In France, there is no need to have a new test, you can convert the UAE license into a French one. .

Cheche, It's a book that you buy in a book shop or in a supermarket. Inside, you have vouchers for restaurants, waterparks, hotels...It's very interesting because usually, you can save a lot of money with the vouchers. For example, if you have a voucher for a restaurant, instead of paying the price of 2 meals, you will pay only for one meal. With hotels, you have usually one night bought, the other one is free. There are several books: family, fine dining, travel...

It depends of how much do you want to spend. What about the following? a romantic dinner for only the bride and the groom in a very good restaurant, a night in a very good hotel with massage, jewellery.

I agree with all the former posters. it's better for you and for her to bring your daughter with you and to visit Athens together.

I fly several times to Paris when I was pregnant and they never asked me any letter. But I flied with Emirates and followed their instructions. So I got the letter only after I entered the 29th week of pregnancy. Before that, I used to bring me the documents showing the duration of my pregnancy, and never had any issue. The letter that you will have tomorrow cannot be used when you will come back from Paris.

My former salary was in the Uk so would that be very useful? Sorry this is new to me and my circumstances are much different now im here. Yes, the salary that I give was also my salary back home. If you were very happy with your salary in the UK, then you can follow my advice. If, not maybe, it's better to ask them first what they can offer. To be honest, with this second tactic, they offered me a salary less interesting then what I had back home.

PS. Our contract is an expatriate contract, with our home base being our country of origin. I know there are also expatriate contracts which are local based and I don't have any experience to share about those. So your contract is subject to the application of your country law. Shelly, Montmartre is not easy to get to and it is full of tourists BUT it is most definitively worth the visit. It is unlike any part of Paris that you will see and putting myself in a tourist's shoes, I would do it. Try to avoid La Place des Artistes as there are a lot of scam artists etc. Do not bother having lunch there or even a coffee as it's overpriced and a tourist trap. However, the views from up there are amazing and the most important thing is that you get the views of the other side of Paris which you don't see from La Seine doing the Bateau Mouche. Take the time to check out the little back streets where people actually live. There are actual semi detached houses rather than apartments in which most Parisiens live. It is really beautiful. I agree with that. If you have enough time, you can also visit le Quartier Latin. If you like paintings, you can visit le Musée d'Orsay, which is one of my favourite museums in Paris.

You may find comments on the nurseries board regarding London Paris Nursery. I visited several nurseries recently and found that they will close at 4 during ramadan. Did you ask them if they will close early during ramadan?

Hope it lasts longer than the Tefal Actifry. I bought a Actifry about 10 months ago and it made great homemade chips without the frying smell. About a month after I bought it I read some reviews that the actifry burnt out after some people had it about a year. I thought pahh its working great so be fine. A few weeks ago the motor burnt out. Looked out the receipt as that was the guarantee and the receipt had faded so couldn't make out what was on it.:\: I have one for more than 5 years and it's still perfect. Lucky you. I so want another one but wary incase another burns out. I bought it in France. Maybe, the actifry sold here are not made in the same place than mine, that's why they don't last.

I would have told them they made a mistake. It happened to me several times since I always check my bill and everytime I notice a mistake, I tell them there is a mistake. If I were you, I will go back there and give them the 50 dirhams. Do you wear a halo? LOL Drive all the way back to give them 50dhs. lolol Sure, I'll do that and I don't wear a halo, I'm just normal.

Trader Vic's is my favourite restaurant there and I didn't know there is a voucher for this restaurant before I discussed this question with you. We decided to go to Meat Co, but it was closed and we went to Trader Vic's, everybody loves it. I bought the entertainer and used the vouchers. Thanks again

I checked this information with the RTA one month ago. I called them first and they told me they do not deliver temporary driving license anymore but if the car is under my name, then my parents and my brothers and sisters can drive my car with their international driving license. I went to their office to check the information about the temporary driving license and they confirmed that it does not exist anymore. They told me that visitors are only allowed to drive rented cars, not residents'cars. So my visitors didn't drive.

Hi Pepito, If I remember well, you're also from France. Don't worry, if you want to go back to France, I think it will be easy to find a job there, especially with your academic background and your language skills. I just started looking for a job in France and had several very interesting contacts. If you want to stay here, maybe you just need more time. Several women here wrote that they needed more than 8 months to find a job here. Good luck for your search.

What's the name of the agency you used? I think it's a good deal. The agencies that I contacted ask me to pay around 2,500 dirhams per month and the maid will be paid 750. So, if I can find one through your agency, I will pay the agency 2,100 and give 400 more to the maid. I found an excellent maid who was working for a family and the family told me that if I hire her, they will ban her. I understand that you feel sad but apparently the things work like this.

Thanks a lot for your responses. I visited Blossom (umm al sheif) and Emerald (Jumeira 2) and I was impressed by the activities they're offering but unfortunately, they finish at 5 p.m. during the summer, it's too early for me. Hummingbird is too far from me. I will try with the others. edited by KB75 on 02/07/2011

What I dislike is...... where are you from, what are you doing here, what kind of package are you on, do you ahve a good housing allowance, school included in that and what about DEWA. Ya...tired of those questions and again, having lived overseas for 10 years it seems as though Dubai is the worst for the nosey questions! I don't undestand why you dislike when somebody asks you where are you from. It never bothers me and I even ask sometimes this question. Regarding the other questions, it's impolite to ask them in a lot of cultures, including mine but maybe it is acceptable in others. Anyway, I was never asked and never ask these questions. But, I understand that sometimes in this forum, people speak about these questions, since it's anonymous. It may help other persons. For example, when I have job interviews, they always ask me what are my salary expectations, and I cannot answer to this question since I don't know how much a person with my experience can earn here. I would be very happy to have an idea of what I can expect.

Not originally, but I studied and worked in Paris. What about you? There is even one who offered me immediately a position, when I told him that the salary he was offering is 15 times less than what I was earning in France, he told me you're not in France, you're in Dubai. Funny...

I applied and had many interviews with different companies. There are several companies where I had 3 interviews and they chose a person who has experience here or speaks arabic. But, i think that in a French company, my French will represent a big advantage. Thanks Pepito and Annick, I really appreciate. edited by KB75 on 21/06/2011 edited by KB75 on 22/06/2011

Our former housemaid was under Abu Dhabi sponsorship. Her employer cancelled her visa in Abu Dhabi, and he gave her the documents showing that her visa was cancelled and we applied for her visa here in Dubai. She got her visa very quickly. when was that though.... It was in January of this year.

Agree with Mrs Pacioli. You have to read carefully the court's decision to check who was condemned to pay you the damages. It is probably the Company but maybe it is the owner of the company. There are cases where the owner of a limited liability company can be found liable for the debts of the company if for example the company becomes bankrupt because of the owner. Could you tell me where is the employer?

OK, with your description, I thought maybe he was taking aim at your husband only. But, I always think it's better for him to see what he can find elsewhere. Your never know what could happen especially when you have a high position.
