Thank u for ur replies. I totally forgot about the recreation centre, hubby did mention to me. Hello Dra and 0Z4 Yes it is very nice here at the compound, there's a Mosque just outside the compound gate. Ramadhan is going well as the days are shorter and we tend to stay indoors mainly during the day due to hot temp. All the residents on the compound are staff or family members of Sidra and they are very nice friendly. It's diverse and a lpt of muslims too from diff parts of the world. In regards to the visa, I think my hubby got his few weeks after being offered the job once the wholee application process was complete. Is this what you mean?

Hi there, Yes it has opened up. I'll be in that compound when I travel to Doha in the next few weeks. Has your employer offered you this compound?

Could be anytime in the next few months. Dont mind me asking but what area are you living in, as you mentioned theres a lot of indians near you. Also, what kind of accomodation would 14,000 qatari riyal get us. Anyone with any reviews on Qatar academy sidra and accomodation nearby that school?

As you mentioned the resident visa, how long does it take approximately? Hubby has been told it can take between 3 to 6 weeks. He needs to apply for my visa once he's in Qatar. I've been to Dubai for a holiday but never paid any notice to what living in the middle east may be like. I suppose I can get a rough idea from Dubai I suppose as I can tell from the traffic and driving experiences people seem to be mentioning. It was mad in Dubai so im assuming to expect same in Doha.

Do u feel it's been easy to adapt to Qatar and seem to settle ok? It will be a great change from the UK especially the weather lol. At the moment we have 4seasons in one day! Is it easy to get around places in Qatar. Is the main means of transport taxi's?

Thanks for your reply, very much appreciated. Sorry one more question, which area is mainly dominated with asian indians? We might be living in the Al rayyan area, not so sure yet. But i dont have any clue what to expect in doha. Also is there an area which id most popular with British expats?

Hi there, I will be moving to doha in a month or two from England, UK, as my husband has been offered a job at the sidra medical hosp. I was wondering whether anyone knows about shopping for indian spices ? Are indian spices readily available in the shops or only found in a particular area or not at all? Also can utensils be bought at cheap reasonable price (like pots and pans) or would it better to ship some of these to qatar (we get some allowance for this).
