For questions like these I really think the best person to talk to is other doctors - they all know each other and have opinions. Speak to your gyno, your GP, your Dermatologist etc - its amazing what they will tell you. From what I know Dr Khan is the boob man of Dubai. Dr Imran Tahir (hope I spelt that right) is the guy to go to for faces. Dr Diamond or Dr Marc Mani visit Dubai from LA - they are some of the leading facial plastic surgeons in the world. Especially Dr Diamond. They are very very expensive. However you can be assured that your surgery will be exceptionally well done. If you can afford it there is no question you should use Dr Diamond.

I don't go to sisters anymore either, they did eyelash extensions on me which were awful. Too heavy, and too long for my lashes which meant they were bending over and snapping - despite me asking for natural looking ones. It was so bad after spending 695dhs on them within 6 days I went to NBar to have them taken off. Its a shame they used to be good.

Fennel, Haloumi, and Pomegranite salad - thinly slice the fennel, serve it with crispy pan fried haloumi, fresh mint leave, and pomegranate seeds over a bed of rocket topped with a nice lemony vinegarette. Its so delicious.

Is there a sign up advertising it for sale? I would make a call to the sales agent involved if you could find her/his number and tell them that 1) A prospective house hunter is going to be wary of buying a house with these huge damas trees as they are known to cause root problems, and then 2) that no NOC will be issued for sale until these trees are removed. The sales agent might be able to convince the owner of the house that to get a good sale at a good price the trees should be removed. Houses are also selling super fast in AR, my neighbors house was sold in 4 days. I wish you luck, those trees are just a nuisance.

Claw is so much fun, the food (in my experience) has been so great - its not fine dining more like TeX Mex pub food - but its delicious. Its always packed, and there is always a great vibe. Watching people get thrown off the mechanical bull is hilarious and the drinks are amazing. Its a great night out - but there is no brunch or drinks package.

I love those two restaurants, so I think you will love this one, Stay at the One and Only Palm. Firstly go for a drink at the Jetty Bar at One and Only Royal Mirage. Then walk up the Jetty to catch the boat to the palm, arrive on the palm and be whisked off to the restaurant Stay on a golf cart. It is really an amazing restaurant (in my opinion just as good as Reflets just a bit more simple food wise - the decor is stunning). Have a lovely evening whatever you decide to do.

Give Dr Wassem a call, the office number is 04 330 7117, its on Al Wasel Road near Choithrams. He's a pediatric gastroenterologist (I hope that is spelt right!) and he's really good dealing with this type of situation. My youngest son had a very similar problem with vomiting every few weeks, it turned out he had Giardia and that was what was causing all these vomiting episodes. Here is a link to some info about Giardia http://www.medicinenet.com/giardia_lamblia/page2.htm I do remember him saying - this is a while ago so it may not be right but very young kids allergy tests are not reliable as kids can grow out of these issues. If I was you I would probably see both Dr Loubster and Dr Wassim I think they would be the best people to see in Dubai.

I used one once last year (I think it was perfect maid - something like that). It gave me lots of options but none I was interested in and a lot of the information was out of date - so girls had either left the country or been employeed already. My top 5 prospects once I got the contact details were all already employeed. A lot of the maids also had very unrealistic salary expectations.

Zaza, You can open a bank account. Try Emirates NBD, you def do not need anything from your husband. I think only you can know how reasonable your husband would be. I know if it was my husband he would want the kids to be kept in our house, be looked after and me looked after too - you are the mother of his children and nothing can change that. How much does he love his kids? Is he an involved parent or do you do most of the parenting? (because some dads I have heard of don't really care too much), do you think realistically he will fight for custody? It is possible to have an amicable divorce, it is possible to co-parent and do it well here in Dubai - good friends of mine are proof of this. It is possible to have a fair settlement in Dubai. What do you think your husband will want? Best of luck, I am so sorry you are going through this. Edited to add: No its not true you can only divorce in the country you are living in. If he's going the amicable route than you can choose to have the divorce done in the UK or wherever you got married. <em>edited by Ilovechoos on 24/08/2013</em>

Did the dress code say "Smart Casual" or "Smart business suits"? There is a big difference. I would your first week wear the smart business suits, planning to leave the jacket off and just wear the trousers with a nice blouse, or skirt with a knit top - something like that till you can see what the other TA's are wearing and adapt your attire to suit. Its far better to be over dressed than underdressed. Good Luck.

Honey72, I think I have used that same company.. I paid 4000Dhs, gave them a clear brief with exact specifications as to what I wanted and a budget. The design came back - I thought it was for someone else it was so far away from what I wanted, and then the price was more than 3 times my budget. I asked for a revision, it was so slow to come and even then it was not even close to being right. I understand having to charge for designs, its a lot of work but to not even try and meet my brief was frustrating. Obviously I ended up using another company. I hope you can get your money back!

Ok and if you want to know more about being a Hipster here are some definitions which I thought funny: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=hipster My personal favorite being.... "One who possesses tastes, social attitudes, and opinions deemed cool by the cool. (Note: it is no longer recommended that one use the term "cool"; a Hipster would instead say "deck.") The Hipster walks among the masses in daily life but is not a part of them and shuns or reduces to kitsch anything held dear by the mainstream. A Hipster ideally possesses no more than 2% body fat. " I am obviously not a Hipster if I have to google it! LOL.

