Its super for the kids, they love it...and its indoors so no worries that it would be too much. A bit far off but if you have a car then its ok. Dont go by taxi as getting a taxi back is next to impossible.

There is no adult charge just a supervision charge (no extra ticket has to be paid for). That if I am not mistaken is another service altogether. ok found it: Tariffs and charges With Lufthansa Air fare The air fare for children up to 12 years of age is determined by the rules of the tariffs which apply. For exact information on prices please contact the Lufthansa Service Centre, your local Lufthansa Airport Ticket Team or your travel agent. Supervision charges In addition to the air fare, supervision charges apply per flight section: Charge in Euros Charge in USD W here applies EUR 40 or USD 60 flight within Germany or within Europe EUR 80 or USD 120 Intercontinental flight Examples of calculation of the charges Flight from Vienna via Munich to New York EUR 40 / USD 60 (for the flight within Europe) + EUR 80 / USD 120 (for the intercontinental flight) = EUR 120 / USD 180. Flight from Delhi via Frankfurt to New York EUR 80 / USD 120 (for 1. intercontinental flight) + EUR 80 / USD 120 (for 2. intercontinental flight) = EUR 160 / USD 240 or just go to http://www.lufthansa.com/uk/en/Unaccompanied-minors#ancAbT9 they even have a FAQ edited by janatks on 02/06/2013

Sharjah is not a bad place to live and is relatively cheap compared to Dubai. We live in a 2 bed apartment and pay 32000 a year and its a rather nice one. A One bed would cost a lot less. Schools are also not that expensive. Part time jbs are also not that elusive. How about a job in a school. The hours are shorter and one could also get a rebate on the fees. That way you have time to study in the afternoons/night.

OP, I have been thinking about what I wrote an how inarticulate it was, so I'm happy to return and see it was heard as it was meant to be. What I am about to say goes for you and any woman. We have choices. The democracy and freedom of speech in Islam, for example, exists in what the Prophet (PBUH) did not give us direction on. If you cannot find your answer in Quran or Hadith - there is your freedom. There is a choice. You can chose to be the victim or you can chose to be a stronger, greater person. A victim is not the woman who stays and takes it, a strong woman is not always a woman who walks away. Sometimes a victim leaves then remains a victim for life. Some brave women stay and build a strong home and family and, most importantly, a strong leader, all be it a silent leader. If your husband paints a picture you do not like, leave him alone with his paint brush and begin to paint your own. You may want to invite him in one day. And I is easier to do that when you have remained his wife not his enemy, and have built your own world with its own rules and he sees that and asks to come in himself. You are a kind woman, good hearted and strong. I can see this from your post. Listen to the song Fighter by Christina Aguilera, I is about how another can make you strong. Victim vs champion. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly! Inshaallah life will bring you everything you deserve! LOVE! can I quote you to a friend....she really needs this and you are very articulate

Hi. I have a 2 year old son who started school when he was 1.5 yrs. I speak Farsi at home and my husband speaks Arabic with our son. My husband and I switch between Farsi and English amongst ourselves. We have never spoken to our son in English. I had a parent teacher meeting with my sons teacher who was shocked to hear we don't speak English at home as all he ever spoke in school during the second term) was English. And I was equally shocked to find out he can actually SPEAK English as I had never tested him. Children pick up languages so quickly you would be surprised. I would say stick to you native languages as those are the ones that your little one would have trouble learning. Whereas English will become his first language in school soon enough. agreed/like

My kids are growing up tri-lingual i.e. English, Urdu and German. Now throw in the mix of Arabic and French which they learn in school and we have a fruit salad. The older ones a'rnt too keen on German right now but I think once they are in Austria visiting their Oma and cousins they should get into the groove. Dont worry about English, its the most common here and kids pick these things up very quickly.

