Such is the way of the music industry these days sadly. I notice several student unions in the UK have now banned the song from playing. I personally like it. People read into things what they want at the end of the day. People need to self sensor - there's an 'off' button. Plenty of other songs have lyrics about having 'drug dealers on speed dial' - se.x and other things - nobody ever complains about them. They wanted a song that would sell fast, be a hit and controversial - guess what - it worked! Fastest selling song on itunes EVER, number one across the globe. People will ban it? Not likely.

Did mine last night on my iphone. Took about 15 mins - so far so good. I think there is quite a bit of unecessary stuff that I have turned off. However, it's definitely a battery sucking upgrade - make sure you turn off 'apps updating' in the background.

Download some pics you like, put them on CD - buy cheap t-shirts. Take to a Kodak or other photography shop and have them made. WOuld probably cost you less as well.

Try not to feel intimidated by classes. The majority of classes are for people of all fitness levels, you just do what you can. Most classes also have different moves for beginners and more challenging ones for fitter people.

There are several groups on facebook - have a search for them. Paddle boards hold their value and if they've been kept in really good condition, they rarely go cheap. Your best bet is to wait until the new stock comes into shops and buy last seasons gear at a reduced price. Watercooled at the Jebel Ali Hotel hire boards and do lessons - there's also a few freelance guys hiring and giving lessons. Surfdubai are not currently operating, but they had a load of second hand gear for sale. I have a Red Paddle inflatable board - they come with paddle and gear included and can be cheaper than the hard boards - many people are using these now are they're more cost effective and easier to transport. She was in absolutely no danger getting home at all. I certainly hope I don't come across as uncaring. Well you stated she was 'staggering all over the place', slurring her words, forgetting things - the way you wrote it, makes it look like she was smashed and definitely not someone who should be left alone. COuld you have over exaggerated the description to make it worse than it was? I really do hope so.

Fairydust. I didn't post on here to be criticized. But I do agree it's probably an escape. Well sadly if you post something on an open forum, then you kinda leave yourself open to that! I'm just saying, if she was in that kind of state, the 'human' thing to do, would be to make sure she gets home or whatever alright - you'd feel a whole lot worse if something had happened. I don't agree with how she's dealing with it and someone clearly needs to tell her that drinking in public is not on.

Ok, I will try to give a balanced reply on a subject which is very emotive to many - including myself. Sadly there are no ethical breeders in the UAE. I totally understand that some people want a specific breed of dog and that is fine - just do the research properly and source one from an ethical breeder with good credentials. I do not like it when people say 'why should someone take on someone else's unwanted pet' - this is an animal, with a soul and feelings you're talking about!!!! Animals are not things people can just toss aside and throw away like rubbish once they've had enough of them - which is why the shelters and rescue organisations have so many dogs in need of homes in the first place! Many people will have a certain dog in mind, but trust me when I say, having an open mind and an open heart and many dogs actually choose YOU, not the other way around. Before anyone even considers getting a pet - you simply MUST be aware that, that animal is for life. It's not a part time pet, nor a fashion accessory. Pets cost money and lots of it! You must make provision for vet bills and travel costs for when you leave - on average to take a pet with you can be anywhere from 10,000 - 20,000 Dhs and above when you leave the UAE. Air fares, kenneling, quarantine etc etc Now, you must also bear in mind that if you choose a certain breed, you must realistically look at how to take that animal with you. Many airlines refuse to fly short nosed dogs, because of the health risks involved - so, can you take a boxer with you if and when you leave? Research it! There are many places to look for animals here away from the pet shops - whch are just vile: K9 SCAD - Sharjah Cats and Dogs Shelter Dubai Dogs Trust Animal Action Abu Dhabi RAK Animal Welfare group Those are just for starters. <em>edited by FairyDust on 17/09/2013</em>

For some reason many people seem to like doubling up on their plurals here - drives me crackers. It's just because this particular part of grammar, is very hard for many to master. We grew up with it, so it sounds very odd to us.

They've made it 'opt out' because they're hoping people will forget! It's flippin' cheeky the whole thing. I called and opted out - they 'supposedly' call you back in 3 days to confirm you want to opt out - be prepared to spend about 20 mins on the phone while they try to convince you to stay on the new plan and upsell everything. I just said 'what part of NO do you not understand?'. The whole thing is ridiculous - free calls? Oh really! Well they're hardly free when you've just hiked up the price and higher upload speed? Who in the heck needs that? Not many people. It's just greed! Nothing more.

For tortoises I believe you need certificates from Cities for them. The same as you would for certain parrots. Try contacting the department of fisheries and agriculture who also deal with import/export permits for animals - they should be able to point you in the right direction.

It's not new at all. Imprted animals have always had to have rabies shots and blood work done to be imported into the UAE. That alone would send alarm bells ringing. Is this an 'ethical' breeder? Or someone you just sourced on the net? Please be very careful where you get animals from - many animals come from breeding farms, kept in hideous conditions - the breeders don't care and very often the paperwork is fudged and the animals sick. Research where you get an animal from very carefully. Try the shelters or dubizzle. Lots and lots of kittens needing homes. <em>edited by FairyDust on 11/09/2013</em>

I don't think there are plans for non-government employees. I think Abu Dhabi now has a rule as standard that you are required to show a tenancy contract for renewals - they don't want people sharing.

How come you all don't vaccinate your children against chicken pox? It's easy and chicken pox is horrible! Many people don't like to pump their children full of vaccines - there is some nasty nasty stuff used in them. Plus they are no guarantee of preventing the illnesses either. Nastier, say, than the germs that cause chicken pox or measles? The anti-vaccination movement is one thing I just don't understand. It's every parents personal choice. But you really do have to weigh up the pros and cons. All vaccines carry the risk of mild to very serious side effects. Not to mention the main ingredient in them is formaldahyde - which is just a nasty nasty chemical. I have a friend who has done so much research on the subject and due to her findings, she refuses to vaccinate her child. I called few places but everybody saying different things about how many sessions i need im caucasian with silky light hair..Im also little bit shy to ask if this procedure will remove hair only from (sorry) mons or further down too :) If you're hair is fair, it might not work for you, as lasers can only be absorbed by dark pigments.

The authorities really need to look at this whole situation before it gets out of hand again. There should be caps on how much properties can be rented for. Things can't just keep going up exponentially. Isn't that a free market thou? Rents go up, cost of living goes up - salaries aren't! There's becomnig a huge gap between what people earn and what they have to pay out just to survive. If they don't stop it - bubble burst and crash number 2 will be inevitable. Many people barely survived the first one.

Our LL asked for AED20,000 increase within last 3 months of renewal too....it seems to be a pattern and I think they do it because most actually do get away with it as they know people just dont like to move in Dubai. Awful ethics. They can't do that! Any rent increase has to be given in writing at the 3 month or whatever renewal period is mentioned within your contract. If that period of time has passed - tough. Also if the rent calculator says no increase, then also tough luck.

To register your contract it's only about 165 Dhs - you can do it yourself and it takes about 10 minutes! If you ahve any issues with your LL, the rent committee etc now will only really help if you're registered.
