Hi kittykat I too am new to Dubai, been here one week! I live in Al Safa not too far from you. I am heading to the coffee morning on Monday at Costa in Dubai Mall to meet people. Am happy to have coffee or a vino when time allows. I come with an 18 month old girl but she starts nursery next week so my mornings will be free! Great! I would have attended that one but my daughter is off school for Sun and Monday due to UAE public holidays...i can always do the one the week after..or we can meet up on Wed, thurs...anytime in the morning..maybe MoE? My son is also off KittyKat those two days. If you do arrange to go to an EW Coffee Morning then let me know,

Cloud 9s also have a two year guarantee which is an added bonus, my pair packed up after just one year and I had no trouble exchanging them.

i use la Roche-Posey, found it at Boots. The one I bought is called Anthelios Matte Extreme Fluid, and it is 30+ sunscreen. Have found it BRILLIANT for oil control and have had no problems wearing make up over it. Have searched and searched for something to deal with the oiliness and this is what works for me. About 120AED if I remember correctly....you just have to make sure you rub it in really thoroughly or you look rather pale ;) Sounds good, thanks.

Shiseido do an oil-free line called Pureness which I have used for a few years now as I also have oily skin and it seems to work well for me. I think I pay around AED 140-150 for a bottle which lasts quite a few months. Thanks TB.

Clarins...I changed from Liz Arden to Clarins 3 years back and my oily skin doesnt shine as much. even their tinted moisturisers are great day wear...last thru the day at work. Where is this available to buy here? I to wear tinted moisturiser and would love for it not to become a shiny mess.

Is this in Reem by any chance? I am amazed how inconsiderate they were. I'm all for a good party but the volume of that music until well past 3.30 am was totally unacceptable. Its all very well for those how dont have to get up early but my lovely children are awake at 5.30. I am tempted to go round now and lean on their doorstep until Madame or Sir appears and see how they like it. I'm also in Reem and I know the one you mean, live singer to. I was sitting in the garden enjoying a glass of wine but the noise level was to loud, worse then a children's party!

I've just booked one for 6.30 later, fingers crossed! Well our one didn't turn up, I rang them to double check someone had picked up the fare but was told no, I was told to call back in 10 mins to check again at which point I told him to cancel as I didn't have the time to wait, totally useless system.

Thank you so much ladies. Have booked Al Muna, Mina a Salam. Apparently it's the 2012 Time Out winner for brunch. Excited now! Hi Sue R If you have an Entertainer (Family one) book there's BOGOF vouchers in there..... Doesn't include alcohol but they do let you pay the difference... Great value. Enjoy. Wow, thanks for that CJ. Actually don't have the family one, only have fine dining. Anyone in Arabian Ranches willing to do a voucher swap? Would offer you mine Sue, but unfortunately I've already used them...And begged/Borrowed more... Hic x I have plenty of vouchers in the family & fine dining if anyone wants them, I'm in the Ranches Al Reem 2. Hi Kimball65, if you have family vouchers for Al Muna I'd be very pleased to have two. You can take your pick from my fine dining book. I'm in AR too - I'm around tomorrow so let me know on here and we can hook up. Thank you. Hi Sue, they're yours for the taking, no need to swap, my fine dining is full with only 2 vouchers used. I'm around this afternoon so contact me on [email protected] and we can arrange collection. Thanks a million. Will email you this pm. You can remove your address now. I'm out at madinat later for Woman in black, I'll be leaving about 6.30 so you'd have to collect them before then :-)

Looking at somewhere that can accommodate a party of about 25-30 adults and about 6 children ageing from 4-10 years approx. it's for the Christmas party so would like it to be quite festive if possible. I've tried google but it just keeps coming up with Christmas Day brunch.

Something made with cubed steak, I too will make it up as I go along. Do you have a good stew recipe, I was thinking of doing a stew?? Sorry for not replying, I've only just come back on. I don't tend to follow recipes for things like stew, I make it up as I go along and depends what's in my cupboards.

