for a 3 bed plus maids. They've been asking me about this development but I know nothing about it. To me it looks like another DG or am I mistaken?

I used to live in JVT when i delivered my DD in City Hospital. I loved the hospital and he whole experience, the midwives were amazing and the nurses were really nice and helpful.; For me, the distance was not a problem, [b'>I knew I would not deliver in the car, it would take more time[/b'>. :-) lol I dont think thats the reason people prefer a closer hospital. I think its just easier when the hospital is closer. I had appointments every 3 weeks and then every week. I would hate to be travelling really far for each appointment considering they last like 10 minutes. I'm glad to hear the maternity dept is better than the pediatrics though!

When LO was born I went through the over protective worry that the cat would harm LO and tried to make myself feel better with the excuse that our cat would be better off with a big family anyway as all my attention in early months was on LO. I am SO glad my parents made me see sense. It would have left me heartbroken if I had gone along with finding him a new home and everytime I look at him now I feel guilty that I even had such an idea. He will always be a big part of this family. I dont think any posters here are being un fair. They are giving their opinions and she can make a more inforrmed decision. Pets are for life and you should know that when you get one. Would you give away your LO because the cat isn't getting along with them? I guess not.

Saudi German was also near me so we considered it but it was awful. Unless it were an emergency and I couldn't travel far I would definitely not deliver there. Medcare is where I delivered. Dr Shiva is not very informative and most of her answers are yes or no or if you like BUT she is a fantastic surgeon and she is polite. I healed from my c-section scar so quickly and its such a neat low scar. When my anesthesia wore off mid c-section she took control of the situation instantly and noticed even before the anesthetist. The nurses were of a very low standard IMO but then I cant imagine anywhere in Dubai the nurses being upto the standard of the midwives back in UK. I had an appointment with the anesthetist a few days before my c-section who explained everything to me as there were a few choices when it comes to the epi so I felt well informed. City DS stayed in after he was born because he was really un well in the start of his life. I dont know about the maternity suite but I can comment on pediatrics. Very small rooms, nurse were slightly better than Medcare but not hugely and the place is very far from us. Now that we have insurance that covers all the Dubai hospitals I have a feeling I will end up in Medcare again. Its close-by, the c-section went very well and with the second I'll be clear in my birth plan that I want limited interference of the nurses. Usually with your second/third etc they just leave you to it.

It was a massive 10 bedroom place. They were lovely. We used to play football with the kids in the garden, and they always invited us to kareoke and BBQs. It was never a problem. Live and let live. Note: we never actually went to any of the BBQs, but it was still nice that they extended the invite. So 10 people a room? WTH.

I lived in the Waves B about 3 years ago, it was nice the pool and gym are good. I think the apartments in B are a little better than in A but overall they are nice. Not as bad as Diamond/Dec/Manchester. They are Damac so well maintained. Thanks lizajj. So I guess it would be ok. I'm just worried about the mattress quality in these apartment stay deals.

In my uni years I bought a bed from there once. Never again. It fell apart within a year. Weve had a good experience so far with our sofas. Had them some time now and all is well with them. The covers are also washable and replaceable if we wanted to change the colour scheme in our lounge. If we were splashing out we'd get the sofa's we saw in the one. Very comfy.

During my visit to Dubai at Christmas when we were visiting our DS I was pretty shocked to see teenage girls and older women wandering about outside and in the malls wearing really skimpy clothes and teeny tiny shorts etc. Didn't see this to anything like the same extent in Doha. There were a few incidents when a woman would be approached by someone and told to cover up, especially during Ramadan. [b'>Is currently too flaming cold back home to be wearing skimpy clothes![/b'> :) If only that would stop the drunk rowdy teenage girls in pvc waiting at the bus stops to get to the clubs.

my friend's baby was covered in really really bad excema. he was referred to a top paediatric dermatologist in London and he recommended a whole regime using the Aveeno range of products. Bath and creams. It took a while to clear him but within a couple of weeks the difference was amazing. Within 4 months he was completely clear of the excema. My little boy suffered from mild excema and I started using Aveeno as soon as my friend told me about it - his cleared up in weeks. If he has a flare up now I reach straight for the Aveeno and within a few days it's gone. Aveeno is basically oatmeal. If the babys skin condition is really bad your better off going to the source and using just oats to help soothe and calm the skin. Once its healed I'd recommend Aveeno. Now that DS is alot better we also use Aveeno for everyday use.

We live in DG and have he XXL 2 bed apartment. We pay 65k in 6 cheques and are very happy here. We overlook the pool, which is open and very well maintained. There are lovely green areas to walk around, the area is very quiet. I would highly recommend it here. I would agree a few of the Mediterranean Clusture buildings need tarting up, but that's down to the building owners. We're in Contemporary and the buildings and green areas are very well maintained. Ibn Battuta is less than five minutes by car and there is a shuttle bus service which runs from here to IB and the Metro station. I have a friend who is on that sort of budget but do the 2 beds have maids or are there any 3 beds available?

