I also would recommend Dr. Baghat without hesitation. He removed my DD's tonsils last year and also put in grommets at the same time. He came very highly recommended by our Pediatrician as well. Dr. Baghat is at the Medical International Specialist Center near the end of Al Wasl Road (across from Life Pharmacy). Their number is: 04 349 9100

I guess I was over-watering it (once a day), oops! I stopped watering it daily about 2 weeks ago but it seems to be getting worse. It's in the sun from late morning through the afternoon. I'll try the giving it some fertilizer too. Thanks for your help!

Ladies, I'm interested to hear your opinions on what I should do. An update and some more advice needed: A few days ago, E-City Electronics purchased my old iPhone 4. I was there on two different occasions, speaking to two different gentleman. On each occasion they asked me which version I had. Since I've had it for 2 years (and not tech savy, haha) I wasn't sure and I told both of them that. Both men looked at my phone, checked it was working, etc. Now, 48 hours after I actually sold it to them, one of them calls me to say it's not the 4s like he thought and he wants me to pay an additional 200dhs. I was honest with them up front, gave both of them an opportunity to look at the phone. And if I thought I would have gotten 200dhs less I probably would have never sold my iPhone 4. What should I do?

OP: I also have a low pain threshold. I have had three epidurals and have barely felt anything. I can't even remember any of them, other than being nervous about it just beforehand. Please try not to get worked about about what others are saying that haven't even experienced it themselves. You should do what feels best for you. With my first child, it was a small hospital and their only anesthesiologist was in surgery. I remember having to wait and counting each dot on the ceiling tiles. Once that epidural was in, it was so much easier. My second child I opted for it as soon as I could and it made the labor & delivery (13 hours) a piece of cake! And same as for DreamC, the two epidurals (3rd ended up C-section) both wore off within a few hours. I could walk, bend, etc. without any trouble at all. Wishing you the best with [u'>your[/u'> decision.

I've sent them an email, thank you Kaba for the recommendation! You're very welcome. :) There is also a new crafting/teacher supply store on Umm Sequim, just off a new slip road (it's just past the turn off for MOE if you're heading toward Arabian Ranches). They have a huge costume selection as well. No idea on the Mr. Men in particular though. Good luck!

I would absolutely want to know as well. I may have been guilty of this when quite heavily pregnant with my last LO. Had a beautiful dress from Mamas & Papas, wore it once and then the 2nd time in different light, I noticed it was VERY transparent. Complete mistake!

Welcome. The first three months will be a whirlwind, honeymoon phase, you will be so busy, you won't have time to think. Then the reality of the life here will settle in and you will settle into a routine, normal lifestyle with husband and kids. There will be good and bad days - you will love and hate the place, people, service, etc but that the nature of this beast, "Dubai". Expat life is certainly not for everyone, but, Life is what you make it - come with an open mind and an open heart - you may be surprised. Perfectly put Mrs.B! And I love the advice too. :)

TDB- I completely agree with you on the attentiveness of the labor ward staff. They were so busy but so kind, reassuring, and helpful. And the nurses on the after delivery floor were completely opposite. I'm sorry to hear that you also had to have an emergency CS. It's hard to have to go through that after laboring. I don't feel like my doctor made me feel like I needed to induce. The baby was getting so big that I would have definitely had to have a CS if we waited much longer. However, I agree about waiting if at all possible. Those last few weeks you are so anxious but I think it's best to let them come when they are ready. I did the induction to avoid CS but his head was already too big to get under my pelvic bone.

Hi Wizlyric, A lot of my friends have had great experiences with City. However, my personal experience with City was awful, you couldn't pay me enough to have another baby there. I thought the pain management was horrific. After an emergency c-section (24 hours after induction), I was experiencing the worst pain I've ever felt and had to beg the nurse over and over to give me something. This was about an hour after my baby was born. She was annoyed and very reluctantly finally gave me one injection of morphine. That was all I got my through my stay there. They were supposed to alternate between Panadol and an anti-inflamatory every 4 hours. I would go 8 hours without anything. We'd call the nurse when they didn't arrive and they'd still not bring anything. It was absolutely ridiculous. My DH ended up going to the pharmacy and bringing me pain reliever. Also want to add that during the c-section, my doctor who was in the middle of operating on me, had to tell the anesthesiologist to stop texting on her phone and pay attention. So they make everyone scrub up, put on caps, gowns, things over their shoes, but the anesthesiologist is able to bring one of the dirtiest things into the O/R - a cell phone?!! Also not sure if the anesthetic wore off too quickly after or if I was allergic to the tape they used on my back (for the epidural - which was previous to the c-section of course) but they rolled me on my side straight after the operation, I felt like my insides were going to fall out, it was excruciating. Then they proceeded to rip the tape off my back which went from my shoulders all the way down my back. It actually tore skin off. I don't mean to scare you but I have such bad memories of that place and will never, ever have any sort of operation done there. This was 2 yrs ago. It still brings tears to my eyes. What could have been a lovely experience, turned into one of my worst memories. This was my third child, so I knew what to expect (or so I had thought). edited by Kaba on 14/03/2013 edited by Kaba on 14/03/2013

Hi Longhorn, How exciting, the big move is coming up! We also moved from the US, about 4 1/2 yrs ago. I think it took me about 6 months to really feel settled in. We arrived in Sept during Ramadan so it was not only a heat shock but a complete culture shock as well. We shipped a container over as well and that made a massive difference in making our villa seem like ours. It also really helps to get out there and try and meet people right away. At the time my LO was quite young so we started attending an EW playgroup, which is where I made my first handful of friends, and we are very close to this day. I would also be happy to chat offline, feel free to send me an email if you'd like, kaba underscore dubai at hotmail dot com

Eczema is related to the immune system. Dr. Loubser at Infinity clinic is a specialist pediatrician specializing with those type of things. He is usually booked up in advance but you can always be waitlisted for a cancellation. I agree, Dr. Loubser is excellent. He is definitely worth the wait if you have to book an appt a month or two out..

