I got a dermalogica facial at Dubai Mall and to tell you honestly, i wasnt impressed at all for the price I paid - it was quite expensive for a mediocre facial. She didnt do all extractions properly and I still had marks...Having said that, I was one of the first customers of Lydia and recommended her on this wesbite too but since then, its been a year and it has been impossible for me to get an appt with her. She is either not working at the times that I want or is completely booked. They ask for a 2 months wait to get an appt. Am quite upset abt that, although happy that she is doing well but she should think of a succession plan or train someone else to manage her customers and timings better. I go to a lady at Patsy Collins in Mirdif and she is the best I have known. It is a bit of a drive and she uses Guinot products, but I had bad acne and she is the only one who has managed to clear it all out...everybody that I have suggested her to, dont go else anywhere. Best of luck in finding someone reasonable and good! Hi SanRan, Can you share the details of the Patsy collins place ar Mirdif and the lady who does the facials ? I have acne and dry skin and would love to go based on recommendations.

Hi Beebers, You are simply amazing! Thanks a ton for all the supportive answers.I have about 15 kg to lose and I was unable to stick to any diet or exercise regimen for long. The meal plan you follow looks like something I can stick with as it's simple. My question is,are there any alternatives for egg whites scramble ? Currently my choice of breakfast is oat bran(1/3 cup) cooked in 1 cup of organic soy milk with nuts and died fruits. I eat this everyday. What do I do with all the egg yolks ? (Pardon my ignorance) Hi Farwin :) This is just one example, I usually do a plan for a few weeks until I get sick of it, but I am all about easy prep, ability to cook some items in bulk, and portability. I toss my egg yolks :/ I used to buy liquid egg whites in the carton back in the US but they are sooooo expensive here! Your breakfast doesn't sound bad. I don't digest fruits well with fats so I don't mix them. If your breakfast doesn't upset your stomach or hinder your fat loss efforts just stick with it. If it were me, though, I would probably ditch the dried fruit, keep the nuts in my oat bran, and add at least a half scoop of whey protein--vanilla would work lovely in that. Protein should be a part of any meal. Also make sure your soy milk doesn't have anything hydrogenated or sugars x Oops, the soy milk has organic cane sugar. I normally buy the Silk brand and since it's not available all the time I use another brand. I add dried fruits for the sweetness. I'll try the whey protein. I've always considered whey protein as post workout shake. Never knew I can have it as a snack or with the main meals.

oh! just re-read. okay. Sweet Sugar, I like Paleo best for people that really can't be bothered to count or measure food. By avoiding grains and the other no-nos on Paleo, one can follow the pillars without much math and still reduce. But how hard is it to measure, really? Yes! Read Body for Life. I did that in 2000 the first time I wanted to lose weight, and went from a US sz. 12 to a US size 4 in 3 months, adding in the workout program! This is my current regimen, super easy to follow. I began 2nd January and since have lost the 3lbs I put on over the hols. :) I do 5 meals a day. 1) 5 egg whites scrambled with oat bran (1/3 cup dry measure) and I add 1 tsp psyllium husk powder. 2) 1 protein shake (I like Syntha-6 by BSN right now) 3) 4-5 oz chicken breast with 3/4 cup cooked measure brown rice, and about 1 cup mixed veggies (frozen peas, carrots, corn & green bean blend) 4) another protein shake 5) 6 oz cream dory fillet, pan grilled with a huge bowl of steamed broccoli and cauliflower. This might sound ultra boring, but a little organic soy sauce, horseradish, mustard, malt vinegar, and curry paste go a LONG way to jazz up veggies, chicken and fish! I am cooking with PAM spray right now, and since I am not using olive oil, I supplement 3x a day with omegas. I get a little healthy fats from the fish, too. :) The only other supplement I take is spirulina, adding a tsp to my first protein shake. Hope this helps! If you need more explanation or info for substitutions let me know. Hi Beebers, You are simply amazing! Farwin, I had cystic acne for two years, and it was painful to the touch, just awful. I tried Bare Minerals for this, and it made my skin itch. Some people like it, but I hated it. If you have large pores, it also amplifies the effect if you apply too much. I was an artist at Sephora in a previous life, so luckily I was able to scour the store trying nearly all of them. Certain brands have more fragrance than others, and foundations would irritate my acne with no particular rhyme or reason. Oil free doesn't always matter, either--acne is not just a surface issue. I ended up using Dior Forever or YSL believe it or not--and those would likely be the last ones you'd think!! The coverage on Forever was just awesome, and the acne all but disappeared when I wore it. But that was 2007/8 and I think they changed the formula a bit. I would still give that a shot, and the YSL formula that is less emollient. Note: if you have a lot of superfluous hair on your face, a thicker matte foundation like Forever can make your face look hairy. If this is the case, try the YSL radiant, which is less matte. HTH edited by Beebers on 17/06/2012 Thanks beebers. You're so willing to help with all of your informative answers and I can't help but send a virtual hug to you. :)

