Hi ladies We just moved into the lakes. We are looking for a company to deliver the gas cylindres for our cooker but all the companies I called said they do not deliver to the lakes. Would anybody know who to contact? Thank you

Hi, our lovely Sri Lankan nanny will be travelling to Sri Lanka this August. Her visa started in April 2015. Do we need any specific paperwork to make sure she has no problems going there or coming back. I cannot find any information and want to avoid last minute issues. Thanks!

During the Summer I would like to give my husband power of attorney here in the UAE as he might need to sign some paper in both our names in Dubai. We have Belgian nationality but are residents in the UAE on an Abu Dhabi visa. Does anybody know how we can get this POA in place? We will be leaving end of next week so it is quite urgent... Thank you!

Any more recommendations on a good doctor? The ones mentioned hear are not covered by our insurance. We get insurance cover for most of the bigger hospitals (except AH) so ideally a recommendation from there would be great! I looked around but most seem to be specialised in peeling etc whereas I need a thorough check on my moles as well. Thanks!

Saw them in Lulu (Al Barsha), flown in from Canada. No idea about the price though

Same here, paid 500AED for a new battery at the gas station next to Knowledge Village. They said there is a cheap version (150AED) and the good version (500AED). Before that I paid 150AED for a guy to come to our house to jump the battery. Did pay the 500AED myself though, not the insurance

Hi, We are a European family with two boys. We used to have a lovely Sri Lanka lady when our youngest was born. She lived with us and worked for us for two years and then decided to retire. We just started looking again for somebody new to join our family and would love to hear from you. You can contact me on klijndubai[at'>yahoo.com Thanks

I bought some in Lulu (behind MOE) and there seemed to be plenty, but perhaps they just restocked? In the past I also bought from Waitrose in Umm Suqeim Does anybody know where to get lactofree yoghourt, I am not to keen on the sugary soja ones?

Nobody? Our usual dry cleaner quoted at 4AED per shirt, seems like a fair price but was curious for any more references :-)

Our boy just turned two :-) He loves Duplo (especially if you get the set that also has some figurines and animals), he loves books (but unfortunately still does rip them), he got a three-weeled scooter-step that he enjoys very much, and a water-and-sand play table from ELC (although it is too hot right now) We have an old bobby car that still gets played with every day by both our boys Also both boys play with trains a lot so for that budget you can get a really nice wooden train set In general avoid things with lots of little pieces (like lego, playmobil) and for the parents sake avoid things that make too much noise ;-) You might want to check with the parents on what he already has and what kind of gift they would appreciate (outdoor / indoor / educational ...)

So we were informed today by the school that next week two days will have early dismissal. I feel like every excuse is good for early dismissals... end of term, holiday coming up, parent-teacher meetings, ... I wonder if this is the same in all schools. Feeling rather frustrated about this right now!