Although alot is down to how a person is bought up the society in which they grow plays a massive part. I totally disagree that it would be the same in UK as it is in UAE. Also after reading the thread about a poster who's kid wanted to walk around in the mall I was surprised so many people replied 'definitely not here'. Why is that? I would feel much more safer with my kids walking around in the malls here than walking around the local high street back home.

Your 5 month baby is already crawling and going after the cat? Thats quick! When were playing with DS we call our cat over so they can see each other and i'll pet the cat gently and show him how its done. DS just stares at him. I have to put DS very close to the cat for him to get a grip on his fur and if he ever does I gently open up DS's hand. Obviously hes too young to understand what I'm teaching him but hopefully it will stick in. I've never let DS near the cats tail for him to grab it and considering he isnt crawling/walking yet thats not a very difficult thing to do.

Hello, a friend's baby, who is 3 months old, has eczema all over his face and some body parts and she is desperate for a solution and can't find a good doctor..can anyone recommend a good dermatologist or a tried and tested medicine? Thank you Weve been struggling with DS's eczema for quite some time now. In the end the following worked and it actually cleared up within 3 days! Hes skin is so baby soft again. 1. We grinded oats in the blender and gave him a oatmeal bath twice a day for only 10-15 minutes maximum at a time. 2. We literally moisturized him all day long with lipobase! I went through nearly a whole bottle in just a week. 3. We used a tiiiiiiiny amount of steroid cream on the eczema patches. A very very tiny amount twice a day. 4. Kept him cool and in limited clothing as we found being overheated made it worse and gave him slightly cooler than normal baths. Hope this helps. edited by Dubai_City_Chick on 18/01/2013

I have just tried out Salon Ink for a 2nd time, with a different stylist and have to say that I won't be using a salon again for color. I shall go back to Koleston. Dh1,200 and it really does not look like I have just had it done. That is so expensive. I want to get my hair coloured but I cant believe thats the average ladies here pay. My hair grows really quickly. I'll need to back for a touch up within a few weeks.

Yes unfortunately for some its alot more complicated than placing a wedge in the cot. DS was born at 2.7 kilos and went down to 1.8 kilos because he would just scream and cry in pain everytime we tried to feed him. Hes been hospitalized so many times due to dehydration I've lost count. Aptamil AR did wonders to start with then everything went totally downhill till he was diagnosed with cows milk allergy. He was put on neocate which is totally digested and non cows milk. It took a good 3 weeks for all the intrusive proteins to leave his body and for him to settle. He has massive feeding issues even now. Every feed (every 3 hours) is a massive struggle but we get there in the end. I dont know what your doing till now so I'll just go over some things. He is now coming upto 6 months old. When he was aptamil AR we made the milk fresh with boiled water which was still very very hot (left for 15 minutes) and dumped the bottle into a pot of freezing cold water from the dispenser. Milk would be ready within 15 minutes for him. We also added dentinox to his 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm and 6pm feed to help with getting all the wind out. A severe refluxy baby with colic on top is not fun. So we also had DS on a schedule. For us demand feeding just did not work with a reflux baby. He could easily over feed and then there would be vomit all over the place. We fed him every 3 hours and it took him a day or so to get used to it but he did very well on this schedule. Even now that hes 6 months old I feed him every 3 hours and that also helped with reducing the vomiting. Of course you would already know to not lie him down flat for a good 30 minutes after each feed (bouncer is a fine angle). His bed time and naps were in a basic fisher price bouncer with vibration. I felt the vibration really helped sooth him. I didnt like the way DS sat in the bouncer so I cut the cover from behind so that he could sink into his seat more. He really liked that. Hes always been tightly swaddled with a mothercare miracle blanket. I found them to be the best. He takes nexium morning and evening and literally within a week we saw so much difference. The reflux is by far cured but its so much more manageable for us now. He has 10mg at 8am before his 9am feed and he has another 10mg at 5pm before his 6pm feed. We tried every bottle under the sun. Nothing really worked and we kept going back to dr browns (available in toysrus and babyshop). I totally understand what you mean about the nipple being big. DS had a terrible gag reflex also and its only just gone away recently. You could always try NUK wide neck bottles. At newborn we were told by 12 weeks he would be fine, at 12 weeks we were told by 4 months he would be fine and at 4 months we were told by 6 months he would be ok and now at 6 months weve been told he will be on nexium and neocate till 1 year old. We expect to see some big changes by 7 months and I would say that although it does start getting better dont expect any miracles till this age. So many people will make you feel bad for medicatng your son but only YOU know what is right for you and your family. If I hadnt taken a stand and got DS on nexium god knows what would have happened to him. He was already under weight and losing more and more fast. Nexium and neocate have helped him to thrive and developmentally hes also caught up with age so I'm grateful to both. Let me know if theres anything else I can help you with xoxo

Due to sever reflux I need to put DD (7 weeks old) on AR formula. Should I use a #1 teat for 0-3 months for a Tommy Tippee bottle or should I go for a #2 teat - I have heard that this formula tends to be quite thick? Any suggestions please? With Aptamil AR we used dr brown bottles and level 2 teat. We made the milk 15 minutes after the water had boiled and it was a great consistency. Never too thick. Reflux is terrible. Our LO also has severe reflux but its now thank god somewhat under control. I would recommend nexium over losec if you do decide to medicate.

