Dear All, Thank you for your input and advice. I have interviewed and they confirmed that I can work under my husband's visa , just need a NOC letter from my husband's company. They are also agreed with the 26 hrs/week working hours but can only offer my a local package with no any other benefits which they said I have already received from my husband. Anyway I am still thinking about it but good to know that I can be employed in Dubai. Many thanks again for your time. Regards Jeddy

Dear Ladies, Once again need your valuable advise, is there any restriction for me to work in Dubai if my husband and my visa issued from Abu Dhabi although we lived in Dubai. I have an interview this week and the HR said they could be a problem as they may need something from my husband's company or worse case to cancel my current visa and re apply work visa for me. Also have anyone work part time here, I was looking for a part time job 26hrs/week base in my daughter school hours which I have already previously discussed with department manager but HR seems to think it will be difficult (but possible) as they have no case of part time working in the company at the moment. Many thanks in advance Jeddy

Hi Jeddy77, do you have any news regarding visa, I seem to be in the same position, only I am based in Scotland waiting for my daughter's and mine residency visa. I am also non - uk passport holder and married in Scotland. Any idea how long all the legalisation and attestation and getting a visa takes because I need to enroll my daughter who is 4 to school. Really nervous about the move Hi Moonflower, The Certs took around one month to attest but this has been done by my husband's company. I had the residency visa now thankfully, actually took a day for my husband to have the NOC letter from British embassy and went to the Emirate immigration for an interview, they finally issued the visa within a couple of hours. It took a lots of painful steps to get where we are though. Good luck with yours.

Dear Ladies, I am also confused with my post and don't know how to summarise my query. Anyway I am married to a British and all our certs have been attested. My husband has his work permit/residency visa granted 3 weeks ago and as soon as he's got his visa he then apply for my visa and I have to leave UAE while my visa in the process. Then the UAE immigration requesting to interview my husband for my visa application as well as request a letter of non objection from British embassy that our marriage is valid. This is seems to be new law introduce last week based on my husband's company HR claimed. This whole query is related to the immigration process in Abu Dhabi so I am not sure if Dubai is the same as some of my friend doesn't seem to have the same request from immigration as mine. Regards

Dear Ladies, Do you know if you can sponsor your sister the same procedure like your parents to stay longer like 1 year? Regards yes, my sister is in my sponsorship but its long ago and I have to renew her visa every year like my mother's visa. You have to prove that your sister is unmarried (and after sponsoring my mother) she can not live alone back home. Dear sunlight, thank you very much for your advice. I am not working is it possible that my husband can sponsor my sister. Do you recall the procedure, can she travels on tourist visa (we are Thais ) and converted to residency visa later on without leaving Dubai? Dear OP, apologies for this I have no intend to hijacked your thread. Thank you for your understanding in advance. Regards

Good morning Ladies, Can you please advise if you can walk from Springs 3 to 2 and 1? Is there any community pool and park within Springs 3? We are looking to rent in Springs 1 and 2 as it is close to my daughter's school but currently nothing available. I would like to be able to cycle to school during the winter so these areas are great. Many thanks in advance.

Hi, This is very useful detail information, I was hoping to visit the nursery for my daughter who is 4 this Wednesday. The nursery sounds good, I took my daughter to Jumeirah International Nursery and enrolled her there for one week while we are waiting to get my residency visa sorted and she already bored in the hotel. I was not quite sure perhaps it's only first day, there are only one teacher and one TA (nanny) with 15 kids maybe too early for me to decide I find your post very useful and thank you. Jedda, after this week most nurseries only have 3 weeks left of the term. Some will then offer summer camps. As your daughter is turning 4 she will be eligible to start school in September. Many here start at 3years.Have a you got a school place sorted yet? If not then you should get on to this ASAP. Best of luck! Hi plum2, She has the school placement for FS2 at DBF , but I thought I would get her to nursery until we get ourselves sorted with the visas and house. If we are still in the UK she would go to nursery until September as the nursery there is open all year. I am just running out of things to do with her in a small service apartment and would like her to interact with other children and have a structured day. Thank you.

