Thanks for the advices ladies. I went to visit the Arabian Ranches Cattery and I was sad to see how small were the cages. Yes they are only pets but come on... Am going to DKC this morning - let's see...

Many thanks for your comments ladies because I never thought of this aspect! (i.e leaving and not coming back for the cats - why would go through this hassle to just do that at the end? It's manipulative and kind of cruel). I am a pet lover and these cats have been with me now for the past 9 years. They are my babies and it goes without saying that I will leave money for food/litter/vet if needed etc... (Of course!) and there will be regular communication as well... but I assumed this was a topic to be discussed in private with whomever showed genuine interest. I am trying my best to find them a healthy environment, while I am away, and was indeed relying on some charitable and kind-hearted families...but who knows...

Hi AdventurerB, I have already explored the route of our close friends and they either just had babies or already have pets...so unfortunately not a route with great hope for me :( I also already tried the pet sitting service (dont remember the company though) and I have to say that I was not very impressed - both my cats were extremely distressed after 3 weeks spent with the russian lady who was coming supposedly 'every day'. I don't know how they select their sitters (criterias, experience) or what the sitters do in the absence of the owners, but I remember thinking 'Never again!'. Too difficult to monitor. I was hoping to find on Expatwoman a family or a home who genuinely would like to try having pets, knowing that mines are already fully house trained and really cute ... To any good soul out there... :)

Good afternoon, I am desesperately looking for a temporary loving home for my 2 cats ( 9 years/7 years - male and female) :(( I have to go abroad for about 3 months and I don't want to leave them in a big cattery, lost in the middle of other creatures. I would rather leave them in a loving home where they can roam in and out. Sooo...I was wondering if any of your ladies were considering getting a cat/2 cats (well mannered, affectionate, well educated, all meds taken care of) to keep you company. We live in Arabian Ranches so anywhere around here would be ideal but not a must...

Anyone would know what to do when we want to file a complaint against a hospital or a doctor in Dubai? What is the legal process? Where to go/write?

Niamh88 - this crossed my mind few times I have to admit!:) Now, whether it is easy or difficult totally depend on the person I guess. It's like for everything else: some people will be faster in learning/catching things than others, like some people will quickly learn how to parrallel park, while others will never be able to do it or will take ages. Am gonna call few more driving schools to find out and will definitely investigate the intensive training (faster AND cheaper from what I can already see) - as recommended by Sandy Dogg- in my home country!

already did.The lady I found told me it was mandatory to go through the whole thing again - 'as - per - our- rules' and could not give more info. I will try others tomorrow but am trying to assess whether or not I should fall for this additional money making scam from these driving centers or if there are other options.

Thanks Wiggywig for the informative answer! Indeed these are 2 different type of cars and it is exactly what it is about : 2 different ways of driving. The driving regulations and rules remain more or less the same here. Is it really worth spending 20-30 hours (+ 3500 aed..ouch) learning how to manually manipulate a car (20-30 hours which will most certainly be 80% theory and 20% practice)? Does one really need THAT MUCH time, especially when already an experienced driver? Is anyone aware of any express individual classes that would suit this situation? Trying to find an alternative here...

It really depends on the relation you have with this colleague. 1 - If it is a nice colleague, I would try to give the message indirectly. For example, you start the conversation about clothes, then say that some fabrics are better than others and that some of them give YOU a bad BO, so you take the wise decision to not buy them. I would add:'for example, if I was wearing your type of suit/shirt, it wont go with ME at all and i'd develop strong odors, I'd much rather go for cotton blabla..'. She may get the message. 2 - if it is NOT a nice colleague, then you let the HR deal with it.

Hi Keila, we had a great experience with a company called stephane pierre catering. It is european with a middle eastern twist but the food was excellent and it was more a 'chef at home' experience. Actually, I found a whole list of caterers on voiladubai dot ae. That will certainly help you decide :)
