Hi Emilie. What area do you live in? I have a consistently fantastic gardener who does the area around Jumeirah 1.

Hi Nilab. I'm a business English language instructor. I would say that the language training landscape has changed hugely over the last couple of years. I literally used to run from job to job and didn't have enough time in the day. It has never been well paid but there used to be lots and lots of work available, and it was amazingly good fun. In the last 2 or 3 years, that has changed and companies train in-house where they can, or outsource as cheaply as they can. If you are a contractor, you won't get paid during public holidays, probably during Ramadan (when classes are cut short or avoided) or for chunks of the summer when it is quiet. I recently delivered some workshops for a major company who told me on the first day that they intended to see how I delivered and then take my materials and deliver it themselves in-house. And that's exactly what they did. They're not the first - everyone is trying to save money. In a nutshell I would say if your income is a second income for your household - and you have a well paid husband - then you can survive in Dubai. If you are single, I would strongly recommend that you look elsewhere because Dubai is an eye-wateringly expensive place to live and there isn't much work here at the moment. You would be wiser to go to Asia where the cost of living is so much cheaper and language opportunities abound. Good luck with your search.