A google search revealed there's a place in Dubai which sells it but the contact number is not in use anymore. Have heard good reviews about Everyday Minerals specially for acne prone skin.Since I'm going on vacation in a few weeks time I don't want to order it online. Beebers, have you come across any other good brands that's good for acne prone skin ? I need some coverage.Don't want the aunts going on "ooh, you've got spots" about my face... :(

You mean the kind that makes steam, similar to what an asthmatic uses? I saw one in the pharmacy on LG floor Dubai Mall last week, you could add Vick's to it as well. It's the one near the exchange & Lifestyle. Otherwise if you want a regular one that uses vibration and not heat, Home Centre had them for 179dhs. I have one and it goes all night on a full tank. You can add scented oils etc. So far no problem using tap or bottled water. I've also seen them in Sharaf, Plug-Ins etc but more expensive. It's the steam one I'm looking for.Didn't know asthmatics use that. I heard the vibration one leaves a black or white fine film over everything. Is it true?

DS is suffering from crusty nose and cough and I read that having a vaporizer/humidifier can help.I saw cool mist and ultrasonic humidifiers in some pharmacies but these needs to be filled with "filtered" water.Don't know whether bottled water will work, though. I couldn't find the vaporizer, the kind which boils the water and releases the mist, anywhere. Has anyone using it ? Where can i find it ?

Well I doubt that one can give valid advice on the babies health in a forum. Seruiously just see one or two other doctirs till you find one you trust. i guess you didn't read the entire post.I'm not asking for any valid advice regarding my baby's health.Similar experiences and recommendation for a good pediatrician..

Hi I felt like that also, everywhere i went and still do look at peoples skin. the zinc is made by solgar its for healthy skin and hair, its an antioxidant that boosts your immune system. I wanted B vitamins because i thought maybe my skin was a hormonal change even though all blood tests and investigations were fine. i needed to boost my mood, felt like it was taking over my life, didnt want to go out, snapping at the kids its really hard when its our apperance. I really feel for you. I hope the tea tree works for you if you try it, i love it, xxx sorry forgot the Bare essential make up i get from sephora marina mall. edited by twiglet on 07/02/2012 edited by twiglet on 07/02/2012 Oh,I feel the same way.snapping at my kids and not in a mood to do anything.Apart from applying all the lotions and creams,I was thinking of taking Diane, the contraceptive pill,as most people swear by it.Even the pharmacist was recommending it the other day.Since I never had anything like that before I was reluctant.Any ideas ?

When I was turning 30, my skin completely went to pot. Cystic acne mainly around the chin, temples, and even neck. Everyone wanted to blame it on food, but my nutrition is super. hormone test proved in check. Basically, all of the usual suspects were ruled out. To make it worse, I was a skin care expert at Sephora at the time, and i thought, oh great; there goes my credibility. Took Accutane--received my first forehead wrinkles! Took a while to eradicate those. My recommendation is steer clear of accutane, but sounds like that wasn't a real consideration for you. After trying every product in Sephora, and even drugstore brands: this is what I found to be best. 1) A gentle, alcohol free cleanser. Just because you have spots of acne doesn't mean you want a harsh cleanser for the whole face. I found that Purity from Philosophy was excellent; still use that most of the time! 2) A benzoyl peroxide spot treatment for the blemishes themselves. after cleansing, wait 5 minutes. then massage the b.p. for about 2 minutes into affected areas. use a lot. wait another 2 minutes, blot off excess. wait 5 minutes, apply nighttime moisturizer. Yeah, it is a bit of a process, but worth to do every night. After 3 nights in a row of benzoyl treatment, skip a night or two, then repeat usage. I used to buy straight benzoyl from perricone, but proactiv has a 8% which is plenty. you really don't need more than 10%. 3) moisturizers: don't be too afraid of oil. Oil is not the enemy, and you need properly moisturized skin to avoid scarring! your skin has oil in it; I believe it needs oil unless you have oily skin. I had normal to dry w/ acne! Try the Body Shop vitamin E day cream. lightweight, nice, anti scarring properties. Your skin is going to have to ride this out. Oil free will not really help judging by your description. 4) masking: once a week, try a sulfur mask (used DDF's but don't know what is here) or if you can find bentonite clay powder from the health food store to mix with apple cider vinegar. gnarly smelling but it works!!! it will bubble when you mix the two, leave it on 10 inutes, and skin is red when your wash off. But redness fades. 5) exfoliation: perhaps a gentle toner like proactiv repair lotion. alcohol free, mild glycolic acid content. I would start with purity cleanser, the proactiv toner (repair lotion), body shop vitamin E cream for day (but use day and night) and a benzoyl peroxide cream, possibly proactiv's also. I have used everything from a to z, and expensive was not better. Good luck, and sorry I am no dermatologist here, but I know enough about skin care and also about having acne. After a year, mine went away. good luck! Thank you so much,Beebers.I know what you must have gone through.Where can I get the Purity cleanser ?
