Hi Miami I am hoping that you are well settled in Salalah and able to give me some advice! I am moving in July, following my husband after 10 years in Dubai. He is in an apartment in Juweirah Residence. I would love to stay but a little tight on space. Can you recommend anywhere else that might suit. Children are away at Uni now but we still have a lot of furniture despite being in a 2 bedroom apartment in Dubai. Also looking forward to children visiting.

Hello I have a very interesting article that you might like to read. I am a dietitian and while baby sounds a little young to be adding extras to the diet, relaxation is important. Buy some Epsom salts from Choithrams and add them to the bath water. They are rich in magnesium and it is absorbed through the skins to aid sleep and relax the esophageal sphincter to allow for gravity to keep things going in the right direction. As adults also experience, stress and an already established association of feeding and pain, can cause subconscious stress. Babies gut will mature but try to keep feeding as relaxed as possible, maybe in a quiet, dark room and try to get through to the 6 month mark when you have more options to consider. Email me and I will send this article. If you want to discuss it with the lactation consultant or myself, I am very happy to make some suggestions. This is my home email. [email protected]

Try the Mac waxy pot in black or brown and a slightly angled eyeliner brush from Sephora brand. Mac is definitely waterproof. Having been using for years and go waterskiing all the time with it on!

That is the explaination they gave also. Anything with sugar or refined starches produces insulin and insulin is what unlocks the door for fat storage as well as excess turns to fat in the liver. So the combination of both is not good.

Recently I was at a corporate presentation by XY Clinics. Their doctors and nutritionists were saying that not all calories are the same and calorie counting is quite useless if there are metabolic blocks or hormone disorders. I did some checking on the web and came across a nice article by Gary Taubs called The Big Fat Lie. The arguement is that there is such a thing as good calories and bad calories. Weight gain according XY Clinics and Taubs depends on where the calories are coming from and not so much on how many. Eg. 1000cals from glucose will produce a different response than 1000cals from protein and fat. My question is "if not all calories are the same, why are we still counting?"

Rather than following recommendations for supplements and good eating based on Patrick Holford or magazines, a clinic called XY do metabolic tests to identify exactly what your metabolic pathways need to put it back into balance. They write your health plans based on moilecular science of your body and not on good intention. This avoids prolonging health issues and fighting often a losing battle. They also do a DNA gastro test to identify everything to do with your gut function> This is how many western clinics now operate as most health information is ineffective for the individual

XY Clinic on Al Wasl Rd have the latest gluten and lactose tests and are experts in their advice. They look at the underlying cause of disease rather than just treating.

I am a nutrition grad and while I do believe carbs are the key to good weight management, you need to identify that all carbs are not equal. Fill up on fruit, pulses, dairy and vege and the science is that you dont flood the system with insulin but get the necessary energy. Sometimes your metabolism needs a lot of support and rebalancing hence you get stuck. XY Clinic in Dubai are experts at this and gut issues

Weight loss is not all about energy and exercise. If your metabolic pathways are not functioning well, gut issues, poor liver detox, you just cannot lose weight. Weight is a symptom of metabolic imbalance. Have a look at a website www.xyclinics.com
