hi... my husband runs a small restaurant/cafeteria in sharjah but they only serve indian/chinese cuisine... if u'd like to stick with butter chicken & rice as ur 'british' meal let me know... they would easily be able to accommodate that for that budget and could also serve the items in cheffing dishes so that they stay warm during the meal... also... i must say... what a fab idea for a company to do these themed lunches! i wishhhh my office thought up of stuff like this!

try shoeciti and shoemart in Mall of the Emirates... saw some lightweight shoes there for school and it's easy on the wallet too... especially for lil kids they tend to outgrow their shoes so soon

after all the chaos over the past few years from Zaks to The Uniform Shop and then in-house our school has FINALLY got it right too! this year they opened up on time, had flexi hours for working parents and are fully stocked (with samples and actual items!!) ... the quality of the uniforms remains to be seen once we get a few months into the school year but at least they look perfect now! such a relief to be able to start the school year on a smooth note with the kids all ready and equipped!

I've not heard of or tried swimtime either... we are with M&S sports and are very happy with the way they've taught our kids... the girls have consistently improved and, more importantly, they have lots of fun at class so they actually look forward to attending... other popular swim academies seem to be Speedo, Active Sports and HamiltonAquatics

not sure of the rates... but have you thought of InSafeHands RTA service... they might be able to accommodate that... or is there a nursery just across your child's school that could offer babysitting service for those two hours? these are all options that people I know have used

Have you checked with families in your compound or neighbourhood to see if any of them go to school at the same place? If so, you could car pool. You can offer to do any one pick up and/or drop off in exchange... I am in the same situation but thankfully we have a family in our compound who we can car pool with Does the school in concern offer a sibling club... that might be the solution though I believe most sibling clubs would only start a couple of weeks into school

Hi... keeping in mind the time frame of your stay here (only another 3-5 years) I wouldn't advise on taking out a mortgage and buying... simply because your stay is fairly temporary Most people who have purchased property here are those that are looking at a more long term stay here or are those who have purchased as investment (and not particularly to sell when they leave)... We have property here too that we bought 8 years ago but we were quite sure that we would stay here for at least 10-15 years and now we're already 8 years into that... which justifies the 15 year mortgage we took out on the property...

are you looking to stay specifically in a hotel? coz if ur open to the idea of non-hotel accommodation, then a family friend of ours (British) runs a lovely farm stay in Chiang Mai called ThunDong you might want to check out... it's a total hit with the children as they have lots of live interaction with the animals... hi any experience with H hotel for wedding venue? it's the latest i've checked and so far the package is affordable for 150 pax, they even let me bring my own alcohol. offered 3 tier cake and a night stay. any advice? horizonmum1? :) hi there... i haven't done a wedding myself there but the venue has been gaining popularity! i know of a few couples who have had their wedding there and the feedback has been positive so far! cake, night's stay, dancefloor, basic stage floor, linen and valet parking is standard for most hotels the minute you hire the ballroom! :-) the fact that they let u bring alcohol from outside is a definite plus point!

The High Tea at the Farm is AED 210 per stand that can be shared by two... with one drink per person... They say it is to be shared by two but we had three to four people share one and just paid for the extra drinks... It was quite filling

well i think it depends on the amount of work involved... client of mine had her wedding dress stitched there recently and hers was mostly fabric and lace and it cost her around 2K... but if you wanted heavy embroidery on it then it might work out to be pricier... best to check directly with Nova (the head designer)... you might want to ping her soon as she's due to go on maternity break... I've not actually worked with any of the other designers there (if any!) so can't vouch for them per se... but Nova's work is fabulous... check her page... i love the flowy fabrics, the unique hues and very feminine designs she comes up with... Regal and Rivoli stores are available at most of the textile souq areas... so Meena Bazaar (in Bur Dubai) and Satwa

I saw those, I'm looking for the ones without letters that come in different shapes, this is the ones I got from toys r us, and I need more of the same ones http://www.amazon.com/Imaginarium-Wooden-Block-Set-75-Piece/dp/B005KBS4PM Imaginarium has its own store in BOX PARK Jumeirah... perhaps worth giving them a call and asking them if they stock it

if you already have a design in mind then most printing houses would be able to do the laser cutting for you and would be much cheaper alternative... ideally you should head to the wedding street in sharjah... where all the stage guys, card guys, etc are based and that would be cheaper than trying to source this in dubai

are you specifically looking for an outdoor property? if not then you can also consider Movenpick Oud Metha Dubai where I can get you the whole ballroom for the exact same rate... alternatively if you are ok with upping your budget to 190/200 per head then you can also consider outdoor venues at places like Desert Palm Per Aquum or the Ranches PoloClub all in Dubai... advantage is that at these places you can actually bring in the alcohol from other sources (such as Baracuda, etc.)...

