Do they actually pay you for your time or do you just get refunded for what service or product you buy/have? Is it worth it for the pay or is it more of a pain than it is worth?

Trying to figure out a way at the moment how we can leave, just not worth our while to be here anymore, salaries are not worth being away from family, friends and home country. Dubai is way to expensive with very little reward, traffic has become a nightmare and a little nervous about the unrest in this part of the world. Have been here nearly 10 years, lucky we saved money when we did, as now cannot save anything as cost of living and no salary increase from husbands company in close to 3 years and a reduction in "benefits" just not worth it anymore. I see a major exit of western expats as to be honest why would you stay unless you had no choice?

I use to enjoy them back in the day roughly 10 years ago when spectrum on One was 150 dhs including moet! I guess back then everything was cheaper and brunches were not common at every hotel and restaurant in the city and a brunch was for a occasional special outing not a "every weekend" chow down.

i would think it is but most people plan their own holidays dont they or am i mistaken ? i am just thinking out aloud here so pls dont mind me Have to agree with you stylex1, was thinking the same thing, especially with the internet.....just wishful thinking on my behalf! isnt travel counsellors a tough /competitive one to do ? Oh....I have never heard of it stylex1, but as travel is my hobby and life, I thought maybe I could make a business out of my travel experience? Do you not think it is a good idea?

So sorry to hear that....glad to hear you are ok though, I have seen plenty of questionable driving in the past week too. Yes I think you are right Londiamond about the rent increase and everyone having to move further out.....not going to get any better soon then! There also seems to be a lot more of the hyper aggresive types on the road. I was almost killed this weekend but someone overtaking on the hard shoulder and then cutting back in front... I had the children in the car and was really upset. I'm shaking thinking about it.

Or has the traffic gotten so bad that most of Dubai is gridlocked most of the time now? Has there been a influx of new people after summer? Seems there is so much more traffic everywhere now, hope Dubai is planning to open a new road or at least some more lanes on the main ones?? Al Ain road now is grid locked most of the time as are most other main roads, I am sure it is only going to get worse! Imagine by 2020.....