Thanks ladies, I think I'll go ahead with that plan then, I'm in AR so good location. I actually bought a frozen turkey in Hypa panda yesterday, thought I'd be prepared early lol, but after looking at the polo club menu it seems silly not to take advantage of having it all cooked, the only problem being is who's going to refrain from having a few sherbets to collect it!!

Hi Kimball. Do you rent your house out the rest of the year? We will keep ours and rent it out, but it will be unfinished and I wasn't sure we'd be able to move tenants in and out so easily... No we don't, my eldest daughter and her bf live there so we have the best of both worlds, although we cover most of the mortgage and bills still!! We also keep a car in the garage so we don't have to pay huge rental fees which were becoming ridiculous on top of the cost of fuel. edited by kimball 65 on 09/10/2012

We are looking to move to Dubai in the new year, but would like to go back to the UK for 6 weeks or so in the summer. Do any of you do the same and if so, do you find it easy to find short-let properties? We have had a look at holiday lets in Kent (where we live at the moment near Sevenoaks), but the prices are at least double what you would usually pay on a monthly basis. Have any of you done home exchanges? Any other ideas and advice would be much appreciated! Hi Cakes35 We're almost neighbours, I'm from Ashford. I too go home every summer but we still have our home so it's not a problem for me.

Our Jack Russell will be a year old in a couple of weeks and is the cleverest little dog I know. We've had him since about 8 wks old and I had him toilet trained within a month of bringing him home. I bought a pack of those pads and they are still in my cupboard with just a few used, I found it really easy to train him but then again I'm fortunate that I'm at home all day so had the time to concentrate on him.

Can't believe Kay Burley ambushed that poor teenage son of the accused. The poor kid looked shell shocked, and did I hear Kay ask him how many times he has met his father ? I agree Kimball, the police have much more to go on than they can disclose. Poor little thing, it's heartbreaking I personally can't stand Kay Burley, I absolutely hate watching her belittle the people she interviews.

I think the police know more then they're allowed to say in terms of what he's said, the reason they are interested in the river is because he was wearing all waterproof clothing when they picked him up walking back to the village. Lets just all hope and pray for a good outcome, the gut feelings aren't nice as we all know how these things normally end, I just feel so so sorry for the family.

Is anyone else concerned by the fact that it is halfway through first term and our children still do not have readers? Reading is an educational basic and with the fees we are paying I don't think this is good enough! That was one of my main concerns when my child attended that school, same reading book for months, he was in the top group so I don't think they bothered that much.

If its not a regular flat house key but one of those ones with dimples then Minutes will not be able to do those. I found a place in Karama for that type opposite LuLu supermarket. Thanks for that, we'll try there:)

Depends on what type of key? We're in the ranches and can't find anywhere that will cut our ones, you can try minutes, they're in MCC & MOE, there is also a key cutting kiosk at Lulu in Al Barsha.

A pathetic, miserable, disappointing, annoying 0.1kg loss. I know a loss is better than a gain but I stupidly weighed myself midweek and had lost 0.4kg, so I am gutted. I know where I've been slipping up, though - hidden Syns when it's something I can't readily work out, picking at the kids' food and of course my little wine binge on Friday night - so I am firmly back on track today. Apparently you can get Fry Light at Spinneys in Mirdif so I'll be taking a quick trip over there :) and this morning I stocked up on chicken and mince so I can do a few huge batches of Syn-free meals over the weekend. I'd been worried about the fat content of the low-fat mince I'd been using so today I got the butcher to cut all the fat off a couple of kilos of rump and had him mince that instead. Cringed at the price but if it means I lose my target kilo next week I don't care! Doesn't have to be just fry light, as long as its a fat free spray like Pam or Richfoods which is more readily available.

If I was you I'd set her a trap by leaving your bag again and marking your notes then check it before you go, if it was the maid and she thinks she got away with it today the chances are she'll try again, and same goes for the children. edited by kimball 65 on 17/09/2012

We use Lebanese flat bread for our base, so cheap and quick to cook, load them with all the usual suspects and we all love them! What a very good idea.