I've attended one as a guest and it was quite a fiasco... the food and general service was not up to the mark of a five star property the couple had chosen an outdoor garden wedding overlooking the beach... it was in December (but latter half) and the weather was quite cold and windy... the hotel had to provide outdoor heaters but those were very unstable due to the winds and they had to eventually remove them as it was hazardous... then the sprinklers went off at some pre-scheduled time drenching the wedding band's equipment putting a halt to the music! accidents and poor weather conditions are always a risk (more so with an outdoor event) but as a wedding planner I can safely say that the key to resolving issues is in the level of responsiveness of the venue which that particular hotel did not really rise to on that occasion... maybe things have changed now... but i can't specifically comment on that as the wedding i attended there was a couple of years back.

thanks all ... it's sorted... supposedly the Samsung S5 screen is an expensive one to replace... nearly all the places (even the dodgy places in satwa and deira) were charging a minimum of 450 for the screen whereas for iphone they are only charging 200dhs... thankfully the phone is under warranty so i have sent it to the Carrefour after sales centre to see what they can do... supposedly if they cant fix it i'm entitled to a refund... let's see how that goes... they said it will take a minimum of two weeks... in the meantime i bought myself an htc cell phone for 399/-! what a downgrade!

I desperately need some more bras, but as I wear a GG cup I'm finding it so difficult. Debenhams in Ibn Battuta used to sell them but the last time I went I was told they no longer supply that size  try TKD ... the panache range goes upto a 42GG and then buy the same online... via shop&ship or postaplus, etc...

keeping in mind that you were considering a car as an option (assuming you have a substantial budget) how about one of the following: - a classic watch (like breitling, etc... prices start at around 15K I think) - a classic pen (Montegrappa or MontBlanc, etc.) - a holiday with his best mate? just some ideas

Sounds like something happened to him at the kennels. I would get hold of them and find out who did the daily cleaning, feeding and exercising etc. Sorry can't recommend anyone who can help . Thanks Nomad... i have already sent them an email... awaiting their response... Maybe it was someone who looked like her and he didn't like them so now doesn't like her? Wonder if there's anyone out there who can help change this... anyone else with any suggestions pls ping me as I'm getting really desperate!

my sweet loving dog who would never ever bark at anyone (other than other dogs) has suddenly developed absolute hatred towards my maid... he's been with us since January this year (we fostered him for a while and then decided to adopt him)... all this time we've had the same maid and he's never seemed to have an issue with her... two weeks ago before we went away on holidays we sent him off to a reputable kennel and upon our return had him sent back to us... however, he seems to have gone through some personality change... now for some reason he just barks, snaps, etc at our maid... not at anyone else (we have me, my hubby and my two kids at home and he behaves perfectly fine with us!) but with the maid he just goes beserk!! we tried getting her to give him some treats, milk, etc... but while he passively accepts these from her at the time ... a short while later would just freak out if she were walking down the stairs, or trying to go into the kitchen, etc. somebody help!! is there a dog psychologist or a dog whisperer out there who could help??? i want my loving dog backkkk!!

when I'm in no rush to buy the bras I often go and try out the different sizes at TKD / Debenhams / M&S but then purchase these online via different stores... for example, a Panache brand bra from TKD roughly costs around AED 280 at the store... but when purchased online I usually get the same for around AED 100 (including shipping via Postaplus). but there is a time lag of around 7-10 days before I actually receive the item so would only work if ur not in a rush to buy the same

Compared to home fuel is extremely cheap here It will be interesting to see how much it goes up by though Compared to home, education is much more expensive here. Compared to home, apples are ridiculously expensive here. Compared to home, for the same price I can rent a house with a garden I can only rent a 1BR apartment here. Compared to home... Useless comparison. Sorry. all this is sooo relative... yes education is more expensive here if u decide you want to study in a premium school... keeping that in mind though there are KHDA rated 'Outstanding' schools that have fees at AED 9,000 a year and those that are rated 'Outstanding' with fees of AED 75,000 a year! apples... hmmmm... yes they are ridiculously expensive here if u decide to buy the imported variety from the likes of Waitrose and Spinneys... but go to the fruit & veggie market in shindagha and get cheaper local alternatives! and yes housing is more expensive as well if u decide on renting in more expensive neighbourhoods... a 1BR in the Palm or Dxb Marina will cost u at least AED 100,000 a year whereas a 1BR in Deira or Ghusais would only cost u AED 40,000

She is not registered with Embassy. Did not know we had to do it. Once registered, will she be able to travel back from Nepal when she goes? Only asking as she is under 30 years old. Yes actually that step of the process is mandatory and it helps with the travel... she would also need a machine readable passport

on facebook try and look up this agency called SNIFF (Strays in Need of Forever Homes)... they are always looking out for people to foster/adopt their pets... we adopted our pet that way... we initially fostered him for a while to ensure that everyone in the family was well on board with the concept of having an additional responsibility and then once we were convinced, we went ahead and adopted him... all the best... the agencies or a vet will be able to estimate roughly what size the pup will grow up to be...

Your nephews' university should have a careers department which helps students find jobs and internships. There are also internship opportunities advertised on company websites and online recruiters. E.g. there seem to be quite a few on careerjet.ae. Good luck to your nephews and niece! unfortunately their universities only offer it to children in their final year of education... not for the earlier years they have already been looking online but i was hoping someone here would have a more credible opportunity
