Hmmm you know the saying if it's too good to be true, it usually is? Can't find anything about these doctors. They are on FB and I looked at the DR, he is ex John Hopkins so seems legitimate They use the brand Allergan and unfortunately I am immune to that product and prefer Dysport They told me on the phone it is just short of 900 for around the eyes and forehead Yes I read the fb page but googled and nothing. Just curious.

Talking of resentment, FairyDust, that's already BIG in this house, as my husband is furious with my son and my son is so so resentful that his father has no interest in acknowledging his talent or love for sports. This has grown over the years with my son's hobby growing into a hoped-for profession in sports; he has no interest in fame etc (he plays defence), it is just his passion and interest in life. His father sadly has no interest: only degrees and intellectual fame count for him. Yeah, see that's the issue. Put it this way, my father followed his dreams, his father never agreed with it and they ended up having virtually no relationship whatsoever. My parents never really agreed with what I wanted to do, but they always supported me 100%. You have to. Children should have the unconditional support of their parents. Let him at least try, if it works out fantastic, if not support him when he needs it. But what you don't want is for the relationship to become so bad, that at 18 he leaves home, does it anyway and never speaks to his father again.

I agree with your husband. All of these glorified players, Beckham, Ronaldo, are the one-in-a-millions. The Emirati team is highly competitive to enter, and if he were to get onto it, he would possibly get so much while he is playing, but once he turns 30, it's game over. And for the next 30-40 years? University is a must for me. I am an education first person, too. Education will never be a memory, it is a forever. Start having a look at how he could achieve both, so as to never have an unfinished dream. Middlesex is here, that could be an option. Balancing his social side will be the hardest. You can go to school and get an education at ANY point in your life! Whereas there is only a small window of opportunity to really make it in sports. At the end of the day many degrees are simply a piece of paper. Many of the most successful businessmen in the world never got a degree. Talent and skill counts for far more. If he excels at sport and has talent, it would be great to encourage it. Having an education is important, but not the be all and end all. I think you have to be careful about imposing YOUR dreams of what you want him to be. By the sounds of it, your boy would be brilliant in the fitness industry.

At 16 he's ok to use some protein supplements - but should really be light ones, natural Whey products and the like. You don't want him to start taking any steroids or hormone supplements. I wouldn't say the gym is a solitary activity, it's actually very sociable. I think it's actually nice to hear about a youngster taking pride in being fit and healthy and active. I wouldn't discourage it and maybe he can encourage his friends to join him.

I would have to disagree - I have curly/wavy hair and it does wonders! My hair DOES go straight and far more manageable and stays that way for around 3-4 months. I usually have it done at Salon Ink or Ted Morgan. Hair won't go poker straight, like rebonding, but it makes a huge difference to my hair which is usually a complete frizz ball.

I think it's disgusting the sheer number of people who have 'adopted' K9 dogs in previous years, are now bringing them back wither because they're old or can't be bothered to take their 'pets' with them out of the country! K9 now have 90 dogs on the waiting list to go back into the shelter and all the other organisations are inundated. What is wrong with people? If you take a dog, it's for life, not for as long as you can be bothered with it. I HATE these people, they don't deserve to have animals. Shaping up to be the worst summer ever for people abandoning their pets in the UAE.

Kerastraight is great. It's all natural products vs Brazilian Blowout which contains formaldehyde. It usually lasts for about 3-4 months and leaves your hair in great condition. Not cheap though, prices usually start at around 1,800 Dhs.

It's none of the banks business if you change jobs! I've changed several times, had car loans, credit cards etc - never informed them EVER! Also please don't it is now illegal for banks to freeze an account if you change jobs - some still do and should be reported to Central Bank.

Not legal for him to do that, because you don't know what the rent calculator will say next year. Don't sign that. Don't email RERA, call them 600 555556 They can also only give you 12 months notice if they site one of the four reasons in Article 33, Law 26.

Depends how far below the market rate, but the maximum any rental increase can be is 20% - but then your current rent would have to be 40% below the market rate. If it is between 11 percent and 20 percent lower than the average rent for a similar property, a landlord can increase the rent by five percent. The maximum increase can be 10 percent if the property falls 21 percent to 30 percent below market rates and 15 percent if the property is 31 percent to 40 percent under average rents. Any increase or change to contract must be done prior to the 90 day mark. To evict the must give 12 months notice with one of the 4 reasons as per Article 33, law 26. <em>edited by FairyDust on 20/05/2014</em>

I don't think it comes down to culture, nationality or education at all. Most westerners I know and certainly in my family will still 'smack' if a child misbehaves. We used to get a 'whack' with a wooden spoon - never did us any harm. The sheer lack of discipline of children these days is why we have a teenage 'thug' culture with youths who have zero respect for authority.

You're in the probation period - that's what it's there for! For either party to terminate without consequences. They might just ask you to reimburse for the labour card, which is minimal.

Sadly sourskittleashnut, the ground staff were in the wrong! Children, disabled people, elderly etc aren't allowed to sit next to door seats. In an emergency you need an able bodied person to be able to open it.

Sons over the age of 18 cannot be sponsored by their parents as far as I know. They can if they are still in full-time education. Once they leave school they need an employer to sponsor them. From the age of 18 the educational institution has to sponsor them don't they?

It's a valid question! I was talking to a lady last night, who was concerned that her teenage son and friends were smoking this. It IS very strong and DOES give you a hit! (as basically pure tobacco does). There should be concern whenever children are taking up these 'habits' which are harming to their health. Also these pipes are used in other countries for smoking 'other' things - so if you're not aware that it's 'normal' here and a 'local' thing it can also be odd to see for the first time.

