... We have tried Mustela and Cetaphil on DS1 but not effective. Actually the Mustela products for eczema-prone skin are heavily scented! Not all of them are scented. The Dermo-pediatrics range (Stelatopia etc) are fantastic. As good as QV, but more expensive. We used them on my little one (while QV seemed to be out of stock for a while) and loved it. My eczema tormented son had no issues with it. I swear by the Mustela milky bath oil for newborns. :)

There is an excellent range called QV. It is very natural with no added perfumes. Affordable too. The QV range is brilliant. Johnson's are full of fragrances and other nasties that are really not the best for young skin. QV is in most pharmacies.

I read that this morning as well. OCD much? I mean come on! Most of the stains in the clothes come from them falling on the floor and not from 'bodily transfers'. Also thought the bit where she mentioned that there are so many different nationalities in Dubai quite offensive. She is basically saying she thinks some nationalities are cleaner then others. Presuming that she finds her own the cleanest! And the part at the bottom about making clothes erm dont we have those people already they are called TAILORS Um, yep! And yes, I always wash new clothes as soon as they come into the house. I wonder how the author does her grocery shopping. She must completely freak out about all of the people before her who've picked up fruit & veg, or picked up jars to read the label....

Ah DC...I SO hear you. Could it be as simple as needing an earlier bedtime? My middle girl was exactly the same, and as soon as I tried an earlier bedtime (6pm for her), problem solved. If they are overtired, they sometimes just cannot get into a deep, relaxed sleep. I have my fingers firmly crossed it's sorted easily for you. xxx

I think it's how people feel if they are safe... I've been here 4 yrs and I don't get flashed at to move out the way or cut up any more than when I drive my husbands 4x4 .....I think u find if the drivers want to cut u up or flash u they will no matter what car you drive. Maybe your not a confident driver of not driving properly yourself if you getting told to move out the way. I see it all the time people in there own world driving there 4x4 and small cars in the middle lanes getting in the way of others ,some people don't know that there are slow lanes to use. It's all about people feeling confident so they get a bigger car. But that's exactly what I'm saying was NOT my experience. I drive with the same capability and confidence no matter what vehicle I'm in, while taking into account the capabilities of the vehicle. Every bad experience I had on the Dubai/AD roads was in a small car. I agree some drivers, irrespective of vehicle, will bring upon themselves the wrath of the ignorant/selfish/dangerous/aggressive drivers on the roads. I just think that if you have halfway decent driving capabilities and you're in a big vehicle, you're less likely to be bullied (or bulldozed) by a big white Landcruiser.

Because ticks are so prevalent here, the vets recommend it be applied monthly rather than 3 monthly. Not sure if it was what you did anyway, just a thought. Yep...all of the dogs in K9 are treated monthly. They have dozens of dogs and never a tick. Some of the poor pups that come in from the street are absolutely covered in them. Once we had a pup who had so many ticks he couldn't see. :( Those spot-on-the-neck treatments work brilliantly, if applied monthly. Getting them out of the house...you may need to investigate 'safe' pest control for your home.

I had one when I first came to Dubai as I always wanted one. Apart from the space being an issue even if you think it won't be, it didn't pick up speed fast enough (it sounded as if the gears were taking too long to change, if that makes sense) and it was way too small for Dubai roads. There's absolutely no respect for small cars here. After my second accident (both times knocked from behind) I decided to sell it after just 5 months :( I have since bought SUV's, couldn't be happier and feel like I "belong" on the road. I must say that was our experience too...and our 'small' car was not small! The first car I drove for 2 yrs was a massive, American 4WD. I never, once, not ever had some goose trying to intimidate me on the road. I'm a very cautious, confident, aware, defensive driver and my driving style did not change when we switched to a Volvo estate. From the very first day in that smaller car, I was constantly on alert, looking for bigger vehicles that were ALWAYS getting right up behind me, cutting me off, sometimes seeming to not even see me. I had numerous, frightening near misses on the roads in Dubai...every one of them in the 'smaller' car. The environmentalist in me likes to think I'd go for a 'small' car again, but no way. Until those roads are safe, I'd choose the biggest, strongest car I could afford. (Sorry planet.)

I've used the P&T for my older two, then for my middle + youngest child. None of them have ever (from birth) liked being in the back seat. I know people who swear by the P+T so not everyone has this issue. There are side-by-sides that easily fit through a standard doorway. I have the Peg Perego Aria twin and LOVE it. It takes a car seat for a newborn on one side, both seats lie back flat, tonnes of storage in the basket, lightweight, true one-handed open and close. I'm told you can't buy them new in UAE any longer. Might be worth searching for a second-hand one. (mine is second hand and perfect)

Have you tried more than one vet for varying opinions? Without knowing (nor needing to know) where you've already been, The Vet Hospital, Safa Vets, Blue Oasis (and others) all get regular, excellent recommendations on here. For what it's worth, I had a German Shepherd who used to throw up a lot. Eventually he was diagnosed with a huge number of chronic allergies including lots of environmental allergens and beef! His vomiting was worst in spring when all of the plants were coming into flower. I found a premium dog food (no colours, no preservatives, no beef, low fat etc etc) which he did ok on, but I had to mix the dry food with porridge and stir a raw egg through it all. GROSS, but it kept his sensitive tummy settled. It could be allergies, it could be just that he's a glutton and his tummy doesn't like the un-chewed food, could be lots of things. ;) Fingers crossed a vet will find the answer for you soon. Do you have the contact info for the previous owners? Perhaps ask them about her history?