I had it last year...was the worst thing that could happen. Extremely painful, itchy and high fever. took 3 weeks to heal...would not wish it on my worst enemy. My maid from Sri Lanka made me a paste of Neem leaves ( can be found all over the UAE) its the only thing the soothed me long term. Even calamine lotion did not help. I would sleep at night a bed of leaves. My daughter also had it and I would boil a handful of leaves which I would pour in the tub and let them play in it. They were done in 3-4 days.

never heard of it...seems there's always something to panic over these days !! lol Because this virus is new, not much is known about it. There is very limited information on how the infections might be transmitted. The virus may have an animal origin as investigations have shown it is closely related to a virus found in bats. This suggests that it may have been transmitted from an animal to humans In humans, these viruses cause respiratory illness ranging from the common cold to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). They spread from one person to another through infected respiratory droplets. The sick person expels these when they cough, sneeze, or talk. Others can get the disease via contact with these contaminated droplets.

Please stop panic-mongering. There is nothing you can do about it, short of leaving the country. Actually there is something you can do about it to keep yourself and your family safe: - Wash your hands frequently - Use hand sanitizing disinfectant regularly, especially after travelling in public areas - Avoid touching your face - Keep some distance from people who are coughing, sneezing or appear sick - Avoid unnecessary direct contact with live animals - Observe the usual hygiene precautions when preparing, handling or consuming food and drink

Add the fact that his English is not as good as he makes it out to be so,,, this is his way of covering it up. He is not a bad guy but yes, he is getting to be incredibly expensive. The other coventry belongs to his son who he trained (tho they dont speak anymore)

You are doing exactly what the world you were born into has dictated you do. Anyone who says 'pack up and leave', 'be a single mother', etc may have come from a country where women are afforded these rights by legislation. Your story breaks my heart an infuriates me on your behalf. I agree that you should use your DH as an ATM. When in doubt or when you do not know what to do, do nothing. If you can channel all of your love into your baby and stop channeling it to him that could be a start. The 'romance' of marriage, as I said in a deleted thread earlier, was created by Walt Disney to sell books because women love love. Spend more time on yourself, not him. Do what you do around the house, then in your spare time play with your baby, watch tv, study something online... Basically, invest in yourself. Leave your husband there, it is a transaction. Don't fight with him about these women, pity him and use that pity to put yourself above him. You need friends, though. That will help. Mothers groups will be great. Your child will be here soon to change your life. I wish your country afforded you the protection that I could say go back and show him you are serious that the women/drinking needs stop, or you won't return to him, butt as it does not this is the best advice I can give. Emotionally divorce him and marry (fall in love with) yourself. LOVE the advise....

I am so so sad for you Lynett84. But now you have to strong for your child. You have to try and get away. There are many who would happily help you rebuild you life. You just need to reach out to them and build your resolve. If however, you feel you cannot then it is time to take your life in your hands. Stop depending on your husband. Go out, meet people, get a job if possible, network, give yourself and your child priority. Build a life of your own even if you choose to stay in this marriage. You may find that your husband may become more amicable to you if you live your life and dont involve him. Something like a room mate. Dont need him. If its comes to that, he should need you. Be his friend....you might be surprised that he may look at you differently then and life could settle down into a calmer partnership. Find a friend if you can who you can go out with, tell your secrets to etc. If you need an older person to talk to I would be happy to be your sounding board ( I am also Pakistani so would probably understand where you are culturally coming from) my ctc is gazideusathotmaildotcom and we can arrange a meeting if u like I would love to talk to you.. Hi Alain girl, I recently heard about a company that does a new treatment for pest control that gets rid of all bugs by heating your house/apt up to a very high temperature then all bugs and eggs die. It is also environmentally friendly because there are no chemicals involved. I'm sorry I don't have the name but maybe you can google it... it seemed very effective! I read about it too in 7 days. I think the company was called Rent-o-kill.....

Outspan, I think you need to treat the taxi drivers as you would treat anyone else. I also chat with them sometimes, they work long hours, are away from their families and have to put up with a lot of abuse throughout their shift. I don't think it's a bad thing to treat them like fellow human beings and have a simple conversation. BUT, being asked personal questions about your husband is just wrong (as it would be in any other situation). I have never came across this but would definitely tell the driver it was none of his business, to keep driving and not entertain any further chat. Like every walk of life, some are good, some are bad. I don't think you can say that all taxi drivers are the same. Hear Hear!