I agree with not using Pull Ups, just go for it as Asti says...... but 2 weeks in China that is fairly exceptional circumstances. I think if it was me I would put nappys back on full time and after your China trip and once all the jet lag has gone away then start toilet training from scratch. Traveling in a foreign country with a toddler can be pretty stressful, don't add to your worries by worrying about finding toilets and cleaning up accidents. He may even take to toilet training quicker as he will be a few months older.

I doubt education in Singapore would be "much more expensive" than in Dubai. Tanglin School (British) which is the one I have most experience with is 78,000Dhs pa for a 4 year old child. I think the new Foremark school is around this price but for me 78k pa is quite a bit more than most schools in Dubai. The American School of Singapore is around 90,000Dhs for KG, I think that is much more than ASD or DAA. Obviously there are much cheaper schools in Singapore, like there are here in Dubai. Its up to an individual as to where they send their children. But if you moved from American School of Singapore to American School of Dubai I think it will be cheaper. LB101- To answer your question about bikes, yes you can ride bikes - some places are too dangerous but once you are here you will see its are really outdoor/sporty place. There is stand up paddle boarding, outdoor yoga, mountain biking groups, cycling tracks, tennis, running tracks, sailing, and lots of other fun things to do. <em>edited by Ilovechoos on 12/08/2013</em>

I love both Singpore and Dubai, I have not lived in Singapore but I visit frequently. For me Dubai is preferred only because I find Singpores humidity and weather quite difficult for long periods of time. Dubai is awful 3-4 months of the year but the rest of the time the weather is pretty great. Apartments in Singapore from what I found are very small and expensive compared to Dubai. Schools are also from what I understand a lot more expensive in Singapore than in Dubai. Don't be put off Dubai just because of traffic and a bit of chaos, its a great place to live and I think a lovely place to bring up kids. If you have a child, or if you work its quite easy to meet people and have a social life. Have you visited Dubai before?

I think some people have nothing better to do than get on that high horse! ShellAR - This is not exactly what you are looking for but this is available http://www.thegreenecostore.com/products/prd-details.php?prdvarid=10443 At the Green Eco Store - this is devliered but they also have a small kiosk in Mercato which might be able to help. They are neoprene like wetsuit material and keep things cool. You could maybe stack the cans ontop of each other?

If the 2 cans involve alcohol then I am sure you are aware this is illegal even if you have an alcohol permit (read the terms and conditions). I don't care one way or the other, but you and your DH and his mates should be aware that consuming alcohol in a public place = the desert = is illegal and if reported, a big problem. Finding a small tin carrying bag isn't an issue they're available nearly everywhere, drinking in public illegally is - sorry but this seems a wind up Why would you even think it was for alcohol? Its not like she's saying I need a wine cooler, or a hip flask - and its for a walk in the desert in July - nobody in their right mind would consume alcohol whilst walking in the desert in July. ShellAR I hope your husband has a lovely birthday. For the small cool bag have a look at Adventure HQ or Carrefour.

Dubai is fabulous for this type of thing, so many restaurants do this. Lime Tree has a great canapé menu if you wanted to keep it a bit more casual. Maria Bonita could whip you up a Mexican feast. Chez Sushi you could order dozens of different sushi and have it delivered. Al Arrab for Arab food - also check Burj Al Haman which is in a few places - amazing lebanese food. Sumo Sushi is good too. Noodle House you could have loads of starters then a few green currys and pad thais. Rossovivo you could just order amazing pizzas. Curry Box - do the whole onion bhaji, samosa entrees and then an assortment of currys and naan.

She was looking for a job ideally in admin but having been messed around by another company is needing to find something sooner before her visa expires. She's really great! Ok first sort out your maids visa, go to Satwa and organize to bring her back on a visit visa - it will cost about 1200Dhs for the visa and it can be done in 2 days - you will have to leave a security deposit, which will be returned when the visa is cancelled. Bring her back and you have 60 days to get her employment visa organized. Get her out of kish asap - its a really terrible place and those girls have to do awful things to survive if they have no money - also that way you can still work.

Believe 2012, Deposit for visit visa at Kasri is 6500Dhs which is refunded - cost is around 1800 for 1 month, or 2800 for 60 days. This excludes airfares and bringing her from Manila. Al Lujian I think is around 4000Dhs for visa related costs and then another approx 2000Dhs for flights - that is ontop of the visa costs. If you can wait the 3 weeks it takes to get her from Manila I would use the agent to bring her direct from Manila - its a little more expensive but so much easier.

I agree with Splinters, hire the maid get her on your visa and send her home - telling her its her vacation in advance. You have to pay her obviously, but that way her annual holidays are out of the way, you can feel comfortable with not having someone in your house, and once your back from holidays you have a lovely happy maid to help you.

There are a few ways of bringing a maid in: The agency is actually quite a good one, she comes in on an employment visa and its done! no running around to different places and its no trouble for you. You pay for the convenience. You can send her via another country, like tell her to go to a travel agent in Manila and book a tour to Singapore. From Singapore she can then get a flight to DXB. You must buy return tickets each way. To get her a visit visa you can go to Kasri Travel in Satwa and they can do it for you (even if she has no family in Dubai) - you will have to leave a deposit for the visa which you will get back once she's left the country or changed visa status. Or you can get her cousin to apply for her - but just reading that she's unemployed might be a problem. Any of these options is expensive. I would prefer to use the agent however Al Lujain is pretty good I used them for my last maid and they got her visa in 3 weeks. Edited to add: I think the major issue is even if you have a visit visa getting a philapina out of Manila is really tricky - that is why you need to get them to another country. <em>edited by Ilovechoos on 29/05/2013</em>
