For a good fesenjoon, you need walnuts to be grinded very, very finely. You might need a new food processor. I have been using my braun for 7 years now and it is still going strong. P.S. if you like Persian recipes with walnuts and would like some more. I have a couple of lovely ones from the north of Iran. Let me know if you would like them.

Many women I know, including myself, raised families, worked part time with no home help and still managed to have time for themselves and their DHs. I think it is a matter of balance. I sold makeup on a party plan basis, sang in a choir and ran a Guide Company when my DD was months old. The best advice I had from my mum was "you are still you and need time out in order to be the best mum you can be" DH was at home the 2/3 nights a week that I had my me time. My children grew up confident and secure and happily stayed with grandparents and friends overnight if DH and I wanted a short break or were attending a ball or whatever. Too many people I know either devoted themselves to their children entirely and are now distraught as their offspring have flown the nest or kept their kids so close and protected that as soon as they were old enough, they were off, much to their parents' shock. Motherhood is indeed hard work but even busy mums need space to breathe so take every opportunity to do so. :) True JoyceB. But in your day and age, brining up children was a bit easier. I won't say I am sure, but I doubt you drove around the city from activity to activity. I clock 700kms a week. Sometimes I have 5 school runs in one day, my mum didn't do any of this but many mums today, do. edited by Irooni on 14/10/2012 edited by Irooni on 14/10/2012 I wasn't being critical but find it funny that you think that bringing up kids in "my day" was easier! Nearly choked on my wine over that one LOL! You're right, I didn't drive around any city as I didn't have a car back in the "dark ages" so had to use trains and buses or walk my kids to their various activities and back again, round trips of several miles on some occasions! I am soooo sorrrry Joyce!:( I didn't mean to offend you at all. I am kicking myself for saying that now. I really did not mean to make an assumption, its just a observation that was in my mind judging from your posts over the years. I think I have read that. You are from Scotland and that your children are adults. I just said what I did based on that. I am 34 and grew up in Dubai and never had many after school activities that my parents took me to; neither did any of the people I knew in or out of Dubai. So I guess it is safe to say that I assumed yours didn't either. I truly apologise for assuming. Hope, you will forgive me xx

They finish at 240pm and 345 when they have activities. I leave a bit early to make sure I get parking and leave time for running late! They never have activities on the same day so I have to get one until the ther finishes.

700Kms wow Irooni. Mine are on the bus, so I have 8 hours a day to myself when they are at school, after a couple hours cleaning I am free as a bird. If they go to after school activities then they come home on a later bus. The only time I am really really busy is when guests come. Oh lucky you, alismum! I get from 8 to 130, and there is I much that needs to be done that, I can barely call it time to myself!

I had have had 2 incidents of the sort in the past 6 years. Once was a spelling mistake and the other time a mathematical mistake. Both times, I wrote to the teacher and expressed my concern. Spelling mistakes and typos in a school environment, are not acceptable in my book.

The worst part is that they are still continuing their bullying and hating. Her facebooks memorial pages are filled with hate messages. Such a waste of young life:( I have just read some of the posts on Facebook. These abhorrent, repugnant, sickening comments... Well I'm at a loss for words. What has happened to humanity? I read a couple of the comments and promised myslef, I will not look at any of her pages again. I am too faint hearted for things of the sort:( the poor child took her own life, let her rest in peace:(

Are they really needed in winter here? or can one do without? I have a couple of heaters for sale, if you need one. It could get quite cold for children at night, the numerous windows and uncovered floors, don't help.

Spot on Irooni you have hit the nail on the head. My Granny always used to say ' when you have passed on do you think they will put on your gravestone here lies a mother who had the perfect home and slaved away '. ;) edited by Nomad on 12/10/2012 Haha nomad reminds me of the things my MIL says. She says things like, "hearing, oh well done, superwoman! Won't make wrinkles disappear!" Or "when you are at a gathering with your husband, no one will come to to spot check your perfect home, they will see how good you look!;)" ohhhh I wish I could listen to her;)

Right now I'm sat on the couch "chilling" after having sent the children with DH on a desert picnic. I could have gone with them, but I chose to stay at home , on my own, in my pyjamas. There's plenty for me to do around the house...but for now I'm enjoying the peace and quiet ;) I try to take an hour out each day for myself, whether it's going for a walk, reading a book or watching telly. We all deserve it :) Oh enjoy coco pops!:) I would kill for a day like that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emirati_people We are in the EmIrates right? Oh well, I have never seen it spelled either way... so I take my joke back ;) I just wrote it phonetically, cause that is what the people of the UAE call themselves. Anon can verify that:) but I understand your point;) don't take your joke back!:)

I am looking for a doctor for my 14 month old girl who is not even attempting to walk or stand yet. She just scoots around the house, never crawled either. Worried now. I want referral from someone who had similar issue. I also hope to find doctor that won't make us come back over and over just to do excercises that we could do at home to take us for more money. Thanks for your help! 14 months is the average age. There is nothing to worry about. She will walk when she is ready.