I use Careem all the time. They are ALWAYS early and never had one fail to turn up. You have to pay using your credit card and bear in mind they cost more than normal taxis.

I've never heard of it being done this way to be honest. Normally when a company pays the LL - the housing allowance is separated from your main salary. So for example a salary is say 20,000 dhs a month, but you have a housing allowance of say 100,000 dhs which is totally separate. You'd have to speak to the Ministry of Labour about your contract and what your company have done as it sounds like a very weird process.

It really depends on the company. Some companies will pay the landlord directly. I think very few people actually get enough allowance to pay 100% of their rent these days. I'd say in the majority of contracts accommodation allowance is included in the breakdown of allowances that make up your total salary and most people pay the rent themselves.

Sorry to hijack, what are the rules in this case: Tenant has 3 year lease, at the end of the 3 years, the LL and tenant sign a 1 year contract. The contract says "this contract is not renewable, not negotiable, ends in 1 year, ends in March 2015" etc. But no formal 12 month notice has been given? I don't think RERA recognise non-renewable contracts. If they want you out in 12 months, they have to give you 12 months notice with the reason. Call RERA 600 555556

Hi ladies. I was just wondering what the outcome was on the below case. We were asked to sign a vacating letter in June 2013 not stating the reason (though her email leading up to this letter stated her daughter was moving in, so we thought fair enough and we signed). However, she has sold the property in January and the new landlord is saying he bought the property because of this vacating letter. New LL lives in the UK and owns 30 properties in Dubai so is not moving in. Is our old LL's vacating letter valid in this case? You seem to have had a very similar experience, so would love to hear from you. Thanks. No legal! A reason MUST be given for asking a tenant to vacate, with 12 months notice - RERA are absolutely clear on this. My LL sent me a 2 month notice stating he didn't wish to renew my tenancy agreement - this was also in my contract - but I have all the emails clearly outlining his only reason is to push the rent up - RERA told me in no uncertain terms that the law overrules this and he HAS to renew under the old terms - end of story.

Sadly if she isn't willing to listen to reason and isn't willing to help herself in this situation, then there's not much you can do about it and if you push it, y.u will drive her further away. Best just to leave it and be there when it eventually all comes crashing down - which by the sounds of it, is inevitable.

sincerely don't want to be a scaremonger but, about 10 years ago, my daughter's favorite teacher went to Thailand for a short holiday and never made it back (alive). She had gotten the appropriate jabs before she traveled, but she apparently traveled too soon for the antibodies to protect her system. She got bit the very first night in Thailand, and by the end of the week, her organs shut down one by one -- and passed away. It was fast. My daughter and I have never forgotten this and, as much as I would love to go to Thailand, I don't think we ever will. I am sure there have been many here who have traveled to Thailand with no problem, but it only takes the one time to change everything. Just putting this out there so people are aware. That's very sad but I'd say just unfortunate. You can't live your life saying you're never going to go somewhere. I get eaten alive in Thailand, never have any jabs and have never had an issue.

I would not recommend that you get a rescue dog if you have small children as you do not necessarily know how the animal has been treated. That's a terrible unfair statement Izzy - you constantly bash rescues! Not ONE person I know who has a rescue dog has ever had issues with theirs. ANY dog can become aggressive for ANY reason. I've known pure breds from breeders though who have turned out to be lunatics and complete nightmares!

There are so many rescue organisations inundated with puppies looking for good homes! K9, Animal Action Abu Dhabi, Dubai Senior Dogs Project, Sharjah Cats and Dogs Shelter and many more. Please don't buy a dog - when you do this, you contribute to a vile industry, that simply does not care about the welfare of animals. All the animals in pet shops have come from farms (not in a good way), where dogs are treated as breeding machines. Many are inbred, have fudged paperwork and are sick or have genetic issues - I've seen this so many times with people who've bought animals from shops here. When you adopt a dog, you save two animals - the one you give a home to and the homeless dog that can then take it's place. The shelters also have pure breds - yup they get dumped too and especially at this time of year. On a side note, K9 can be very fussy when it comes to homing dogs in apartments - the other organisations not so much. <em>edited by FairyDust on 05/05/2014</em>

We have, but we've also known people to loose too. Mind I do know that they had to do all the checking themselves and watch the villa. Why cant it be straight across the board?. The same for everyone. it would make life so much easier. There is so much talk about the laws now and it is in every paper so LL have no excuse. I bet the RC are inundated at present That's what put us off taking the LL any further. There are so many different answers being given to the same complaints that you can't be guaranteed anything. That's why I called about 6 or 7 times with the same query. Wanted to make sure everyone was singing the same song as it were. It's frustrating and I know so many people filing cases right now and so many people who have been given 12 months notice to vacate at their renewal. I really really hate to say it, but here's to hoping the bubble bursts again and people learn another lesson.

He was quite taken aback when DH turned round and said yes, but that's still six years away, what are you going to get in the meantime. I will add that we are paying the 10% as stipulated by RERA and getting the same contract as last year. He did "suggest" we could pay the same and have 12 months notice, but we want to leave when it suits us. And which of the four reasons was he going to stipulate in that 12 months notice? You know unless hey stick by it, they're banned from renting for a year. Is that enforced though. Didn't someone take a LL to court for the same reason and lost??? What you do is when you leave, you inform RERA and DEWA then they will only register the property in the owners name. They're being quite strict with all the laws now as they're are sick and tired of this happening. I was actually messaged by one of the Senior Directors of RERA and the Land Department and he said people have to stick to their guns and fight their case. Crikey, it has changed from the beginning of the year My friends has gone from 5% to 10% increase in less than 2 months! I think there will be a dramatic jump in some areas, but not in others - mine has only increased 3% from the last update and still means zero increase.