Thank you all for the feedback!! LMAO-DXB: I really like it too.. DH says it looks plastic. Was that so?? I've never driven one. [b'>Greenish: I might buy from dubizzle etc.. and I am not sure if ppl are OK to let u test drive :( will try doing so.. I am on a bulky side so I guess I should certainly try it out before I buy.. [/b'> Pamya: I need a fuel efficient car that would also be speedy.. and i think all such cars are not very safe in Dubai. We have a Range Rover, but I tend to drive a lot and the fuel is killing us.. Don't buy a car they won't let you test drive!! If the owner is not comfortable with letting you give it a good test and taking it to a mechanic for a check over, don't even think about buying it! ;) Perhaps, in the meantime, you could go to the new car dealership and test drive a new one, assuming it will be a similar size/shape/comfort model as what you intend to buy. Good luck!

Thanks ... I was looking up the same thing as I was getting worried. Now I know why my feet are looking puffy! Took a paracetamol and feeling a bit better. Can't believe the pharmacist did not suggest this. Make sure you drink lots of water to help your kidneys flush out some of that extra fluid. Rest as much as you can (although light exercise can help get the fluids moving on too) and keep your feet elevated on a footstool when you are sitting down. Avoid salty foods, eat well and I hope you feel much better soon. Your body is slightly immuno-compromised during pregnancy so viruses etc will often hit a bit harder than usual, and may take a little longer to recover from. If you don't feel you're improving in a day or so, best to see your GP or OB to make sure you don't need antibiotics.

All I can suggest is to have a few, long test drives. Make sure it's really comfortable for you to sit in. My husband had one as a hire car for a while. We both found the seats SO uncomfortable. I'm on the high side of average height and found the seats too small and narrow; my husband almost had to curl in on himself to sit in it. Other than that, it was a zippy, efficient little car. :D

Sorry but I do not understand the purpose of posting this on a public forum as your message will probably not reach her at all. Why didn't you talk to her directly? Did all of you lost your tongues at this time? If for no other reason than to vent some of the frustration, I can see why the OP posted. Some people are not confident enough to approach others, especially in times of stress. Give her a break.

If the tank is big enough to house them all, you can provide somewhere for the little ones to hide so they have a chance to get away if needed...a few rocks in a pile or some shells (makes sure they are all very clean) will do the trick.

Does anyone know where I can buy either lego or playmobil advent calendars? Thanks I bought mine (one of each Lego & Playmobil) via Amazon & had them Shop & Shipped over...even with shipping they were almost half the price of the ones I found locally. I few of us got together, ordered quite a few and split the shipping charges...worked out even cheaper. :D Thanks. I had looked at Amazon but wasn't sure how long it would take for them to be shipped. How long before you got yours? Using S&S it took under 10 days from memory.

New Mums receive so many, many gifts for the baby and so very few for themselves. :D How about a very cute outfit for the baby (there are lots of really gorgeous gender neutral ones around if you don't know what she's expecting) and a spa or massage voucher for her. If you go for a pamper voucher, be sure it has a looooooong expiry date as it might be a while before she finds the time to use it.

The price for a nanny is being indeed very expensive. What is the average of the slary?[b'>I have bring one from Philipine and pay her 800 DRH[/b'> but i found out the locals are taking much more. I am searching for a nanny, if you can give me adress. Thanks you When was this? You do realise that, by law, you must pay a Filipino maid at least 1400dhs/month? Sponsorship costs, monthly salary, heath card/care, flights etc etc etc...add it all up and a maid will probably cost (overall) a bare minimum of 2000dhs per month, more (as legally required) for some nationalities. The safest way to hire is through a reputable agency. If something goes wrong, they must help sort it (replace the maid etc).

Probably best to take accurate measurements of your foot length, calf circumference etc and send those the person who'll be shopping for you. If they are going to a half-decent store, the staff will be happy to double check the fit for you. :)

Oh Mareike...you have made my day! :D I keep reading the first post I wrote to the OP and worrying that it's SO judgemental and angry that I may do my 'cause' more harm than good. I do always try to remain calm and balanced but this topic just makes my blood boil. (Sorry farfaraway!) THANK YOU for seeing past my manner, and taking on board the information I was trying to share. I can totally see why people think these teeny dogs are so attractive. The puppy producing machine does its best to make sure we only see the cute, sweet, healthy ones. They are sweet...there's no doubt about that, but the cruelty involved in the industry is horrifying. I just wish everyone who wants a dog would do their research and make an ethical choice. When the time is right Mareike, you will find another perfect furry partner in your local shelter. :)

To be clear Suzy, I don't think your maid was 'in' on the table going missing. I do think she misunderstood and put it outside as rubbish. I think the garbage man intended on retrieving it for himself some time later. "Fishy" only because he would absolutely not be allowed to do that (or he would have just put it in the truck and taken it). Like I said, I'm happy you've got it back.

Suzyduzy you live in D*O right? Well your maid has possibly sold your table base or possibly done a deal with someone as it is highly unlikely anyone would take it from outside the front of your house without asking and unless you paid D*O headquaters to move it they would not have taken it and the rubbish guys certainly would not take it, so your maid may not be telling you the whole truth. No one would take anything like this in D*O unless they had permission to (pretty sure of that). Can't give away rubbbish! Just because she's a maid doesn't mean she isn't cash savvy, some of these girls know how to spot a Dirham a mile away! Better invest in a safe for all your valuables sounds as if you have a shrewd maid. I agree with your DH i'd be docking her pay big time or demand she gets it back asap! PS: now the cameras are up you could always ask security to take a look at footage of the time it went. Edited to be more PC (not depress another poster) and throw another angle that others who do not live in this area would not be aware of, be grateful if those who quoted could change their posts, thank you. edited by Lolacat on 07/11/2011 Gosh...it's a year ago now, but we left things we no longer wanted or needed out the front of our DSO villa all the time and they were always gone within the hour.
