Hi There, Personally looking for salon here is a struggle and also it's really expensive especially when you dont know any. after attempting to try 5 salons here in AD finally i have found 1 that i really love and my hairdresser knows what i want. I go to Glamour Salons UAE they have 2 branches here in AD, one in AL Zeina and 1 is in Al ain tower in Corniche. In Al Zeina you can look for Blossom and in Al ain tower you can look for Jeida. It's pricey but worth it. Hope that helps.

Good day everyone ...I am asking for a great advise from anyone in group. I am household worker i came back last Sept. 2016 to my madame...she was the same madame i had back in 2013-2015...but she was not actually the same sponsor i have in my visa. During my first month she was not able to give me my salary...i borrowed money from his brother in law expecting the next month She will give me double salary but she did not. when i was in Philippines she used to call me and say we will arrange to make tutorials for part time , i said ok no problem. That is why during my first month i have ni salary because we didn't found student yet. But from October up to this month we have tutorial clients. i am getting my salary from tutorial only 1200 aed still she did not make increase..the rest of money goes to her for school of her kid..all in all i almost shared 10,000aed to her not included all the salary i got from it. I came to myself that i should ask for increase she said she can't ...now i asked at least once a month off....again she said no because it's hard I'm not in her name. I want to ask just for release and find accurate job for me....coz i don't find myself in fair situation. Please i want to hear an advice...thank u and god bless If you are in the UAE go and speak with your consulate. Sadly i do not think anyone on here will be able to help you Hi Jhoy, So unfortunate that you are experiencing that problem. Does she hired you from the Philippines? if so, did you read your contract before signing and are you aware of it? and second, why would you agree to work with her, whereas you knew that she is not gonna be your employer that hires you to come here in the UAE? If you have proper documentation better yet go to consulate of the Philippines and ask them regarding your situation or go to labour office and file complaint. 1200 is not fair for a household worker, minimum salary is at least 2000aed plus accomodation etc.

Hi all, I have just moved to Abu Dhabi from the UK and whilst I am still finding my feet on the grocery front in general, I am really struggling to find organic FRESH foods! I have looked online and found the few online companies that do box deliveries(Ripe etc) which is great, but one of the REALLY important products for me is organic meat, as this is the food that has the most hormones/antibiotics etc pumped into it! So far I have managed to find one pack of semi-organic chicken breast in one shop...does anyone know of anywhere I can get organic meat? Or is this something I will need to accept :/ Oh, and a second question, totally off the topic, but any advice on where I can get blonde highlights done would also be much appreciated!! Thank you! Hi Linzpoppy, with regards to your questions, i always get my organic meat at the organic store right by the Nations towers it's a bit pricey if you're really looking for an organic meat. there's also other option and my suggestion is, you don't really need an organic meat one's so long as it is grass fed and they're not antibiotic fed it is considered all natural meat, non gmo's, no antibiotics and etc., and check also where it came from. :) your second question is. after a long while of searching a good Salon i found one and i get my hair done @ Glamour Salon Abu Dhabi, they have Salon in Al ain tower by Corniche area and in Al Zeina, i recommend you look for Jeida or Blossom they're both fantastic hairdresser! hope this helps! cheers!

Hi there, as I am starting to work myself, we'll be two people working t different hours. I think we'll need household help, although I am not keen on live-in maids. Are there any part-time options (daytime-maids), in particular ones that could also do cooking? Alternatively, are there any solutions for full-time working couples who have no time for cooking? I would even consider someone who just does that, sorting out the cleaning separately. Does anyone have any advice? hi Starfish, if you still looking for a part time or occasional nanny that can cook and it's not live in, please let me know, maybe i can help you find one. i have a lots of friends similar on what you prefer.

Hi, does anyone live in Al Zeina? We are looking at different areas to live but are in the UK. Do all areas of Al Zeina have aeroplane noise? HI Blueskies, Al Zeina is a nice neighbourhood to live esp its just 10 mins away from the airport and 5mins away from Yas island. aeroplanes are not big of a deal but yes you can hear noise every time there's a jet off. if you're really fuzzy about the noise then this neighbourhood is doesnt suits you. job wise, it's also a matter if where your work is. cheers! good luck on finding one! :)

Hi JL, i live in Al Reem but in Reem diamond tower , i know Amaya towers because i have a friend that live's there. there's a small supermarket and the la brioche and the high spirit wine store, there's some restaurant like Leopold's of London, smoking doll, hanoi, and a fastfood up on the 2nd floor, but you have to go to Boutik mall which is 7mins drive :D or there's the Gallleria Mall at Al Maryah island which is approx 10mins drive.