Hi Jeddy, There have been many threads in the past few months on parents trying to get places FS1/FS2. It is extremely difficult. Read these posts and you will get a lot of information. Here is a fantastic site with loads of information about Schools in Dubai. http://whichschooladvisor.com/ They even have a section where schools can advertise admissions and vacancies http://whichschooladvisor.com/guides/latest-admissions-info/ Good Luck Hi kodibax, Thank you ever so much for a useful link.

I'm obviously biased as I've chosen Safa, and I don't have experience of DBF but personally from your circumstances I would choose Safa purely because I wouldn't want to have to relocate my child again after just one year. I've heard so many great things from the parents of the sister school Safa Private School, and apparently the head is moving to be head of the Safa Community School. Facilities look like they are going to be good with their huge pool and pitch, sports hall etc. In terms of location AR is great but don't feel restricted to that area as you can also go elsewhere, I'm in umm suqeim, I did a trial run to the school location and was less than 15mins as umm suqeim road is just straight, no traffic lights. I know it might vary a bit depending on time of day. It won't be too far from springs either if you had your sights set on living there. Hi Nayls85, We have visited SAFA school today and decided not to take the offer, we personally don't feel as comfortable as DBF school. Although we didn't like the idea of relocating our daughter to another school hopefully she will transfer to the new DBF primary school in the smooth transition. While we are waiting for our residence visa and etc sorted, I am looking for a nursery place where they can take on a student for a couple weeks. My daughter started to think about her friends at nursery in the UK and am running out of activities to entertain her. Don't want to take her to shopping mall for indoor soft play everyday and she needs to interact with other children with a proper structure/routine. Any advise please? Regards

Thanks again Nayls85 and plum2, As an amateur parent for the big school I am a bit nervous of how to select school for our child, we came from a small village and my daughter supposed to go to our village school with only one class room 25-30children. I think SAFA will initially have 2 classes per year and 18-20 children so was not too big. So hopefully she doesn't surrounded by construction site during her time. Are you any concern about that Nayls85? I will see if I can arrange a visit to the school sometime next week ad Monday is school holiday. If we select SAFA hopefully my daughter will get to know your child as they will be both in FS2. Many thanks Jeddy

Hi My son is due to start FS2 in September and I feel confident that it will be done. They told me that they expect it to be completed in time for first week of September and might only be a couple of days later start as they need to get the initial inspection by the KHDA done. They also said the construction company faces a large fine if not completed in time, so it is in everyone's interests, and in the unlikely event that it isn't completed, they do have a contingency plan that means your children will still start school no matter what. They were really friendly and very determined to put me at ease so I don't think they were trying to pull the wool over my eyes. I therefore haven't registered him in another school as we already paid 4000 non refundable deposit and I don't want to lose that. Hope this helps. Hi Nayls85, Thank you again for reassuring, we have been to the DBF school for my daughter assessment today and has been offered the place. By listening to the school principal described the school it's made me feel so nice that our daughter will settle in the school easily however this school only have FS1 and FS2 classes which means we will have to move our daughter again next September. I am still in the limbo which one to choose. How do you feel about the school facilities, classes and environmentally ? If we choose DBF then we will be looking to live in Springs area but if we choose SAFA community we will be looking at AR area. I have a dateline to pay for placement security fee until next Thursday so just need some inputs before making decision. Many thanks Jeddy

Dear Ladies, What are your views on whether the SAFA community school will be completed on time for this September 2014 academic? We have a school place offered for our daughter but I have read some of the forum saying they might not be complete on time. Should we try other schools as well as an option but our other school is DBF which also under construction. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Jeddy77, I'm in Springs 2, very close to DBS. 3 bed villa which I'm likely to be leaving at the end of June. I'll have to put a lot of my furniture etc on Dubizzle. You're welcome to take a look, if only to give you an idea of what the Springs villas are like Hi Gingerbread, Thank you very much for your kind offer, it would be nice to see the villas. What sort furnitures are you getting rid off? We are looking for furnished/part furnished villas as we didn't ship many of our furnitures from the UK. I will be looking for beds, dining table/chairs,sofas, coffee table and wardrobe (depends on the villas if already have built in wardrobes we probably not needed). How do you find living in Springs, some of my friends who arrived before us and gave been viewing these villas said it's quite small room and built up between villas? I don't mind small but would like to live at an established expat community and some green/park/swimmingpool/lake for our daughter. I also would like to live near my daughter school for easy access school run as I am not a confidence driver so currently we may have place at DUbai British Foundation or SAFA Community School provided they have completed the construction in time. Many thanks again for your kind offer. Jeddy77

