DS hasn't had a cut in months! His hair is a bit longish with big curls now. I would like to maintain his hairstyle but make it shorter to school standards. I don't want to go just anywhere, where they will just take the machine and go at it! Looking for a barber to just trim and tame his curls :) Any recommendations? edited by Irooni on 28/08/2013

If you like them who cares what other people think? If your feet need the support, get them, those flip flops really don't give proper support. FIT flops have amazing support.

Who cares what they look like! Walking in comfort is much more important. Emlsre, how do they compare to fit flops? edited by Irooni on 08/08/2013

Does this mean that there will only be end of term holidays? Will the British schools still have half term holidays?

Pottery barn, pottery barn, pottery ban. I bought 2 mini ones nd use them as lunch bags. They were washed in the machine (spinned at 1400rpms!) over 40 times in 10 months and they will look brand new! Not a hint of colour fading or stitching coming loose.

LOVE that she was wearing polka dots. Just like Lady Di was when she left the hospital with Prince William....or shall I say that Duke. Sigh* I picture the baby's name to be Evan for some reason. The polka dot dress also accentuated her new mum tummy, and she had her hands clasped underneath as if to emphasise it. She didnt seem to care which is great but also could be to squash any busybodies from insinuating where such a big boy came from? as her bump has always been tidy, and nobody saw her in public in the last month of pregnancy, nor as she made a dash into the hospital. She may have wanted to make a last stand to underline the heir was carried/birthed by her and not by a surrogate, any crazy accusation is possible in twitterland and many celebs have had to face this accusation recently. Just speculation of course but could it be possible? Never can say... Don't worry - David Cameron was there to witness the birth :-P as tradition has it! I don't know if you are joking or being serious, but I am positive that this did not happen. The news (BBC not DM ;) ) said that this tradition is no longer practiced. edited by Irooni on 25/07/2013

They weren't available in UK until about 28 years ago, so neither of my children nor William or Kate had them..........just saying. Honestly, they are a marvellous and welcome invention, but some people do get carried away What do they think, that the little darling aged 36 hours is going to unbuckle himself and seize the throne from Grannie? Haha love it! :) All this talk about names and "spencer", reminds me we have a little boy on our street by the name of Mark Spencer, don't know his surname but those are his first and middle names! My children are quite mean about it! Behind his back that is :) I am sorry but the parents should have known better!

Lovely idea as one of his names, but unfortunately it won't be allowed as his first name. I understand that the Queen has to approve the name but why is it not allowed? Because it was Lady Di's surname or is it something else ? Thanks

I think Spencer would be a nice name That would be a sweet tribute to Lady Di! Hope they go with that! Sweet and nice yes, but surely not very King-ish :)

I am sure you speak just fine and no, it is not that bad. It is just not on par with a teacher who teaches English. I am sure the majority of English teachers cannot write half of what you wrote in French :) So it's great :)

Don´t worry if you don´t accept her friend request, because TEACHER is responsible for your DD, not TA. I am a teacher, and my children are having the same treatment and care, and my assistants are performing things that I have planned. All of the children are at my sight 95% percent of the working hours (those 5% are in the washroom, and I am 3 meters away, so if anything happen, I can hear or notice) In the end of the day, teacher is having all responsibility, and TA are just helping. I am having great assistants, who are performing their job excellent and are very dedicated, but I wouldn´t like if they were sending requests to the parents, because that doesn´t make any sense. Avoid any kind of sharing your contact or personal information with any of the staff, because I read some bad experiences here (asking for money, etc...) I sincerely hope that you don't teach at an English medium school! edited by Irooni on 04/07/2013

Hi MrsCanuck. If I find out the price until then, and it's cheaper here. I would like to send some pills for my mother in law. It's only fasomax plus d for osteoporosis. Would you be able to take them for me? I could post them but don't know if it is ok to do so or not, with post regulations. Forgive me for being cheeky and asking. Thanks

Last month I had birthday parties for DS and DD at home, both cost under 1500dhs. My daughter had 7 girls over and my son had 12 boys. My daughter's was a sleepover theme and my son's was a trash pack party. I made their cakes; as last year i paid 800dhs for their cakes and they were just picture perfect and no one touched them. The children all had a fantastic time. I wanted to rent a water slide for the boys as they are filled with energy but wherever I called, I was quoted over 2800dhs for just a slide! No way would I pay that much money for a birthday, I would donate it to a family who hasn't had meat in their meals in months. I have had a birthday for my son in favourite things and a joint one for both my son and daughter in cafe ceramic. The children always had a better time at home. If you have the cash to splash to have ballroom birthdays and limo ups, fine. But! If you do those now, how are you going to top that for their 16th or 18th or 13th or even 10th birthday parties, to make it special? edited by Irooni on 02/07/2013 Have you watched my sweet sixteen on TV? ;-) No, haven't heard of it :) what is it like? Does Madonna perform at their parties? ;)

Quinn10: don't be so quick to judge. My husband and I have both battled with weight all our lives, so I am very, very strict with what my children eat. My son had this that my cousin's house 7 months ago and has been asking for it since! He has nagged and even cried but I have not given in. di@DXB: what is the brand of the coconut oil you use? Does it not change the flavour of the food? Daza: my son is 7 too. The peanut butter from the organic shop sounds like what I am looking for. Thanks LovelyLilies: I thought grapeseed oil cannot be heated beyond a certain temperature. Maybe I am mistaken. Thanks for the other ideas, they are all great! :) Ladybirdsarethebest: I must really make a trip to the organic shop. Thanks :)

Wow it is illegal??? That is crazy everyone I know spanks their kids. I use a paddle or whatever is handy with my older son (dont like to use my hand) and with the younger I just pop his hand. With the young one I usually only do it if I've repeatedly told him no and turned him to something else or if it is something dangerous and I need to get the point across right away. With the older I do it when I've repeatedly told him no and that if he does it again he will get a spanking that is usually after trying time out and its not meant to hurt either of them it is more to get their attention. I'm not saying spanking is my first go to thing but I definitely do it when I think I need to. Not to say any of what I do works every time all the time. And I don't think that something that works for one child will necessarily be the same for the other. You just have to try your best and patient. Especially with a 14 month old. I wish there was some miracle book because I could definitely use it :) You are soooo cute for being soooo honest :) xx

Clothes and toys on SALE will be cheaper, that's it! Is there a "real Canadian superstore" there? Their groceries will be cheapest. for everything else there is Walmart! :) what you might need to do to get the best deal is to check all the flyers, make note of what's on sale and go to different supermarkets for different items. Thank you all. Some great replies :) kiwi, I am looking for healthier alternatives for my children not after much needed weight loss for me :) for the sausages by a 100% meat, I don't mean no spices or herbs. I just don't want crushed up carcasses! I want the meaty part to be real meat :) edited by Irooni on 23/06/2013