HI quicksilver, I do recommend you to check on trip advisor and booked it from there and pick it up at the airport when you arrive (Europcar or Hertz )as the price is way cheaper (60dhs) rather than renting it in the City would cost you 100dhs minimum. :D that's what we always do even we live here, we book it at Trip advisor then pick it up and return it at the airport. hope this helps. Enjoy your stay here in the UAE.

Hi, wow! that's a huge amount of money! it might not a big help but you could speak to the management about it why they ended up on that amount? they might referred the amount to the damages on the household? when you moved in, did you take note of the damages that's already there? eg.. marks and stains, holes, kitchen damage etc? because that's what i did when we move in i took note of those damages and keep logged on the maintenance that they did. and pictures on those damages, sometimes management are sneaky they would charge you the damages from the previous tenants before you. i hope you can find solution on that.

Hi Realsunny, All the apps here are banned meaning you cannot use any of those. we had a trouble also in doing that as i rely on those when calling back home ( Canada) except skype that does works apparently for voice calls but you have to have a credit on it in order to use it to call a number from UAE to abroad.

HI Thistledown, you may might as well have to call the HR ASAP for follow up so you know where you at, and it might get delayed because of the merging coming up next year. if you didnt receive anything, like job and salary offer thru email and they just assure you verbally that you get the job then i suggest to do call them right away. the way business here is differ from any other country. you would need to do the follow ups not them getting back to you that is as per my experience.:) i hope this helps.

There's a couple of available apts here in our place maybe if you are interested i can hook you up so you can skip paying agent fee which is usually 3,000-5000 aed. anyways that's just a suggestion.

Hi Zita, Make sure if your going to Cosmopolitan Salon,Manager will assist you and do your haircut, as i have a bad experience when i went there the 1st time, her ladies did my haircut and it was horrible. The Manager is really nice when i emailed her she ask me to come back so they can fix my hair but i never did, i'm still traumatized with what the girl did to my hair :)

wow Nozza lot's of random questions, to answer your questions: 1. you can get sports TV via Etisalat or OSN cable network based on their different TV packages,it depends what kind of sports you are watching.. 3. usually people hang in their clothes after wash but again it depends, you can buy a washer/dryer all in 1 and also you can buy separate washer and dryer. it's like UK and north america that they use washer and dryer. 4. Mosque are their place to pray they call a prayer 5x a day so you can hear it not more than 5mins and if you're living close to a mosque. 6. there's no area here that you cannot live in. mostly here are really nice and well developed, if you want closer to the place where you work and do not want to take a bus or drive then you should consider in the City of Ad. but if you are driving then you can go farther like in Hydra Village as what you checked. there's a lot of nice places to choose from. it depends on your preferences 8.i'm into Scrapbooking and cross stitching, i didnt find any place yet for cross stitching but i found a place for some crafts that you can see lot of things : Craft store close to World trade center and i go to Daiso for cheaper stuff.. i go buy my threads tons of them, whenever i go back home in Canada because we have diff. stores there to buy lots of things for crafts and it's way cheaper:D i'd rather pay taxes than pay 3x more than the price here.. :D hope that helps! and cheer up you dont need to be disappointed because nobody cares about your message here in the forum. i feel you but you know sometimes we just have to help ourself to find our way out.. shoot me a message if you have more questions and i can help you look into that.. :D

Hi Hope, I guess it depends on where exactly is your starting point when you start to rent a car. since you are a holding a UAE drivers licence you will probably be able to use this to drive in Canada for a short period after you arrive. If you plan to use a foreign driver’s licence in Canada, you should get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country. An IDP will give you a translation of your licence into French and English. :) and usually car rentals in Canada will offer you car insurance etc depends on what province in Canada because it varies in different Canada Region. i think it is gonna be the same in the US. Have fun and enjoy. summer is a perfect time to visit Canada especially in Vancouver and Montreal! :D Hope that helps. Cheers!