Yesterday my husband & I were at the roundabout in Mirdif, so he kept the right lane then this woman is in the left lane and wants to turn right just before the exit we were gona take. OMW she managed to brake and she was so arrogant, followed us so we stopped but remained in the car. She got out, started screaming and threatening to call the police etc..but nothing happened to both cars. My question is..were we in the wrong? Maybe we don't understand the rules here? And if it was an accident obviously we would've stopped right there! For the 1st time since we got here, I felt very sad and missed home ;( is this how some people here are going to treat us just because we don't look/dress like them? Do we even have rights? It was sad to watch my husband being disrespected by some random woman & he just remained calm the whole time! It's so sad that some are so angry and self-important that they can't realize perhaps you just made a mistake. Whenever I encounter some deranged person on the road it makes me miss home also. I try and look at it like, what a sad life they lead if they are always stressed, rushed, and angry.

The only thing I have to add is... ....[b'>frozen peas[/b'>. 2 packets. One to sit on your sore spots and one to put back in the freezer while the first one melts on your sore spots. [b'>But seriously, there was a post here a couple of weeks ago about a lady taking her young daughter to be waxed for the first time. The salon used some new kind of wax and apparently it didn't hurt one bit. Might be worth hunting that down.[/b'> I last time I got waxed down there I ended up wiht massive bloodblisters and welts which lasted approximately the amount of time it took for the hair to regrow. Completely defeated the purpose. After that I went and got lasered. That was 12 years ago and I haven't looked back (or down, LOL). I was reading the same thread BMAP. It is new AmyAus82.My DS started the 6hrs in January. We found 4hrs was not enough so increased it after discussion with the school. It does increase cost but prorata to the cost of the tutor. The morning is generally busier than the afternoon but it allows my DS to socialise which is an excellent thing. My son gets several breaks.I still think that 6hrs at K-12 is more productive than in a traditional school.I drop him in the mornings and pick him up in the evenings. For cost and options, please talk to them directly as there may be restrictions on the age they take the students due to high demand. We were extremely lucky we joined at a time when it was new.I have seen K-12 evolving so fast but at the same time looking after their customers and trying to find a working solution for our kids. I cannot recommend them enough.I wish I could get a discount on fees for sending people across LOL. edited by fjcruiser on 02/03/2013 edited by fjcruiser on 02/03/2013 Can't agree enough with fjcruiser. Hi Dubai City Chick, My LO also had severe eczema since he was 3 months. I also took him to Dermacare where he was prescribed a mixture of creams that had to be made up at the pharmacy on Beach Rd. Once I got in for the first time with the Pediatrician I wanted, the Pediatrician didn't agree with the lotion mixture and has since changed it to something much more simple. We have been doing the following routine for over a year now and it has been wonderfully successful! I am so thankful to have found that Doctor. We use Cutivate for breakouts (which are very rare now), and we use Lipobase cream (what I would call lotion) twice a day (morning and evening) and nothing in his bath, except throwing some olive oil in the bath water about 5 mins before it's time to get him out. HTH and good luck!

The test you are referring to is an intolerance test. Dr Loubser is fab. go to him or another allergy specialist. A good gastro or allergy specialist would probably not run the intolerance test, there are tests to test for specific things, again, speak to your doctor who can advice you further :) edited by Purple on 03/02/2013 Dr. Loubser is absolutely wonderful but I believe he is a Pediatric Allergist so only treats children (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Ugh, how frustrating that would be to have to deal with on a regular basis. I would yell at the child too, regardless of their nationality. If you're not using profanity what could you get into trouble for? If it keeps up why not have your DH disconnect the doorbell. We did this when our youngest was an infant as people seemed to stop by and ring the bell just as soon as he'd gone to sleep. :)

This may well be very specific to my DD, however have you had your DD's tonsill's checked? My eldest used to get infections / tonsillitis every few weeks when she was little and ended up very run down / thin etc and even got impetago at one point (quite badly). She ended up getting her tonsils and adenoids out and quite literally overnight she was a different child. It might be worth a look? I hope she feels better soon This was exactly the case with my DD. As soon as her tonsils were removed, everything changed and she has not been sick once since (8 months and counting). Good luck Nikkid, I hope your little one feels better! edited by Kaba on 30/01/2013 edited by Kaba on 30/01/2013

Hi Johjoh, My DD has Molluscum Contagiosum, though it's nearly cleared up now. We used Aldara cream (you apply to the affected area every other day) which really did the trick for her. She had it really badly on her legs and it just kept spreading. I believe you can buy this without a prescription but it is on the expensive side (upwards of 500dhs). My DD had to have a 2nd prescription and now hers is nearly gone. The way it was explained to me is that the Aldara cream kicks the immune system into gear and makes it fight the Molluscum. I would HIGHLY recommend her Pediatrician, Dr. Michael Loubser at Infinity Clinic on Al Wasl Rd. He is by far the best Pediatrician I've ever seen. There may be a waiting list to see him but in my opinion, it is definitely worth it. The other Pediatrician there is also very good and I never hesitate to see her either. I can't say enough good things about that clinic. Their number is 04 394 8994. edited by Kaba on 04/12/2012