Can't really comment on the other areas - my parents lived in Meadows which was really nice, but pain to get out of to commute to DIFC. We live in compound in umm suqeim which is 12mins to DIFC and about 20mins to my son's new school. We just got here in Jan, Safa community school offered him a place in FS2. A lot of very happy parents at their sister school Safa Private School (but no more spaces FS2) so I would look at that. Also about hiring a car - I got mine 2nd hand on Dubizzle, needed a big car as have 2 kids, equipment and far too many eager visitors (!) - anyway we got it for really good value for an expat family leaving and looking for quick sale. Thank you Nayls85, we have finally arrived in Dubai but am still under tourist visa as I am a non UK passport holder so it take longer to get residence visa (that's what I've been told). I have a chance to visit SAFA community school tour today but unfortunately my daughter is still unwell probably jetlag so we have to give school tour a missed. She has been offered a condition placement for FS2 as well. She has also got a place offer at DBF subject to assessment. So I am now start looking an accommodation seriously , any advice on The Springs area as DBF is located opposite Springs14. This's sound promising if the school run will be a short journey for me. Many thanks in advance again. edited by Jeddy77 on 19/05/2014 edited by Jeddy77 on 19/05/2014

Thanks mrssak, I have received email from SAFA community school today offering a conditional placement in FS2 for my daughter. The school asking us to confirm and pay security fee deposit by 20th May the latest. This is good news consider we have registered 4-5 schools but either on waiting list or no feed back for new schools. What would you ladies suggestion as they are expecting our response so soon, we are still in the UK but we will be travelling to Dubai this coming Saturday. This doesn't give us much time to find out about school and etc. Thanks Jeddy

Dear lovely ladies, Just wanted to get this thread up to date. I am currently still live overseas but my husband has been mobilised to Dubai now so our priority is to get the accommodation sorted before I can apply for my residency visa??( I am a non UK passport holder). My husband visited Dubai prior to his mobilisation and have been touring around the areas so we narrow it down to Springs/Meadows/Lakes and Arabian Ranches. Can you please advise/suggest any pros and cons for these areas? Our budget is between 190k-225k and looking for 3/4beds. Although these are our preferences areas but we still have no school place for our daughter (FS2 this September) yet. I have registered 3 schools VHP still on waiting list, DBF new school and Kings new school any suggestions appreciated. Kind regards Jeddy77

210 - 220k for a 3 bed in Meadows 230 - 250k - for a 4 bed in Meadows 270 - 300 for a 5 bed in Meadows Dubizzle prices are often fake. I live in Meadows and am currently looking for another villa to rent as our LL is selling. We are looking a 5 beds and average price is 280k. Thank you Cap1tal, this is very useful advice. We are just about to make if there is a vacant one then but can you negotiate price or this is a going rate? Thanks again and good luck with your search. Discount the Meadows, your budget is not sufficient - not meaning to be harsh but don't waste your time in this location. Hi Cap1tal, I am also looking to rent a villa around Springs/Meadows with budget of 190k-225k for 3 beds, should I be discounted the mentioned area? I was looking at Dubizzle website this price range seem ok for 3beds or sometime 4 beds so was a bit confused if this website give me an accurate price. I know the original post was referring to 4-5 but even 200k doesn't seem to be enough. Regards

Hi, are you able to watch BBC in Dubai? I will be moving to Dubai late this month so would be good to be able to watch a BBC program. Yes the Voice Final was good last night, Christina Marie voice very powerful and flawless performance but I am still thinking Jermain is the man and good luck to his bright future although his first performance wasn't that good but he had performed 3 different style of songs. I think Will.i.am speech won the British hearts again.

Thank you Cornish Pixie for a useful info and links. New GEMS schools look promising what about Nord Anglia , is it far from the locations you have mentioned? The cost of 2nd hand car seems very high as much as in the UK, do you know the rental cost please? My colleagues who have been working there told me you could rent a small car for maybe around £400/month. We will be in Dubai for only 18-24months so don't want to spend too much money on the 2nd car. Any thanks again, I owe you a Thai lunch. :)
