Not really a faff to Iranians, as Iranian good rice test is to flick a fork about in a the plate of rice and for every grain to stand separately! :) The method you have mentioned is the "kateh" (which is even tastier) but its very easy for someone without experience to get it wrong, and it could come out all stuck together and mushy. Don't get me started on tahdig, I would kill for some just now :D

I have always been pleased with them. Their customer service on the phone is superb ( they can actually speak and understand English, without you having to S LO W D O W N) and their pizzas are lovely. Today I placed an order online, paid with a credit card and asked for it to be delivered at 8. They rang the bell at 8!!!!! I am sooooo impressed. Had to share :) edited by Irooni on 10/10/2013 Maybe that's because many of them ARE English !! lol I know :) I just didn't want to say that out loud to cause a stir :D

Reading all the positive feedback, I'm wondering... What is your favourite NKD pizza? Might give them a try (again, first experience wasn't positive). I do a custom made one with our own choice of toppings.

The best way to make P E R F E C T rice is the Iranian way. Basmati or Sella rice is the best for it, but you can use Thai Jasmine rice as well, depending on how proficient you are. Its late and I am too lazy to type all the steps out. So here is a video. Make sure you wash the rice until the water runs completely clear and it has to be soaked with some salt at least 2 hours before you start cooking. The video show a "tahdig" (crust) with potatoes, but you can skip that if you like and I have no idea what is sprinkled at the bottom of the pot before that ( in this video that is) Also the saffron is optional. Try this method it is harder and not the easiest from all methods but well worth it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hHzsNh8HmI

I can live with a short walk! Amazing how lazy some people are here - cant bear to walk a few yards and would prefer to park badly and put kids in danger instead. Anyone come from as far as Umm SUqeim to DESS? I park in the hospital car park and it's not a long walk at all. Kids come from as far as The Lakes and Springs. If you go on SZR and take the Maktoum Bridge turn off and right on to Oud Metha Rd you miss all the bad traffic. Which hospital? American?

In my experience the only place open before 10 in Dubai, is union co op at 7 and Carrefour at 9. Everywhere else is 10! So annoying :) Hope you can find one.

I really urge, all non Iranian to stay away from FESENJAN or FESENJOON, it really isn't the best dish you can try. It is definitely an acquired taste and not something you can just try for the first time as an adult and enjoy! ;) It is not even a favourite among most Iranians, including moi! On the other hand, my children love it :)

Haha funny you should say that, cause "midnight feast" is a coined term in our household. It is our Thursday nights when the children can have crisps, haribos, sweeties and other rubbish of the sort, without a bedtime! That's why they call it midnight feast ;) Although they never make it to midnight :)

Always thought supper was a late night snack after the actual evening meal. And thought dinner was the day's biggest meal not the evening meal hence "school dinners". Growing up in Dubai mostly amongst Brits and Indians, always heard tea from the Brits and dinner from Indians. Until I moved to Canada, there, it is always dinner. These days at home, the children are more familiar with tea, because that is what their friends and teachers and the environment they are in use most. Tonight, I made a meatballs, mashed potatoes with some green vegetables on the side. Took the easy way out as the husband is away :)

Sometimes just changing the antihistamine can work. Change to Zyrtec, it works wonders for my children's night cough. Also get on the wait list to see Dr. Loubser, he is a fantastic allergist.

There is quite a debate going on in the UK at the moment about the niqab (face veil) with some pressure to ban it completely or just in public buildings (I think some would like to ban the hijab too). I have been very vocal on Twitter about the state having no role in defining what women should wear and that includes the niqab. Using the same logic I don't think schools should be doing so either. Obviously if I had my way I would totally mandate age / size appropriate clothing at all times. Come to our school, one afternoon, coffee on me and you will completely change your mind. You will see things you have yet to see! Shortest daisy dukes with the highest heels. Yoga tights with tops showing the midriff. Tube tops with breasts about to fall out. Blouses with V backs all the way down to the waist with the bra in full view. I could go on!! [b'>And you should see what the women wear !! lol[/b'> If they don't regulate it, there is no telling how some parents will dress for school. It doesn't matter if it is an Islamic country or not, it is a school and such attire is just not appropriate. Lost! ? edited by Irooni on 25/09/2013

The one and only Sarah Booth. I have seen many children whom she has worked with and they all had incredible results. The difference between them in September and June, clearly noticable.

Thank you all for your replies. I was leaning more towards le creuset, but after some reasearch on some cookware forums (yes, they exist ;)I have decided Staub. Mainly because of the darker interior, moisture locking lids and heavier make all together.

I clearly remember a post from msrb, saying her daughter does all her homework or any school based work with the tutor. She said she beleives in having quality time with her daughter and would rather someone else does her school work with her (also remember SMonkey objecting to this ). So if you include homework in that time slot as well, then perhaps, it is not overload. (mrsb my apologies if my memory is not serving me right)
