You're lucky to get a current recommendation like that one from Plum as it's sometimes very difficult to find the right person for your child here, but this lady sounds great. You might just want to contact her yourself to ask what you've asked us? Your right...I will call and see what she advises...thx

Many thanks for your replies...I decided to give it another week or two and see if it improves...maybe the move has affected her and she needs time to settle...I know she really misses her grandparents. If no improvement, then will have a chat with her and see the specialist. Thx again for all the information :)

Hi .. does any one have a contact for TV installation on the wall? thanks edited by saggi_1 on 07/05/2013 I recently bought a few for our new house and the technician said the first mount is free but any concequent moves can be done but @ a charge...this was with Phillips. Perhaps its the case with other brands? Failing that the company I used for my home extension can do it since my neighbour used them too...let me know if you need the number. Thx

It depends on whether your daughter is aware of it and is self-conscious about it, I would think? Teacher confirmed my worry that she is aware and embarrassed abt it. Up to now I have not discussed it with so as to not make it an issue. Do you think I should or just hope it goes away?

Hi my 10 year old has suddenly developed a mild stammer. She went through a phase when she was 6ish but it disappeared but now its back suddenly. I spoke with the teacher who has noticed it too. Should I seek professional help or hope it disappears again. We have moved here recently and she seems happy enough so not stress related I hope...

Hey ladies.... Trying to come up with a budget for our groceries. DH and I and LO (14 months) spend about 800 dirhams a week at Carrefour. Occasionally we do a Spinneys run for another 200 a week. Just curious what the average family is spending on groceries. Do you consider 4k a lot for groceries? Back home in Germany this would be considered a lot of money. But here, I feel I am just taking care of the minimum to live a moderately healthy lifestyle. Hi, interesting article in todays Daily Mail about how much people from different countries spend on groceries...according to article the Germany was t most expensive weekly shop! But I hear you...cant believe I spent 24 aed for some crumpets....in UK it would have cost a pound! And the price of the yougurt "frubes"...omg! I am new to Dubai but some items here...i actually miss my local Tesco!

Hi Wednesday Genius, thx for your reply. We very much want the puppy to be part of our family...that the whole family are committed to.Its getting a Pom which my daughter is adamant on! i will speak to her re Puppy Mills...when I look at adverts for Pom's alot of them say home or hand reared...maybe they are using it as a marketing tool to avoid the whole puppy mill issue i guess...something I admit did not even enter m mind...

Oh my...!! Talk to her about where these dogs come from and explain how cruel this is (research puppy mills if you are not aware). When you have finished drying her tears and quite possibly your own, contact the rescue organisations (K9 Friends, Animal Action, Dubai Dogs Trust) all of who will have dozens if not hundereds of rescue dogs desperately in need of loving homes. Check out the adorable Buckley over on the Classified Board. Thanks for letting me know...tbh did not give it much thought but so glad you highlighted this info. Will have a chat with my daughter about this...she is 10 years old and going through the "celebrity" copying phase...one of her idols has one I think...so glad I asked this question...thank you!

Hi, any recommendations for a reliable contractor who can extend the living room in a Saheel villa. We asked Emrill for a quote - after 3 follow-ups, the contractor came and did an assessment. And after 2 more follow-ups, they are yet to get back even with any quote. Not sure I want to depend on them to actually rebuild part of my house!! Hi we used a company called The Property Box...being new had quite abit of work done and in terms of cost and work very good...the girl I spoke with was Tina 056 3970616.

Sure Samz! basically- she was previously working with an agency company and she was my regular helper when I moved to Dubai. When her contract with the company was up for renewal- I also became pregnant with #2 and my husband suggested we take over her visa seeing as how she has been working with us for a while and we trusted her. She was also keen on not renewing her contract and so we decided to sponsor her. The issue simply was that I do not have a maids room in my apartment and also- I do like my privacy so she said that wouldn't be a problem and she can easily find a 'room'. So included in her salary is her rent and transport to and from our home :) The process was pretty simple seeing as she's already in dubai, no agency fees, and transferring her visa has been very quick. Hi I am new to all this and really intrigued re maids....Have no idea where to start and the idea of a helper seems both alien yet temping to me. Spoke to some mums @ t school and they said be careful you are not " seasurfed"...maybe I am being thick but what does that mean?
