Operation Oddyssey Dawn....now that HAD to be decided by the US! What a ridiculous name We are pretty good at these stupid naming schemes...It's like the war generals are 9 year olds on a playground. Absurd. If this is what was chosen, can you imagine what silly names got rejected? edited by gleekfamily on 20/03/2011 It appears u know little how military operates and why names like these are used. But ready to ridicule service man and women. One of the most "boring" reasons is accounting.Rest u can ask Mr.Google.

umm - is it me, or does it just appear that the US & UK only bother with oppressive / tyrant regimes that are in countries with copious amounts of oil........They don't seem to bothered with Tibet or Burma..... or am i just being a little cynical? USA was bothered in Balkans. After EU countries couldn't be bothered for 5 long years. After Dutch UN soldiers left thier post in Srebrenica. And after Serbs started to massacre Albanians in Kosovo. So not , they are not only bothered when oli is in question. I'm personaly grateful to American nation for stoping the war in Balkans.

Sorry but, its important to point out that the US is held responsible for everything that happens in this world. If they had stepped in ahead of time in any of the issues in the middle east, they would be scrutinized for wanting to take over these countries (as usual). The US is doing the right thing this time by letting the rest of the world decide and participate equally. We are damned if we do and damned if we dont. Please people make up your mind. thumbs up!

I was 19 at that time and one of those being trampled upon. One kindly lady picked me up and dragged me down the stairs of the bus to safety. What I'm trying to say is that none of us can know what we will do until it happens. x I can tell you from 5 y war experience...there will be ppl sticking together to help each other survive/leave, and there will be ppl making profit from it all, and those who will run and leave everyone behind, particularly maids, labourers. In fact we have already saw it here, as soon as the world crisis hit, all those camps full of labourers abandoned, without water, electricity or food.No money to go back home.

Oh no, Trader Joe's quite cheap. Whole Foods is expensive (Whole Foods Whole Paycheck). I would love to have a TJ here. Trader Joe's is really expensive in the USA, so can you imagine how much it'd be here? edited by AnonDubai on 16/03/2011 really, my daughter(she is in usa) and me have been comparing prices back and forth...and some of the stuff is way cheaper at the wholefoods, and not to mention that organic stuff was cheaper than regular stuff sold here.Particularly fruit.

We've got friends coming from Greece for Greek Easter, and it is traditional to set up a spit in your garden to roast your lamb or kid, preferably over vine branches, for the Easter Sunday meal. This is the only time I have known Greek men to cook :) If you don't have a spit in your garden, the tradition is to take the meat and potatoes to the baker's before going to the Saturday midnight Easter service and pick it up in the morning for lunch (well, it is in our family, anyway!) :) Doubt if we'll manage that, somehow :) ohhh stop it now...making me drool:) i miss lamb on the spit..hot juicy meat..

The fact that Japan is now facing a nuclear radiation leak threat (even if it remains a threat and doesnt escalate to a full-blown crisis) is enough to put weight to the argument of whether such a facility should have ever been operated, no matter the safety features, in a country with the earthquake history that it has. ok...what is your idea/suggestion of viable, relatively cheap technology that will power Japan.Or world... btw. i believe nuclear energy is the best thing and cleanest thing we have so far...and have no problem with it...i suppose many will be moving then, as UAE signed agreement last year to build one here(nuclear plant). edited by Goose on 13/03/2011

Also, it would probably be better to follow Japanese national TV news with regular updates, then what some journos around the world are writing(and some stuff is absolutely bordering total and utter ignorance) and are trying to make a buck by panicking ppl(apparently there were photos of fire in the refinery attached to nuclear plant containment news) http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/13_27.html

The fall out will destroy (not only environmentally but economically) many of Japan's neighbours that are of some of the poorest countries in the world. Who will buy, say Filipino bananas if they have radiation rained on them. Chernobyl nearly whipped out welsh lamb farmers..... Sorry but totally irresponsible of Japan to have nuclear reactors.... why on earth wasn't America going ape over these? when they seem to be itching to go to war over Iran's attempt to get nuclear power? Seriously some skewed politics going on. U do understand that Ukranian plant and the one in the Japan have nothing in common...ie. they are completely different design. What happened in Ukraine and how was that plant operated and build(and type alone) is completly diffrent story.

Been to quite a few lingerie shops here and nothing. Been to Debenhams and they only have this thick tummy tucking band thats attached to it, I don't want that. I just want a simple nude coloured half slip that you can get in most womens clothing shops in the UK. Help! If I can't get it here, my last resort is to order it from the UK. which I'll have to wait for. :( Etam.

definitely perfumes, oils, incense, frankincense(sourced from the region)...as i believe there is whole niche market for those products which is growing. That is what i would try.Even Sephora is selling oil perfumes. What do others think?

For those having their dig at it being an 'Arab' syndrome, how rude and racist of you. How dare you say that Arabs are spoiled or the like for having several maids/nannies given that these 'Arabs' and 'locals' are contributing significantly to the economies of these peoples countries because whether it would be the job you would do or not it is still an income for these people to send home. while I see how u could get offended...This issue of "maid culture" and "kids being raised by maids" has been raised and discussed by far more public figures in this country(nationals), rather then just and only expat women living here(with more or less PC comments about it). like in this article...but there are more "controversial" ones then this one. http://gulfnews.com/opinions/columnists/parents-bear-the-primary-responsibility-for-children-1.85836

Just to add, in case you didn't know, that you can get arrested/fined in certain European airports for carrying a fake designer handbag. Is it worth the risk? I think that is just Paris? Italy is red hot on stopping people at the border, especially road crossings, people doing day trips into France to buy replicas and then they get them confiscated at the border. Italy is protecting their designers or so they say it wouldn't surprise me that the border police confiscate them and then resell back to the market traders.:\: P.S. This is not giving an opinion on the rights or wrongs of replica goods - just stating some facts. BTW beware of scam/internet replica company this is the real site www.hollisterco.com this is the fake http://www.hollisterukshop.com/ I know of many who have bought goods from the fake site thinking it was the real one and are now trying to get their money back through credit card insurance etc. edited by Dally on 23/01/2011 i gave up on repeating this info here on EW....it seems it falls on deaf ears...mb when they get stopped at the border crossing it will ring a bell.

You are supporting child/slave labour by shopping at some full priced stores too! Exactly. Every single one of us living in this country, toting 'real' handbags or not, is profiting from slave labour. Who do you think built your villa, does your maintenance, cleans the malls, sweeps the roads etc., It is pretty hard to stand on your ethics here and follow them through in all aspects of your life, when people are being exploited right under our noses. so what you are saying, one more "wrong" is ok...

Afternoon, DD of 3 yrs still drinks milk and if am lucky she will have coco pops in the morning..Most of the time she refuses cereal or bit of cheese on toast ... drives me nuts and I feel like a bad mother sending her DD to nursery and not ate nothing but drinks milk only! Every morning is a struggle to get her to eat advice plzzzzz :( my older one had that period, i went to her doc, and he basically said if she is healthy she is fine. However for a period of time she would only drink milk...a had to really struggle and pass some food, it was vicious circle where i would end up giving milk rather then having her run around hungry. He asked me to try and cut some milk out and see if she asks for other foods...sometimes it is enough just to leave some food around(fruits and cheese) for them to start to nibble..and things improved with time... its just those things little ones got trough..
