Apologies in advance if I am on the wrong track here... but a new poster posting such a 'sensitive' suggestion... hmmmm!!! What do you mean ? I am trying to help the OP. It has worked for me. I give extra cash to my Nanny. I was so sleep deprived , my husband also ... my baby needs attention on night also. We found a solution . Everybody' s happy so what is the problem ? This didn't sound like a joke. Lemondrops, it is easy to say things behind a screen I am still bf my 12 months old baby, day and night, and I am cosleeping. Believe it or not. it will not change my life and my choices. Khallas now

To hand over the baby to the maid, if he wasn't sleeping through the night? Didn't you say it worked for you? Lemondrops it is obvious that this is a joke again ! edited by salome on 04/07/2011 Yeah, i love to joke;)

That BM is high in sugar and yes she also stated that by giving her too much bm at this point I could be setting her up for obesity and diabetes later in life. ! You should have told her that, surely, she received received too much breastmilk when she was a baby, that' s why She is obese ! lol ( joke) What a stupid joke! Pathetic actually. I agree. I was quite disgusted actually. To D.babe and GreenQueen, did Cecile cite any of the medical literature that she based her advice on? Just curious... You should be disgusted by her behavior and the wrong advice she is giving... It was just to show how stupid is her advice ! Regardless whether or not you agree with her opinion, ridiculing someone because of their appearance or weight is disgusting. JMO. Her opinion is against ALL Current MEDICAL RECOMMANDATIONS. We are not living in the '70 anymore. her opinion is stupid, and replying by this at least, she will think twice before stating such enormity. Says the woman who touts her baby to the maid! And what ? dis you come to my home to see if this is true or not ?

You are the most stupid by following her advice, and paying her for this . you dont want to see the truth because it hurts.

Green-ish replied : Ah salome...up to your usual 'tricks' I see. If you have something constructive and non-judgemental to say, please just come out and say it. Thanks for your comment....does this forum not allow a simple question ? I am sure BTW that you did your best for all your babies . Despite salome's not too eloquent manner of saying it, in terms of cecile, I now am her 100 percent supporter. Was just shocked speaking to a friend of a 7 month old baby who had visited cecile due to recommendations and got the most ridiculous advice ever. To summarize what she was told- 7 month old babies need most of their calories from solids as per the WHO and she is breasfeeding her baby TOO much???? she should reduce the number of night feeds- only one dream feed and no more till morning (because babies dont need food to grow!!!) breast milk is very sweet and she could cause her child to have diabetes later in life if she feed a 7 MONTH OLD baby too much breast milk -(OMFG- my babies are SOOOO going to get diabetes then as I fed my older son till 2.5 yrs) All the stuff in brackets are my comments- the rest are her recommendations!!! I must say Salome is absolutely correct in her evaluation of Cecile. If there was any sort of board here that we could report people to for giving medical advice absolutely opposite to current medical recommendations, I would have asked my friend to report her!!! As a breastfeeding mother- I must say I am absolutely horrified at waht I heard and luckily my friend did not listen to her and walked out but I shudder to think what a more impressionable, tired, sleep deprived mother would do with her demented advice!!! edited by designbabe on 03/07/2011 edited by designbabe on 03/07/2011 looool actually, breastfeeding protect from the diabete in later life !!

Karen Blixen, I see that you have deleted your comment...generalizing the actions of a few billion people based on the few families living in a building is quite unfair imo. I would also like to add here.. I dont agree with jumeirajaneindubai but well what she decides to do with her kids is her decision and great if it works for them... but I dont think I would follow her advise for mine. Kcinthecity, I am glad that you have made the decision to seek professional help and It is nice to see that your DD is responding so well to it :) Although I did not have to do sleep training with my DS but he has always been on a strict routine from 6 weeks where I am very careful about his sleep associations, bedtimes and wakeup time. He is only 7 months but in case things change in the future and he starts waking up in the night, I'll not think twice before taking Cecile's help and getting things back on track. @ Karen, I am European too- Hope that clarify any confusion. @Mishmash, No problem if you dont agree. Different style of parenting I guess. To be honest I dont agree to any kind of sleep training . For me, Sleep is not a battle which has to be won.

Dubaicat replied : He was only 7 or 8 months at the time . Does sleep training affect a successfull breastfeeding as the baby is left couple a hours without any feed ? Two of my babies slept through the night (12+ hours) from 10 and 12 weeks, both exclusively breastfed and both without anything in particular that I did. The other slept through the night from 17 weeks, four days after we instigated a version of 'sleep training'. If the baby goes to bed comfortable, well-fed, dry and relaxed, there is no need to feed them every couple of hours. From my understanding, milk is for hunger and thirst. I am 34 , and I still wake up several time a night to drink water, specially with the summer heat, and AC.

Went to Cecile yesterday. Lovely lady. She wants to me to do the dont pick up but soothe approach for DD who is 16 months and needs to be rocked to sleep and needs to be soothed back to sleep multiple times a night. Last night was awful where she cried the whole 45 mins of the 'dont pick up' approach. I was instructed to abandon if she cried for 45 mins. Today at nap time (which has always been a struggle), she was ok but did not sleep in the 45 mins so we had to pick her up and rock her again. I just wanted to hear your experiences. Obviously I know this is not going to just work the first time, but how long did it take for you ladies to see success using her methods? And I need the encouragement too. I was surprisingly not as upset with the yelling asi thought I would be and the wonderful Ashc basically told me "She is not hurt, she is not hungry, she is not cold, she is crying because she wants you to pick her up" and that made me feel better. Note: I am not leaving her in her crib to CIO. Why dont you ask your maid/ nanny to handle that ? At least the emotiona/ physicall needs of your baby are met, you wont listen to him crying , and you can have a good night sleep ?