Hi Jamuseire, No worries!, hope that helps. I will try to find the number that they gave me. I know i have it somewhere, and also if you are looking into Reem Island, i know it's not your preference but just in case, i know someone who wants to lease his flat in the Gate towers. It's a 2 bedroom 3 bath. A nice and quiet location away from the very busy city. I dont know him but you can call him for more details, 050-752-0359 his name is Javed Alam, cheers! Good luck!

Hi Jamuseire, try to search ADCP management. it's a direct contact to those who manage a rental flats and apartment building. so you don't need to pay a realtor for searching the house that you wanted. they have a good couple of buildings at Al Khalidiya where 5mins walk to Corniche. Hope that helps you! cheers!

Hi JL1, It's me again.. ;) regarding your question what's the best place to live here. Newgirl is right lots of paperworks when you first arrive :D I got really annoyed when i first arrive here it's really a big change coming from Canada and you have to embrace the culture and the way they are here is really way soo much different!! it's an open country, so you can dress up the way your used to be so long that's it's too much showy your not gonna get any second look! Next thing is It depends also on your budget and your preference. You might want to live closer to where you guys would work in that way you will get used to the city, then later on you can move to some other places far from the City and that if you plan to drive too! Reem Island such as Gate Towers, Arc and Sun Tower and Marina where bus 63 and 7 are in the boutik mall going to the city all the way to Marina Mall, and there's also a nice towers in Shams abu dhabi which is farther from the reem island and there's no bus that goes there, Al Reem island is a nice place away from busy City. We live here. i find it very quiet. There's gonna be a lot of towers, pet wise i dont think a lot of towers would allow more than two pets. i have searched for that when we came here because i would want a pet too, sadly i just have to postpone to have a pet because if i would want to have one it is gonna be farther to my husbands work so I had to postponed it. Night life here i haven't tried but there's gonna be a lot of places like Yas Island or some Nice Hotels here. mostly restaurant closes here at 10pm or later. for medicines i dont think you would have a problem taking medicines it surprises me that one time i went to the pharmacy here they sell Aspirin over the counter which i find it weird. Renting a car i find it expensive but you can always check it when you arrive here. for furnitures and stuff there's a dubbizle for those used furnitures. same where i got all my couch and center table but you have to be vigilant for that :D Banks? hmmmm i think NBAD is commonly used here but there's a lot of branches you can choose from. You'll gonna learn a lot when you arrive here. it's either you will find it funny or annoying. i think i mentioned all my experience here now since we arrive last February. hahaha! and Also, it is not allowed here to show affection when you are in public. lol! even you are a couple, i find it funny, but i respect why they would not allow it. it's their culture and religion. So, Good luck when you arrive here! :D Otherwise most of the people i met here they said it's a great and safe place to live.. cheers!

Hi JL1. Al Reem island is really nice place to live, very accessible as what Joanna said and it's away from busy city. All the 3 towers are great, clean and well maintained. Duplex and townhouses are expensive it would cost you maybe around 200-300k AED/year and you need to drive 15-30mins to reach the City if you will be working around downtown abu dhabi. ;)

Hi Ladies, I have a full-time, live-in maid and I arranged for her to be transferred to my husband's sponsorship one month ago. We are not happy with her work attitude and complaining nature. She is on a probationary period for 3 months and she has not yet completed one month! I would like to understand the procedure for visa cancellation and our obligations for her. 1. Are we obliged to provide her month's notice given that she is still on probation? 2. I believe the we do need to provide her a one-way ticket back home . Do we also need to take her to the airport? Appreciate your advise the soonest possible! Thanks, Ruby Hi Ruby, Have you find solutions to your questions? I suggest you go to this website abudhabi.ae it might help you answer all your questions. And also i would suggest to call labour for more informations. And as far as i know even they are still under probation it is just fair to give them month notice, and to send them or take them to the airport is depending if you want it or not it is still your responsibility to know that she safely arrive on her 1st step going back on her country of origin. Anyways i hope that helps and I hope you find answers soon! Cheers!