Ok, admittedly the controls r claiming my apartment temperature is 21 degrees but it feels much much colder:( I remember last year in Feb it dropped to 18 and by that time I was living on my sofa under a duvet and ventured out of said abode only to grab food etc... Yesterday I spent the day at a friend's who lives in a villa and it was toasty all day and I walked barefoot around her house...came home, took my shoes off and the tiles felt like ice! I'm not kidding, everything is soooo cold. Management just shrug their shoulders....am I the only one feeling this way...it can't be right that it gets this cold...pppplease hhelp! Hi Plum Tree. Its definitely cold but its definitely not as cold as your experiencing. We are still using our a/c at night. You need to ask them to check it out. In our last apartment there were some vents open which meant even though the a/c was off cool air was still circulating and thats what was making the apartment so cold. Here in Amwaj we also had the same problem and the a/c technicians came to solve the problem.

This appeels to me lol no seriously, sorry for being nosy, DCC--is this something like a high percentage glycolic peel, or what is the nature of it? I am interested in getting a peel like I see on the show 10 years younger where one looks like a zombie for about a week. This is the one your after! I was a bit disappointed though that the lady I consulted with made a point that this isnt a miracle skin cure. All these years I thought it was! They have them ranging from 12.5% all the way to 50% although I would recommend getting a 12.5%-15% MAX the first time round. For anything above 20% I'd go to a plastic surgeon as thats deep peeling. You also need a few. Its a one time thing. My skin is not bad though. By that I mean I have no deep acne scars or marks. My main issue is pigmentation from all those holidays without sun screen. If you want to try something without jumping to a TCA you could try a deep microdermabrasion with glycolic peel.

Did you end up doing the peel? How are the results? Hi there, Well I nearly chickened out! I had the 15% and boy did it burn for a few seconds. The day after I looked like an old lady because of the skin starting to peel. I'm now 4 days post peel and its healing well but its so difficult to resist itching. The lady who I had a consultation with was very nice and informative. She was honest to say that a skin peel is no way a miracle cure and went through some lifestyle changes with me as well. Once I see the results of the peel I'd be happy to recommend them.

DCC, sorry for being MIA. Thanks again for offering up your Gaviscon. I hate using it as we're EBF so giving it via syringe after a feed which is a pain. He's also on Zantac which I don't see making any difference. At what point did you switch to Nexium? His paed says that's the next step but I don't know whether to go in now or wait until his 2 month appt (on the 25th). How is the taste of Nexium? The Zantac is like gasoline and makes him gag and sometimes vomit (which he doesn't do with other meds). Try the gaviscon before the feed first so it can settle in his tummy for the feed. Zantac is disgusting but Nexium is not. I feed it to him via a droppler. I find medicine always comes out too quickly from a syringe. DS was on Nexium from 2 months old. Hope this helps.

We dont have the car park space here for 2 cars. So for now, once my driving lessons are done i'll just be driving DH's car for a few months. Maybe I'll need even longer than that before I can get behind a car like this?!

There will be many positions within a company where an employee is being replaced. Just because a hiring manager doesnt want to meet at their office doesnt mean they are hitting on you! Oh my, DCC how did you manage during that time? It must have been awful for you? Thankfully for both of you, he is doing better now. I would be grateful for the Gaviscon if that would be ok? I didnt know it was a milk thickener - do you need to change the bottle teat to allow for the thickened milk? Hi Mmmmm no it thickens in the tummy so you should be ok. Some people also give the gaviscon on its own before actually feeding milk as it settles in the tummy for the milk. Contact me [email protected] and we can arrange for the gaviscon for your LO!

We now have a settled LO after many months of struggling and trying to manage his reflux. In the end we took our LO to Infinity Clinic. The Ped's there are fantastic and were very understanding of what LO is going through. Like many others Zantac did nothing for our LO and he hated the taste of it. We also tried Motillium which wasnt much use to us. Infant Gaviscon is really just a milk thickener so it should help settle the milk in his tummy but that also didnt help LO. I have tonnes of sachets to give away if anyone wants them. He was then put on Nexium 10mg in the morning and 10mg in the evening and within 7 days we noticed such a MASSIVE difference. Our LO spent ALOT of time in hospital on IV's for hydration and to be monitored but nobody was really able to help us but the guys at Infinity Clinic. He would scream at every feed, if he eventually drank he would vomit it back and the entire day would be both me and LO in tears. I know many people dont like to medicate their LO's but finally seeing a smile on our LO's face and him having his milk again was enough for us to go down this route. We also tried 20mg in one dose but spreading it has been much much better. For those who have LO's really struggling with their reflux I'd highly recommend this drug. After some time the nexium also ended up not being enough but this was more so because he had a milk protein allergy. Hes now on neocate. This was identified by doing a simple stool sample test and hes now doing much better.
