Thanks again - the Widad Centre sounds fantastic - i have just googled it & will be contacting them for some more info. I've found the Oasis school website & again that looks great too.
I will try & find out a bit more about the internal transfer cut off point as i do think this will help massively in getting the places we want rather than having to take places we don't really want as they are the only ones available. We can be flexible on when we move - my husband has been working in Dubai for a year now but has only just secured a family package so a few more months apart wouldn't be a disaster if it meant getting the places we wanted.
Hi
Many thanks for both your helpful comments. They are currently in Years 7, 4, 2 & 1 so i am looking for both primary & secondary places. I'm finding the Year 1 place the most problematic at the moment! Ideally i would like them all at the same school but with such varying needs, i realise this may not be possible but would at least like them all in the same vacinity for logistical reasons.
My special needs child is around 20 months behind academically but has only been getting extra help at school since the start of this school year as we only got her formal diagnosis in September. The school she is at in the UK has been pretty poor at providing any support for her so i am set on finding the right school for her in Dubai - i am sure she will then come on leaps & bounds with the right help.
I have looked at all the school inspection reports & have made the 'outstanding' schools my focus but most are full & won't even consider allowing us to go on the waiting list! My eldest is very bright so needs an excellent academic school whereas my autistic child needs a more nuturing environment i feel where their focus isn't purely academic.
Horizon school is an option but i don't know too much about it. GEMS Wellington Silicon Oasis is also available to all 4 of them but it is a bit further out of town than i would like. Repton & Kings are also a possiblilty.
JPS sounds fantastic so i will contact them as does the new Academy of Excellence mentioned.
If we go on waiting lists, does it mean that in January we would automatically go to the top of the list as overseas applicants? Also if i find spaces for 3 of them to start in January for example, is the other child legally required to attend school or could they stay home until the right place arises?
Thanks again for all your help