Thanks, Janatks. The weekly list is 'fluid' and can change depending on what skills need to be acquired. They are 9 and 11 and currently have on their weekly lists: 1. Get up on time with an alarm clock, bed made, room tidy and down stairs by X o'clock. 2. Use only positive language with family members. 3. Laundry-folding, sorting, putting away. 4. Garbage/recycling. 5. Do homework daily without any attitude or arguing. 6. Set/Clear Table- condiments, wipe table, clear into dishwasher. 7. Email grandparents/friend/cousins. 8. Feed pets. 9. Practice instruments. Our extra list which can be done for extra...or to earn a privilege include: unload dishwasher, wipe kitchen cabinets, clean bathrooms(no maid in this household), iron, hang laundry on line, sweep, vacuum, cook meals, mop floors, clean out the fridge, weed flower beds(no gardener either), mow grass, polish shoes, and wash cars. Of course, they never do every single thing on their list, and so they earn less that week. It isn't a huge amount of money, either but I want them to see on a small scale how earning works and also learn life skills that they will need once they leave home...but I don't want to even think about that yet! Super thank you! it is a roadmap for to start. My 6 year old loved the idea when I told her about it last night. My 9 year old not so much ....lol but I really want to do this so I hope it works :o)

You cannot be polite with a taxi driver. Where they come from, a woman out alone is a loose woman......end of, oh and in their opinion your DH does not care about your welfare. I am a bit shocked. Not be polite to a taxi driver???? why because they are dirty menials from third world countries???? Yes, where they come from is different but that does not mean one should treat them badly/rudely/without respect. Maybe a few in those thousands have got the wrong impression about western women but then with all the tum tum about the western couple in the back of taxi it can be expectd from people who may not be as worldly as you. You can be firm and let him know you dont want interaction.

Johjoh, I think you will need to tweak any ideas you get to suit your family. My sons 'earn' their pocket money with chores. They have a set list for each week and there is a suggested list of ways to earn more, if they want. On their list, there is a headline that states something to the effect of sometimes having to pitch in and help without financial reward...because they are part of a family. They also have an accounting book that they write down what they have received, so they can see it add up. They have to account for any money in or out. Once we did that, we dramatically decreased the amount of candy and apps that were purchased! Just my little attempt to raise financially aware young'uns. What a brilliant idea! I dont suppose you would like to post your list..... :)

I am not sure, but if you can prove to them that she does not have anywhere else to go i.e. you have no siblings or they are unable to care for her and no husband then they usually allow it and no permanent address in your home country. If you have siblings they will need to give proof that they are unable to assist. Either dont have a job/room/medical reasons etc. ....hope this helps

Try the German International School in Dubai http://www.germanschool.ae/ or even the one in Sharjah http://www.dssharjah.org/. It all depends on where you live. There is also a bi-lingual i.e. German/English kindergarten in Dubai though I am not sure where. If you come from the French speaking region of CH then you could also try the French schools.....good luck janatks could you share your experience/feedback for the German School Sharjah? Hi Rudi, I love the German School in Sharjah. They have good teachers and are run/sponsored by the German Government so they really do keep to the standard of Germany. I think next year they will also offer IB /Abi. Even the atmosphere is very much like a proper school. They have been given the Excellent Foreign German School award....so I can only recommend it. Also, due to the subsidies from the Government it is much cheaper than most of the schools around. What grade are your children in? And why did you choose the German school in Sharjah over the one in Dubai? Are you German? Would also be interested to know why you didnt put your kids in an international school. Thanks so much... Hi Rudi, I am half Austrian. The reason for choosing the Sharjah one was because it is a) closer to home (we live in Sharjah) b) Its the older of the two so much more settled and I feel they know what they are doing c) It has a feel of a real school compared to the Dubai one which is more cosmetic d) small classes only 12 students in my daughters class makes for more attention from the teacher d) I chose the DS because at some point in time my kids will go back to Austria to study and they need to adjust to that system of education (besides the language)
